Story
Meet Gondola, a 1-year-old Dachshund Mix who weighs 17.8 pounds. It’s no surprise that Wish Bone's staff and volunteers are completely smitten with this handsome guy—Gondola wins hearts wherever he goes. Gondola is making great progress with house-training and does not use a crate in his foster home. At night, he happily snoozes wherever he finds a comfy spot. He enjoys short walks, playtime with his canine foster siblings, and plenty of cuddle sessions. He does well with other dogs and is cat-tolerant and shows little interest in his foster cat. While Gondola hasn’t spent time around children, his friendly, gentle, and adaptable personality suggests he’d likely do well with them. Gondola’s favorite things include chewing on a good bone, going for car rides, and soaking up affection from his people.  Gondola's foster family describes him as a total love-bug who wants to cuddle with everyone in the house—humans and dogs alike! He was initially timid when putting on his martingale collar or harness, but now he gets excited because he knows it means outside time. He loves walks and has already learned “sit." With a bit of basic training and continued leash work, he’ll really shine. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who’s ready to learn and loves being close to his people, Gondola might just be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Dill is an 8-year-old Dachshund mix who weighs 9.5 pounds, and this tiny guy brings big personality once he feels safe and settled. He’s a reserved, slow-to-warm-up pup, but give him a little time and patience and he’ll happily snuggle right into your lap. Dill is house trained and enjoys hanging out in the house, zooming around indoors, and taking brief walks when it's not cold out. He can be a bit of a grump when crated, and he does much better in an ex-pen, where he relaxes, rests, and feels more like himself. That’s also where his hidden talent shines—he can stand straight up on his hind legs like a little meerkat, balancing with perfect confidence! He does best with small dogs and is currently warming up to a big female dog, a medium male, and a small male in his foster home. He may growl at dogs at first but improves as he gets to know them. Cats, however, are not on his list of friends—he will bark at them with great enthusiasm. He hasn’t been around children, and an adult-only home is recommended. A quiet home with few visitors and an experienced adopter who understands small-dog personalities would be ideal for this little guy. Dill will thrive with someone who respects his boundaries, offers calm structure, and appreciates the big heart behind his tiny frame. Once he trusts you, he’s a total cuddlebug—just waiting for his person to help him feel safe, understood, and loved. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Barnaby is a 7-year-old Dachshund mix weighing 11.5 pounds, and he’s a gentle little soul. He can be a bit timid at first, but he warms up quickly once he feels safe. Barnaby seems to have a soft spot for the ladies, while men may need to take things a little slower as he builds trust. Once he’s comfortable, Barnaby is an absolute sweetheart who loves nothing more than curling up in your lap and soaking up affection. He’s a loving companion who would thrive in a patient, kind home that lets him settle in at his own pace. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
