Story
Dorothy is a 12 year old, 11 lb very sweet, quiet and calm chiweenie who came to us in an emaciated state.  She has gained weight, but is still a very thin senior.  She loves lap-sitting, following family members around the house and napping.  A bonus is that Dorothy does not bark.   Dorothy also loves going for morning walks and stroller rides.   Dorothy has a grade 6/6 heart murmur and is on medication for that.  She also some senior dog visual impairment. Dorothy's adoption fee has been sponsored. There is a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Frankenfurter, better known as Frankie, a 4-year-old Dachshund mix weighing about 14 pounds. After doing an amazing job raising her two adorable boys, this sweet girl is ready to find a forever family where she can finally be the one getting all the love and attention. Frankie is a classic Dachshund through and through. She's a velcro dog who wants to be as close to her favorite person as possible, whether that's curled up beside you on the couch, sitting in your lap, or following you from room to room. She absolutely loves going for walks and would happily join you for daily strolls before settling in for cuddle time. Because she forms such strong bonds with her people, she'd do best with someone who is home much of the time to enjoy all the companionship she has to offer. Frankie can be a little cautious when meeting new people and needs time to settle into new surroundings. She's especially devoted to the women in her life and can be protective, so she is looking for a women-only home. She may growl at men while trying to protect her person, making an all-female household the best fit for her. A few tasty treats certainly help earn her trust, and once she feels safe, her affectionate, loving personality shines. She gets along well with other dogs and is also fine with cats. Frankie would do best in a home with children 13 years and older who understand how to respect her space. She also requires a securely fenced yard, as she will not potty while on a leash. If you're searching for a loyal little shadow who will love you with her whole heart and happily stick by your side through every part of the day, Frankie may be the perfect match. Her minimum adoption fee is $275, plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents if the dog is 4 months of age or older. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Tum Tum, a 13-year-old long-haired Miniature Dachshund weighing in at a very portable 10 pounds. He may be blind and somewhat hearing impaired, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this little guy is ready to sit on the sidelines. Tum Tum has places to go, stairs to conquer, beds to locate, and stroller rides to enjoy! When Tum Tum first arrived in his foster home, he bumped into things as he figured out his new surroundings. But it didn’t take him long to learn the layout and confidently make his way around the house, even finding his favorite beds all on his own. And stairs? Apparently those are no problem for this tiny guy. His foster mom says his favorite activities include eating, climbing stairs, and going for stroller rides, which honestly sounds like a pretty excellent retirement plan. Tum Tum is friendly, outgoing, happy, and surprisingly adaptable. He loves meeting other dogs and even tries to play with them, so having another friendly dog around would be a big plus. He’s also enjoys car rides, likes hanging out around the house, and is perfectly content with some time in the yard or a brief walk - but stroller rides are definitely more his speed. Tum Tum is house-trained, although he may occasionally have an accident if he isn't taken outside on schedule. He sleeps comfortably gated in a room rather than in a crate. What Tum Tum really needs is a patient family who understands that his world looks and sounds a little different and is willing to give him the consistency he needs to feel secure. In return, they’ll get a sweet, social little senior who has proven that being blind doesn’t stop him from living life on his own terms. Tum Tum isn’t looking for a complicated retirement. He just wants good food, cozy beds, a canine friend, and someone willing to take him on a stroller ride now and then. At 13 years old, he’s earned every bit of that. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
