Story
MEET TATER!
Name: Tater
Age: 6 months

Breed: Welsh Corgi Mix

His Story
Tater was found wandering near a village community center and was eventually taken to a municipal shelter, where he was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, he was rescued and given a second chance. Now this adorable little guy is ready to find his forever family!
With People
Tater likes people and is friendly with both men and women, although he doesn’t seem to have had much experience living closely with humans before.
He’ll come when called, ask for affection, and happily let even new people pet and hold him. He’s comfortable being picked up and will even roll over and show his belly to someone he’s just met.
That said, when he’s busy playing with his dog friends, people become much less interesting — he may completely ignore you when called! He can also be vocal when separated from people and sometimes barks when he wants attention or something from you.
With Other Dogs
Tater is a very social little guy who loves other dogs! He readily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello and initiate play.
He especially seems to enjoy bigger dogs and can be a little cheeky and confident with dogs around his own size. If another dog picks a fight, Tater will try to stand his ground and give it right back — but truthfully, he’s not much of a tough guy. The moment things get a little too scary, he’s quick to make his escape.
Because he genuinely enjoys canine company, Tater could be a great fit for a home with another friendly dog or even a multi-dog household.
With Cats
Tater has not yet been tested with cats, but a cat test can be arranged upon request.
Energy Level
Tater has a moderate energy level and enjoys being active outdoors, but he can also settle down and relax afterward. He is still only six months old, though, so his future family should be prepared for all the normal energy, curiosity, and mischief that come with raising a puppy!
Walks
Tater doesn’t have extensive leash-walking experience yet and can be slightly cautious around unfamiliar smells or surroundings. However, he loves sniffing and generally follows his handler’s lead well.
He isn’t particularly bothered by passing cars and handles things like drainage grates without much hesitation. With continued practice and positive experiences, he should become an increasingly confident walking companion.
At Home
Tater does not guard food from either people or other dogs.
Separation anxiety has not been observed, but he does have a tendency toward demand barking and can be vocal when separated from people. Because of this, a home with very close neighbors or strict noise restrictions may not be the best fit.
He settles calmly when placed in a kennel and currently uses both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty areas. As with any puppy moving into a new environment, he’ll need patience and consistency while learning his new household routine.
Tater would be a wonderful match for a family looking for a friendly, playful, dog-social young pup who is ready to experience family life and continue learning along the way.
