Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. He would do best in a quiet household without children or other pets. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

*Name: Fred (Flintstone Litter) *Age: 2.5 years old *Current Weight: 27 lbs *Adoption fee: $475 They don't come any cuter than this! At just 27 pounds, Fred is a short legged bundle of sweetness, smartness, and affection. He is incredibly friendly and loves to meet new people and dogs of all sizes. Fred is a cuddle bug and a wiggle butt - he loves nothing more than snuggling up to his favorite humans and wagging his tail with excitement. A perfect companion, our Fred is a pleasure to work with, walk with, and watch TV with. His behavior in the house is impeccable. Fred has been in a loving foster home with other dogs and kids, and interacts wonderfully with all. Fred would do best in a home with another playful dog to romp around with. He loves the small children in his foster home and is gentle and calm with them. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy and love into your life, Fred is the pup for you!  To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ ##1624964##

Story
*Name: Buddy *Age: approx 7 months old *Current Weight: 10 lbs  *Adoption fee: $550  Buddy is a sweet little Dachshund mix with a gentle soul and the most endearing personality. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, his true sweetness shines through. Buddy was found as a stray—unwanted and on his own—but he hasn’t let that dim his loving spirit. He does wonderfully with other dogs and gains confidence from having a canine friend by his side, so we are asking that Buddy goes to a home with another dog. Buddy would thrive in a patient, calm home that will give him the time and love he deserves to fully blossom. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your kindness with quiet affection and a big heart, Buddy might just be your perfect match.  To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs  ##2622135##

Story
Hi, I’m Livie! I’m a 16 pound 2-year-old Doxie/Mountain Cur mix with a soft heart and an even softer spot for being close to you. I came from a property with lots of other dogs, so I’m used to having furry friends around and I enjoy their company. At first, I can be just a tiny bit shy when I meet new people, but it doesn’t last long. Once I realize you’re kind, I come out of my shell. Everyone who spends time with me says I’m super, super sweet and such a gentle girl. I just love to be loved! I’m also best friends with Leah, who is looking for her forever home too. I’d do wonderfully in a calm, loving home where I can continue to build my confidence and be someone’s loyal companion. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate girl who will adore you with her whole heart, I think id be a paw-fect addition to your family. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Stop by during our open hours to meet our available dogs!!Before you can adopt, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/36924/generic. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.November 26, 2025, 12:43 am
