Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. He would do best in a quiet household without children or other pets. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

This little beauty is Abita! She is a 8 week old female Dachshund mix. She is expected to be under 25lbs when she is full grown. She is super friendly and is very social. She loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. She still has lots of puppy energy and loves to romp and play. She is such a little lover and she never turns down a good belly rub. She would make the perfect lap dog! Although she is great with children, due to her small size we are not comfortable placing her in a home with children under the age of 7. She would make a great addition to just about any family! She is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. Story

Finzel and Tippy are brother and sister. Finzel was initially rescued and was very needy until we rescued Tippy a few days later. Since then they have been two happy little puppies. They play together, cuddle together and sleep together. They are thankfully not destructive puppies. Their father was Shih Tzu and Pekingese and their mother dachshund and yorkie. They both seem to have taken on more the Dachshund size, figure and definitely sweet personality. We do not expect them to get more than 10 to 12 lbs. They are both very affectionate, playful, sweet, cuddly, smart, and well-behaved. They have both been altered and are healthy and ready for their forever home. We would prefer adopting them together first and if that does not work out then we would separate them so that they could at least be in a home with hopefully another dog. Anybody that gets these puppies will have a lot of joy and smiles in their home. They have been well loved and socialized. They are puppy pad and litter box trained. They are also used to going outside and going in the yard when there is not a foot of snow. They crate well when needed as well.
