Story
JuniorDachshund Mix13 years old14 poundsFostered in Raleigh area Short version: House trained, great on leash, sweet, playful, no kids under 12, needs to be only dog or with a submissive dog Justice has zero idea that he’s 13 years old and we sure as heck aren’t going to break it to him. He landed in our arms when the only owner he’d known his whole life had to surrender due to health issues and she was no longer able to care for him. Unlike most of our fosters, he was very well cared for with excellent vet care his whole life.   Justice loves to play. He wants to play his person. And he will play by himself with his toys. And his favorite thing is a game of fetch. He bounces when he walks and is full of pep. Justice is totally housetrained and does great on a leash. He loves to go for walks. This guy fit right into his foster homes routine without missing a beat. He’s smart as a whip. And gets the routine very quickly. Besides playing, his second love is food – and sometimes he loves it a little too much so he needs a home without kids under 12. He also needs a home without older dogs or with a very submissive dog and a family who can manage the food issues. Justice is sweet and friendly. But not a creepy stalker like some of our fosters. You can actually pee in privacy with Justice in your life. He likes to be nearby but isn’t all up in your business. Justice is UTD, neutered, recently had a dental and is microchipped. He has no known health issues – very healthy for his age. His new family will need to come to the Raleigh area to adopt – no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in NC, VA, SC, WV, northern GA, eastern TN, and southern MD, DC area. To get the process started of bringing this boy home for the holidays fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/application Justice is simply a great dog. Everyone who meets him falls head over heels for him. And he would love to be the king of your castle. All this boy wants for Christmas is his very own forever home. ##1876238##

Story
When we initially introduced this sweet boy, Zero, a few of you were baffled and upset with our name choice as if we were calling this sweet boy a nobody! But actually his name means so much the opposite. Zero got his name from Jack Skellington's canine ghostly best friend in "The Nightmare Before Halloween" -- and at one point in the movie Zero even turns into a tissue to dry Jack's tears! Our Zero is a 2 year old dachshund beagle mix that is only about 15 lbs. (our best breed mix guess) and was initially rescued as a stray wandering a local neighborhood. In the shelter, Zero was pretty shut down and scared -- and it took a bit of time for that to change once he came into his foster home! It quickly became apparent that Zero has likely been harmed badly in his life (he has a nose scar that makes us question if his muzzle might have been taped shut or injured). And given that Zero is uncertain about men, we suspect the offending human might have been male. Zero has warmed up well to his foster mom and the 2 human kids (12 and 17 -- both boys) but he struggles to know that his foster dad is a safe space so it requires additional work to establish connections with men. Some great things about Zero:The way his feet turn out so perfectly! He LOVES to play with his foster dog siblings. He LOVES toys and chews (though might get a bit protective over high value chews with the other dogs). He seems to love children (we have not had him around children under 8 years of age but we would be willing to consider kids as young as 5 years). He is a pretty quiet guy -- he does not bark much (at least not yet) and seems to be about 95% house trained. Considering he is a hound mix...we call this "completely house trained"!He loves to ride in the car but can easily be spooked in new places so it will take some time to build his confidence. Also the reason why going on walks can be a little scary for Zero! He will need someone committed to working with him on socialization.Things we do not know about Zero yet: Cat friendly (we suspect not but we are willing to test), young kid friendly (could be but we are hesitant simply because we have no history of him with young kids), and big dog friendly (he just hasn't been exposed but we are willing to test). ##1839560##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Fauna!  She is from Anson County and spent most of her trapped in a wire cage outside to make babies— exposed to the elements.   We just can’t understand why people are so cruel!  She is very shy at first and will bark and growl at other dogs to either protect her food or relay that she is scared   BUT she does not bite and loves to be held by her foster mama.   Fauna feels most secure in a cage but is growing more confident each day.  She loves food and is a great lap dog.  She will take some time to warm up, but she will be a fantastic companion and is fine as an only dog— she is a great size.   She also is learning how to play and loves running around in the yard.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 29, 2023, 11:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Hello! My name's Ibar! Ibar loves toys and playing with other dogs. He came from a hoarding situation so he is shy but sweet. He is learning to become more comfortable with others, but still has a long ways to go. Ibar needs someone who will be patient with him, and give him time to warm up. He has had surgery for his cherry eyes twice but they have come back both times.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 29, 2023, 11:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Hello, I'm Waylon! I'm about 4 years old, but thats nothing in little dog years. Pawfect rescued me from a person that had way too many of us. Because of that, I am a little shy. I have come a long ways. I love my foster mommy and cuddle with her sometimes. I also let other people pet me and am okay with strangers in the house.  I love my foster sisters (bully breeds)! My foster brother is a little annoying but he is just SOOO big (great dane puppy) and has A LOT of energy. My favorite type of dogs are the calmer ones. Those puppies just have too much energy! I love to lay in my 'safe place'. Thats my crate that foster mommy always leaves open for me. When I feel safe I come out and when I need a little alone time I go in. My favorite activity to do is EAT! I love eating. Mommy gives me lots of snuffle mats and I love them! I love to sunbathe outside and run around the yard, because of that a fenced in yard is a must.  I would do best with no kids. I'm still a little scared and kids are just so crazy sometimes. I am still learning how to be a loving dog. I am improving every day. Mommy still can't pick me up or walk me on a leash. Mommy says I am getting better each day and I'm ready to go to my forever home. Are you my pawfect match?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 29, 2023, 11:10 pm
