Story
Jackie is the smallest dog in our facility at the moment, but presents with that usual big dog persona. 😉Jackie is about 15 pounds and would do great in a quiet low key home with slow introductions. While we don’t know much about Jackie’s past as she was a stray… she does well once she warms up to you! We envision her spending her days lounging about watching reruns of the price is right and agreeing with the late bob barker to spay and neuter your pets.

Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 20 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 8, 2024, 3:12 pm

Story
My name is Darla and I am a very deep thinking, calm, sweet, lap dog that is looking for the perfect laidback home.  I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix that is only 20 pounds and guessed to be 6 years old.  I have lived with a lot of dogs in a home that was not able to care for us properly.  We were fortunately surrendered to Critter Cavalry Rescue so that we could all find better and more stable families to love us.  I am a tad shy when I first meet new people but I sure do blossom and get more perky when I feel safe with you.  I am pretty good on a leash and I am housebroken and crate trained.  My foster mom says I have the sweetest face and eyes that look in to your soul.  Well you know what?  I am searching for the right soul to make me their own and them to be MINE too!  I am the perfect size for so many lifestyles.  I don’t bark and I ride perfectly fine in a car.  Let’s go places this Summer!  I am ready are you!?  Send an email asking about me to ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Let’s be “family” real soon. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 8, 2024, 3:12 pm

Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

Story
Daisy and Donut are 2 yrs old. The perfect age as they are all grown out of the puppy stages. They are both housebroken and just the sweetest lovable dogs. They are current on all vaccinations and preventatives and have been spayed and neutered. Daisy is a little more high energy but not excessive. She is wonderful especially if she has a chewy bone or toy. Not destructive, she just likes something to chew on. Donut is lower energy but still loves to chase a ball and play with his sibling. They both know sit and will shake when asked as well. Leash and kennel trained and will sleep in their kennel 8-9 hours with no problems. They are great dogs and their family does not want to give them up but they have had a coupled unexpected deaths in the family and unforeseen circumstances that make it unfair for these two as far as time and space. Their current family would love for them to go together and the adoption fees can be adjusted accordingly if we can find a spot together for them both. We will consider single applications if we can’t find a home together. Once adopted Daisy and Donut will will travel via private transport (transport cost is $165.00) to a location closest to you. If you would like to make this family of two part of your life and home please follow the link below to our application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
If you missed out on adopting Lorenzo, you still have another chance at a doxie… meet Louis! This 9 year old tweenie-sized smooth red Dachshund was surrendered when his owner passed away. He has that determined stubborn doxie spirit that only a true dachshund lover could appreciate and needs an experienced adult home. He will have his moments when he wants to be left alone- when eating especially don’t mess with him. He was not a fan of the vet either, and while he doesn’t seem to mind meeting other dogs, doesn’t like sharing his people and stuff with them so is best living as an only pet. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Louis Due to COVID-19, we will not be holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we can schedule socially distant appointments with a specific dog outdoors at our vetâ??s office: VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital 3009 Rt 10 East Morris Plains (Denville on GPS) NJ 07950 Now is the perfect time to open your home to a needy dog! Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
