Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 9 years old. He would do best in a quiet household without children or other pets. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

Story
Hi, my name is Emmett. A studious name for a very smart boy. I’m an 8 year old Dachshund that takes his job very seriously. I am a professional lap warmer. That’s right, 13 pounds of warm love on your lap, near your lap, at your feet, you name it- I’m available to provide it all. And lucky for you, I charge no fee! Free lap loving! What gets better than that? All I ask in return is a warm bed and soft food. See, I lost most of my teeth after being neglected so it’s only soft food for me from here on out. No problem there, I love it all. I also need eye drops, but they don’t bother me one bit. My brother Tango and I recently went through a tough time being abandoned by our family. But we’re bouncing back. In fact, we barely missed a step! I love meeting new people and just want to show them what love is all about. I walk well on leash and whenever you’re ready to go out on the town, I’m ready. I also enjoy being around other dogs so if you want to meet up with some doggie friends, I’d be happy to join.If you love a lap dog with some little mini legs and a BIG heart, come meet me!! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
This scrumptious 8 pound 8 year old love muffin Dachsund is looking for his happy ever after. If you are looking to fill your dance card then Tango is the dog for you! Tango and his brother Emmett came to us from a local abandonment case. He was loved his whole life but when their family moved they left them behind in a dark basement without food or water. But Tango is a fighter. Despite everything this dear little chap has been through, he is still overflowing with trust, love and devotion. He will look at you like you are the sun, the moon and the stars because to him, you are. Just one week into foster and he is already gaining weight, his coat is growing back in and he’s ready to live his best life. He’s great with every living thing, including but not limited to: people, dogs, cats, and gentle kids. Whilst his name is Tango he also does a very impressive Quick Step when he sees you reach for his leash, he LOVES his walks, and when it’s dinner time his excited little paws do a very good impression of Lord of the Dance! He needs eye drops twice a day which he takes like a champ, and he might be toothless and gummy but he sure loves his yummies and soft food. He is a low maintenance boy, just feed him, walk him, snuggle him, repeat. Tango is a precious little guy just looking for his forever snuggle buddy, if you think that could be you, the line forms to the left…. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). Story
Rigby is Mr Personality!!! He is a happy go lucky soul that got dropped on a country road on a cold day in the winter. He found a long driveway and walked a half mile of it, and then scratched on the house door to come in! He is a very fun guy that loves absolutely everybody he meets, including all dogs and cats! He is playful and snuggly and silly and absolutely loves to check out dark spaces like cabinets, washing machines, or even crawling in the refrigerator! He goes on a daily 1 mile walk with five other dogs and he loves to snuggle with you at night in bed. He tested positive for Heartworms and his currently on antibiotics. In late May, he will need to begin the process of injections to kill the worms. The person who adopt him will be responsible for following the protocol set by the vet to get rid of the worms. He will need to be kept calm during most of June and July this year while the worms dissolve. He is very easy to care for and he will make you smile and laugh every single day. Contact irondawgs13@gmail.com for adoption application.

Story
Naomi is the kind of little dog who makes you stop, smile, and fall in love all in the same moment. This beautiful Dachshund mix girl has the most heart-melting smile and a gentle, loving spirit that quietly reaches right into your heart. At just 1 year old and full grown at a slim 14 pounds, she’s the perfect petite companion—with a limousine, extra-long little body that only adds to her charm. What we love most are those adorable short legs, with her tiny toes turned outward, making her absolutely unforgettable.   Naomi’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was rescued by a kind woman who travels the country in a tractor trailer, giving dogs like Naomi a chance at a better life. For days, Naomi rode along in the cab, surrounded by other small dogs all hoping for rescue. When Critter Cavalry stepped in to save her and others, her new chapter finally began.   At first, Naomi wasn’t sure who to trust—but watching her slowly open up has been something truly special. Day by day, her sweet personality has blossomed as she’s learned that she is safe, loved, and finally home. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is playful, gentle, and beautifully mannered. She’s housebroken, walks nicely with a harness, and carries herself with a quiet grace that makes you want to protect her forever.   Naomi is more than just a pretty face—she’s a little soul who has learned to trust again, and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who will cherish her. She’s healthy, spayed, heartworm negative, and completely ready to start her forever life.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with beauty, sweetness, and that irresistible low-rider charm, Naomi is your girl. Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to bring this special little lady home.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 24, 2026, 11:27 pm

Story
Meet Lili, a cutie who will fill your home with kisses, cuddles, and endless entertainment.   Lili is a 3-4 year old dachshund mix with a gorgeous short red coat. Lili weighs 25.6 lbs and is working on reaching a healthier weight.  She is the confident leader of the pack—a huge love bug who's always ready with kisses and attention. She's curious, easy-going, and loves to sniff everything on walks.    Environment   This high-energy girl needs a long daily walk and play sessions to stay happy and healthy. She's fully potty trained and doesn't require a fenced yard, though outdoor time for exercise is important.  Lili is very sweet and gentle with people. She loves attention and is usually the first one to approach for pets and kisses. She had family visitors over and was friendly and happy the whole time.     Pets & People   With strangers, Lili sometimes does a "preventive bark" during walks—one or two barks as if to say "I'm here, stay back." Once she sees that her people know and trust the person, she becomes friendly and comes closer for greetings.   During walks, Lili has strong reactions toward other animals—she pulls the leash and is eager to get closer, requiring redirection. She's done the "preventive bark" at stranger dogs from a distance. She has prey drive and will need experienced owners who can work on her leash reactivity, with prior knowledge or with a professional trainer.   Health Lili will benefit from continued training, particularly around leash manners and reactivity. An experienced adopter who can provide structure, patience, and positive reinforcement will help her thrive.   Location Lili is available for adoption from Coral Springs, FL. Please email virginiabyron20@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. Her adoption fee is $300. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2026, 3:23 pm
