Meet Soonsoo! He's a vey adorable playful sweet guy! He is a 1 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea. We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable. Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth. If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away. Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat. Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South Korea, and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men. Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions. The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Soonsoo and some of his friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life. These are miracle dogs that they are alive today. Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs. Riggs is a very lucky boy. He found himself in a huge shelter with a huge impound rate. We saw him and grabbed him immediately. At first he was shut down and unsure. Within 2 days, Riggs was doing exceptional. Wherever he goes he draws attention. He is doing great in an apartment building and was the start of the Farmers Market. He is just beautiful and a scene stealer. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. This is Scotch... he was rescued from a super high kill shelter in LA County. He is very fun and loving. Scotch loves to play with other playful dogs. He is a really really good walker. He goes on 3-4 mile hikes with his foster. Scotch should be introduced to new people in a specific way. He warms up very quickly as long as you don't come at him immediately. We promise, he will make you laugh and bring so much joy. Oh.. and .. he has the softest fur ever! At 12 pounds... super portable. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. Slight dog reactivity when on leash. Currently take prozac 32 MG. We adpoted him at 5 months old after being rehomed. We have notes of a previous incident with his former family regarding barking at a toddler. He has been wonderful around our children at toddler age and others since. Looking to wean him off the prozac with his new family and continued training.
