Story
**PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT WHEN REQUESTING AN APPLICATION!!** 7-7-25: "Hello everyone, my name is ELLIE, and I do thank you for stopping to read all about me! Well, aside from being adorable, I am a 4 to 5 year old Dachshund mix, who weighs about 20 pounds, had all my vaccines, am chipped, spayed and heartworm negative! I came to this great rescue after my loving owner made the painful decision to have to let me go, as her health was prohibiting her from taking care of me. I have been with my Foster Mom since February 2025, hoping I could get back to my sweet Momma, but that is no longer possible. So, I am going to make the best of it and take all this change in stride! While in my Foster home, I have had the best time, playing, lounging on the couch, outside enjoying the sunshine, etc. I do like other dogs, but sometimes, as my Foster Mom says, I can be "Miss Bossy Pants" with the other dogs, so she recommends that I am adopted as an only dog -- but she still loves me!! I can't say for sure how I would be with cats or children. I LOVE to go for walks, maybe just lounge on the couch or in my comfy crate, which has the softest blanket in it! My crate will come with me, if you decide to adopt me! I am the perfect girl who is house and crate trained, along with loving treats!! I am ready today to meet you and let you fall in love with me!" "Please email citizens4animals@yahoo.com for an application or for any questions you may have about me! I would make the best companion for an older couple who love taking life slow and easy--just think how much fun we would have!" "I look forward to meeting you soon, and please have the most PAWSome day!" Love, ELLIE **GOOD VERIFIABLE VET REFERENCE REQUIRED**

Story
Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Beaux and feel that you would be a good match for her, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Beaux is a beautiful chocolate and tan, 9-year-old Dachshund who is ready for her forever home. She came to us paralyzed, but quickly regained use of her legs, and can now run and play to her heart's content! This little Doxie has some trouble being still. Even when she’s really tired, she still wants to keep going. And she absolutely LOVES to ride -- in a car, a boat, wheelbarrow, or backpack. As long as she isn't left in the house, she’s a happy little camper! Although Beaux does very well with the other dogs in her foster family, she is capable of entertaining herself and probably would do well without another canine companion, as long as she has human companionship. Beaux also LOVES children! Like most Dachshunds, she is highly intelligent... and a bit more mischievous than your average pup. Because of Beaux’s high energy level, she tries to go up and down stairs, hop off the furniture, etc. -- things that Dachshund's really aren't supposed to do. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so she can run and explore safely. Her foster home has a fenced yard with a doggie door. Her foster parents have not taught her to walk on a leash, which is one thing we're hoping her new family will be able and willing to do for her. Beaux is housetrained, but her back injury affected her bladder-control and at times she may dribble when she walks toward the door. She wears a doggie diaper most of the time in her foster home. Like most Dachshund's, Beaux has a great appetite! She enjoys carrots and other veggies… and she loves watermelon. She has a few favorite chew toys -- one of which is a golf ball! Beaux is healthy and isn't currently on any special medications other than a supplement for joint support. She is current on her Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccine and is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and had her teeth cleaned. She tested negative for Heartworms, and is on Heartguard for Heartworm prevention. Beaux's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Beaux is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Beaux would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.

Story
Clifford has lived a long and eventful life, living in many environments and befriending many pets of all sizes. He’s always been very loving, expressive and energetic. He can be stubborn and will always stand up for what he believes in, like a cozy bed or fresh water with his meals. Later in life, there were bigger dogs around that Clifford was sometimes attacked by. This has sadly left him more reactive and untrusting. He mostly feels safe around adult women or old men. He doesn’t generally feel safe around larger dogs, sassy cats, young children, and sometimes adult men. When he feels unsafe or trapped he may go into the trash or tear up a rug to release his anxiety. His Mom would love to keep him and work with these behaviors but she is now facing an unfortunate lack of housing and no longer has a safe environment for Clifford. If he were to go back to his Dads house, he will be at risk for further attacks, making this the absolute last resort option. I’m happy to answer questions!

Story
Archie was rescued from Mexico last year. His birthday is 2/4/23 so he's about a year and a half. He's neutered, chipped, and vaccinated, although he is now due for his yearly boosters. He's the absolute sweetest dog you'll ever meet. All he lives for is to cuddle and lay in your lap. He'd be the perfect companion for someone who maybe works from home or is retired. He does well with children. He gets along with other dogs as well as cats. He sometimes likes to chase cats when they run but he's playing, not being aggressive. He would do well with someone who has a fenced yard so he has room to run. He loves to go on walks and explore. He does like to bark at things like a typical dachshund/pomeranian does. He's potty pad trained as that's how he was when we rescued him. I've attempted to get him to potty outside and he is massively stubborn. I believe with a fenced yard, this would be able to trained.
