Story
Dorothy is a 12 year old, 11 lb very sweet, quiet and calm chiweenie who came to us in an emaciated state.  She has gained weight, but is still a very thin senior.  She loves lap-sitting, following family members around the house and napping.  A bonus is that Dorothy does not bark.   Dorothy also loves going for morning walks and stroller rides.   Dorothy has a grade 6/6 heart murmur and is on medication for that.  She also some senior dog visual impairment. Dorothy's adoption fee has been sponsored. There is a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Located in Decatur, IL Meet Harlequin 💕 Harlequin is a 7–8 year old Dachshund weighing around 10 lbs, and she is everything you could want in a little companion dog. Sweet, devoted, and happiest right by your side, she has truly mastered the art of being someone’s shadow. Harlequin thrives on routine and quickly learns the rhythm of her home. When the alarm goes off in the morning, she knows it’s time to start her day—heading out to potty and then eagerly waiting for breakfast, her little body wiggling with excitement and her tail wagging the whole time. After breakfast, she’s ready to settle in for what she does best… snuggling. Her favorite place in the world is your lap. Whether you’re working, relaxing, or winding down for the evening, Harlequin will happily stay close, soaking up every moment with her person. She enjoys regular potty breaks every couple of hours and, of course, never says no to a tasty treat. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and types. She hasn’t been tested with cats. Harlequin also enjoys car rides and will happily tag along wherever life takes you. Evenings are her favorite—dinner, followed by cozy snuggles, and then bedtime curled up next to you. She sleeps peacefully through the night with no messes and truly cherishes that close connection. When left alone, Harlequin prefers to stay curled up on the bed rather than in a crate, though she will tolerate a crate if needed. Because of her loving, people-focused nature, she would do best in a home where someone is around often and can give her the time and companionship she thrives on. Harlequin requires a secure physical fenced yard. She is spayed, has received a dental, is microchipped, and current on vaccines. Adoption fee: $325 Location: Decatur, IL Applications at leiashope.org Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3), foster-based rescue. Applications take 7–10 business days to process. Meet and greets are held after an approved application with all family members present. Adopters must travel to the dog’s location—no transport is provided. If flying, dogs must travel in the cabin. Harlequin is ready to find her person—the one whose lap she can call home forever. 💗

Story
Decatur, IL leiashope.org Ombre is a sweet little Dachshund puppy born in November 2025 with all the charm and spunk the breed is known for. Like many Dachshunds, he has a big personality packed into a small body and isn’t afraid to show it! Ombre absolutely loves to play with his foster fur sister, and the two often turn the house and yard into their own little racetrack as they zoom around together. With his tiny legs working overtime, he does his very best to keep up with every turn and twist of their playful tornado. When playtime winds down, Ombre is just as happy being a cuddle bug. Dachshunds are famously loyal little companions, and Ombre is no exception—he loves being close to his person and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. One of his favorite parts of the day is story time with his foster sister, where he snuggles in close to make sure he doesn’t miss a single word of his bedtime story. Dachshunds are known for being affectionate, clever, and full of personality. They were originally bred to be brave little hunters, which means they are curious, playful, and love being part of the action in their home. Ombre embodies all of those wonderful traits and thrives when he has companionship and fun activities to keep him engaged. Ombre was recently treated for a UTI and, if needed, will go home with any remaining medication to complete his treatment. We are seeking a home for him that has a playmate—either children or a young playful dog—to help keep him busy, happy, and well socialized. His adoption fee is $550. Ombre is current on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. He has not been neutered as we do not encourage neutering before 6 months of age. Leia’s Hope will provide a credit to the adopter’s veterinarian to help with the cost of his neuter. Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. Applications can take 7–10 business days to process, so please be patient. We only perform meet and greets with an approved application. Meet and greets are done at our location and all family members, including dogs, must attend. We do not provide transportation or allow our dogs to ride cargo if flying. Puppies are a 15+ year commitment and adopters must be prepared to care for Ombre for his entire lifetime. Applications at leiashope.org Located in Decatur, IL.
