Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Boo Boo requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. PLEASE submit an application now at:   The link to our application is https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC          Miss Boo Boo is a very friendly and gets along fine with other dogs.  She is fostered with a pack of five other dogs.  While she does not actively interact with them, she acknowledges their presence and will push them aside so that she can receive pats from her humans. She loves her humans!!     She would do fine as an only dog or one of many. Her foster household does not have cats so we are not sure how she will get along with cats.  Her energy is low, she is such a couch potato!  She will lay with her head next to you and her eyes will look longing into yours as you pat her and show her affection.  The youngest child she has been around is 10 years old, but her temperament leads me to believe that she would do fine with children.  Boo Boo is food motivated but does not guard the resource. She does not need to be crated and does fine having free roaming privileges in her foster home. She is used to a fenced yard and would probably do best in a home with a fenced yard.   Boo Boo is an adorable grand lady that is looking for her forever home and would welcome the love and attention she so richly deserves.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Sadly, Boo Boo's owner passed away and she ended up in a rural shelter. Best Friend Pet Adoption stepped in knowing that senior dogs are rarely adopted from shelters and she was at risk.  We are now trying to find a good home for her.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC. Despite a challenging start in life from a hoarding situation, he has proven to be resilient and sweet-natured. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Good with all dogs and cats, neutered and heartworm negative. Story
If you are looking for a sweet and snuggly senior companion, Oliver is ready to meet you! He is an extremely loving boy who prefers to take things at a slower pace. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys quiet companionship more than anything. His favorite activities include curling up beside you, napping in cozy blankets, and trotting proudly in his favorite sweater. Oliver is a devoted companion who bonds deeply with his people. He would do best in a home where he isnt left alone for long periods (retirees or homebodies would be a great fit). If youre looking for a soft-souled senior who will love you with all the wisdom of his golden years, Oliver is ready to be your devoted little sidekick.

Jack is both potty and crate trained, making the transition to your home easier. He will benefit from a fenced yard (required) where he can play and explore safely. With a little patience and time, youll see his personality blossom into that of a loving companion. Join us on December 13 at Unleashed of Wilmington to meet Jack! 1319 Military Cutoff Rd from 11-2. Chewy came from Ohio when her owner had to give her up because she was fighting with her female fur sibling, and the owner feared the outcome. Chewy was scared when she first came to us, but once she got to know us, she opened up and is now very friendly. She loves the male foster dog in the foster home and even plays with him. She really enjoys the fenced yard, and given her young age and love of the outdoors, we want her to have it so she can play and run. Chewy loves lap time and will beg to get in your lap if you are sitting at your computer, watching TV, or just having quiet time. Because she is a couple of pounds overweight, we want someone who will commit to keeping her at her ideal weight, which we believe should be around 12 pounds. Our must-haves for beautiful Chewy include: - A fenced yard - Another small, young dog for her to play with - Someone who can be home more often than not - No apartments, high-rises, or condos, as she likes to bark when someone comes in the door If you meet our requirements and wish to adopt Chewy, please visit our website and complete our online adoption application. Out-of-state adoptions east of the Mississippi River are welcome, and we do help with transports. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
