Story
Rosie came to us from a rural county shelter. She was surrendered to them after being found in a Walmart parking lot. She is approximately 1 year old, already spayed, dachshund mix. Rosie weighs about 24 lbs and is up to date on all vaccines. Rosie's ideal household would be one with lots of love and attention. Rosie loves to use her nose to sniff around outside and is housebroken. She is content cuddling next to you on the couch or going for an afternoon stroll. Rosie's current foster reports that she is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to relieve herself. The foster home that Rosie is currently in has both dogs and cats. Rosie can be timid when meeting new people and new animals. She warms up quickly with pets and treats.

Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Beaux and feel that you would be a good match for her, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Beaux is a beautiful chocolate and tan, 9-year-old Dachshund who is ready for her forever home. She came to us paralyzed, but quickly regained use of her legs, and can now run and play to her heart's content! This little Doxie has some trouble being still. Even when she’s really tired, she still wants to keep going. And she absolutely LOVES to ride -- in a car, a boat, wheelbarrow, or backpack. As long as she isn't left in the house, she’s a happy little camper! Although Beaux does very well with the other dogs in her foster family, she is capable of entertaining herself and probably would do well without another canine companion, as long as she has human companionship. Beaux also LOVES children! Like most Dachshunds, she is highly intelligent... and a bit more mischievous than your average pup. Because of Beaux’s high energy level, she tries to go up and down stairs, hop off the furniture, etc. -- things that Dachshund's really aren't supposed to do. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so she can run and explore safely. Her foster home has a fenced yard with a doggie door. Her foster parents have not taught her to walk on a leash, which is one thing we're hoping her new family will be able and willing to do for her. Beaux is housetrained, but her back injury affected her bladder-control and at times she may dribble when she walks toward the door. She wears a doggie diaper most of the time in her foster home. Like most Dachshund's, Beaux has a great appetite! She enjoys carrots and other veggies… and she loves watermelon. She has a few favorite chew toys -- one of which is a golf ball! Beaux is healthy and isn't currently on any special medications other than a supplement for joint support. She is current on her Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccine and is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and had her teeth cleaned. She tested negative for Heartworms, and is on Heartguard for Heartworm prevention. Beaux's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Beaux is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Beaux would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.

Story
Waldo is a sweet lil couch potato dachshund. We have had him 4 years and he is such a good boy.. He loves cuddling his human or his doggy "brother." He'll keep up on short hikes and he loves a good romp. One medium length walk and one short one per day and a dog park trip or hike once in a while help keep this boy sweet. He is a 21 lb standard red short haired dachshund. We love him and he was really good with our six year old in her toddler years but he has been very grouchy with our new baby (perhaps adding another dog to the home or age have led to his increased grumpiness). We are looking for a new home for Waldo.. Older kids should be fine but he shouldn't live with babies or toddlers.

Story
Naomi is the kind of little dog who makes you stop, smile, and fall in love all in the same moment. This beautiful Dachshund mix girl has the most heart-melting smile and a gentle, loving spirit that quietly reaches right into your heart. At just 1 year old and full grown at a slim 14 pounds, she’s the perfect petite companion—with a limousine, extra-long little body that only adds to her charm. What we love most are those adorable short legs, with her tiny toes turned outward, making her absolutely unforgettable.   Naomi’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was rescued by a kind woman who travels the country in a tractor trailer, giving dogs like Naomi a chance at a better life. For days, Naomi rode along in the cab, surrounded by other small dogs all hoping for rescue. When Critter Cavalry stepped in to save her and others, her new chapter finally began.   At first, Naomi wasn’t sure who to trust—but watching her slowly open up has been something truly special. Day by day, her sweet personality has blossomed as she’s learned that she is safe, loved, and finally home. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is playful, gentle, and beautifully mannered. She’s housebroken, walks nicely with a harness, and carries herself with a quiet grace that makes you want to protect her forever.   Naomi is more than just a pretty face—she’s a little soul who has learned to trust again, and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who will cherish her. She’s healthy, spayed, heartworm negative, and completely ready to start her forever life.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with beauty, sweetness, and that irresistible low-rider charm, Naomi is your girl. Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to bring this special little lady home.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 18, 2026, 11:02 pm

Story
When you check the boxes for the perfect small dog that you want to bring in to your life, you have to consider our amazing little guy named Sammy Boy.  This Dachshund mix boy is about 6-8 months old and weighs16 pounds with a projected 20 pound adult size expected.  He is just a one of a kind personality and look that just makes your heart pitter patter when he is around.   He adores his toys that we think are the first that he has ever had. Having come all the way from a small town New Mexico kill shelter where he and many others had their lives on the line, Sammy Boy arrived at Critter Cavalry Rescue with a shy and scared soul.  It wasn't but a few days until he slowly let go of his fears and embraced the love from his foster family.  Now he loves to play all day and follow his foster mom around like her shadow.  He loves to crawl in her lap and just soak up all the affection that she showers on him.  Her affirmations of love, guidance coupled with the structure that we know he has never had in his life, has bring out Sammy Boy's amazing personality and charm.   He is learning all about crate training. doggie doors, bathroom schedules and how to live like a pampered dog indoors with all the other little foster friends.   We cannot say enough about how wonderful this little guy promises to be for a new family.  He would do best with older children in the home and he would be a great little neighborhood walking pal every day. This bright little boy has learned everything with ease and is on the fast track to learn more about being a spectacular dog.  This boy is ready to go now!!!   Don't hesitate if you are looking for a dog that will no bigger than 25 pounds and one that will be your best friend in life and  a friend to all dogs, cats and people he meets in life.   Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is currently in Nashville, TN but is ready for a new home in Tennessee or out of state in the northeastern region.  We transport every weekend to the northeast and he could be on the next van this coming weekend.

Ollie came from an illegal breeder and because of this he was not socialized and is scared of new things and people. Someone that adopts him will need to have patience with him while he gets comfortable with his new world. When he came to us it took him several days to eat, get comfortable, and wag his tail when we would come home or into the room. Now that he has been with us for a while, he "growl talks" to us with his tail wagging. (How cool is that?) He gets along with the female dogs in his foster home and will play some, but he is more interested in his foster mom or dad giving him attention. Ollie does not do well with male dogs. He needs to be an only dog or possibly be with a small, young, female dog. Our must haves for Ollie are: A fenced in yard He can be an only dog, but the new owners must have someone that is home more often than not No cats, big dogs, or male dogs He can have another small, young, female dog for a companion when he wants to play No apartment, condos, or high rises If you see the possibility of him being your best friend then take a chance, you will not be sorry. He really is a joy to have as a foster. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
