Story
Please contact melissa (melissa@pawsandprayers.org) for more information about this pet.  Meet Spud!  He is about 2 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and is a dachshund mix. Spud is a gentle boy. He’s very sensitive and has a wonderful personality. He does get scared very easy so he will need somebody who can take the time and make him feel at home. He does wear belly bands at his Foster’s home as he does pee in the house, he does know he is not supposed to pee as he shows guilt after it’s done but can’t help himself. When he gets scared he does also pee. With this little downfall, he will be coming with belly bands, which he does keep on and uses. He only goes poop outside and Foster never had a problem with him pooping inside she didn’t even have to train him to do that. Spud does love to sleep with his foster mom and loves to cuddle when she gets home from work. That’s his favorite thing to do and he is just the sweetest, most gentle little guy. He also has some allergies which creates a buildup of yeast in his ears, but as long as he eats chicken limited ingredient food he does fine. Spud has not met cats, but does well with rabbits. A home with no children or older children is ideal for Spud. His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website  www.pawsandprayers.org. Spud's adoption fee is $250.    ***The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website www.pawsandprayers.org. Story
Charlie is part of a litter whose mom is a Schipperke/Dachshund mix. Charlie weighs 24 pounds currently. The dad is not known but mom is a 12 pound Schipperke/pomeranian. Charlie was born 8/18/23. He is so cute and looks like a miniature black labrador retriever mixed with a dachshund body. He has been neutered and had three distemper/parvo shots plus lepto, Bordetella, a one year rabies, and has been microchipped. He is wormed and on flea and heartworm meds. To adopt this beautiful puppy, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org and we will see if he will be a good fit for you. Any questions, email  marty@pawsandprayers.org .  Charlie would like another dog in the home because he enjoys playing with dogs so much. He loves humans too. He is a sweetheart and loves to carry sticks into the house, loves belly rubs and gives great kisses.  Thinking about a new puppy….. things to keep in mind: Puppy will need time, training, love and connection, mixed in with a load of attention. Best if children are school age or older; we will consider younger children only on exception basis. Puppies have small bladders and need to have someone to let them out regularly for potty breaks…..work from home, work part-time, come home at lunch…..need a plan as they will need you every 4 to 5 hours until they are at least 6 to 8 months old. Will your current pet be willing to accept a new puppy. Puppies can be a handful. Will you be traveling extensively for the next couple of months? Puppy proofing your home is like baby proofing you home; it requires effort. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org.  The adoption fee is $350. July 25, 2024, 9:53 pm

Story
Henry He is the sweetest cuddle bug!!! I have never seen a dog so skilled at giving the “puppy dog eyes”. He will just look at you and then rest his head on you. He Loves his treats!! Pretty quiet but will bark if someone comes to the door. He follows you everywhere. He does not have the puppy energy but not an old man by any means. Best guest is 4 or 5 years old. Vet had no idea on breed… most likely Doxie and Lab mix, approx 30 lbs. Good with other dogs, cats, kids…. He’s pretty bomb proof. Does not do well being kenneled or left alone for any amount of time, but is well behaved when left with another dog and can roam around the house. Definitely potty trained and no longer marking now that he has been neutered. Knows basic commands and eager to please.

Story
Ocho is believed to be a dachshund-terrier mix, estimated to be 3-6 years old based on dental. He was seized from a hoarder house with 25 other dogs on the property. Due to that environment, he is still working on his house training! He needs your patience and willingness to train. He is very motivated to earn a treat by going outside. A fully fenced yard is a must! He has been fostered in a home with one other larger dog, a cat, and a toddler. He would do best in a home with a companion dog and/or child. He is very patient and gentle with small children, but does not do great with cats. (Will mark/become territorial) Ocho is a sweet boy who loves to smile and give kisses. He wants to be wherever you are to give and receive affection.

Story
** Must be in a home with other dogs. No exceptions. ** ** Spudz (0010-S) is her best friend, and they are very close together for those who may be looking to add two dogs into their home. We would love for them to stick together.** Sweet little Mia came from Alabama after finding herself abandoned and alone. We found her sitting in the kennels alone after being listed for euthanization due to the shelter lacking resources (among all the other animals). Would not let anyone approach her by attempting to run off but, once she's in your arms, she just wants to snuggle... for a moment, anyways. We learned she was an Owner Surrender at the ETOWAH County Shelter for Unspecified Reasons. Mia was surrendered in questionable conditions. Mia has always been quiet among the chaos and despite being through a lot, she has made a lot of progress in opening up, with dogs in the home being the #1 influence. Otherwise, she's very independent and paces around the home trying to avoid people. Eye contact is too much for her on the first few days, but if you look away, she'll follow you. Sometimes you can't help but "awe" at her shyness. It has its own charms. This girl needs a home with patience and allows her to just have her own space without giving her "too" much to prevent separation anxiety building up - unless her adopters are retired or consistently home, frequently. She likes to sleep at the bottom of the bed or next to your pillow. When you're doing something, she's curious as to what you're doing by looking at you around the corner, but you have to pretend you don't see her, of course. When she's with other dogs, she's a lot livelier and wants to engage with them. However, we don't think she's ever had toys and has to watch other dogs play first. Recently, she learned how fun running around a yard can be. Mia has also become more engaging to the home environment and the people there.
