Story
Luna is a 6-year-old black Lab–Dachshund mix and an absolute cuddle bug. She’s incredibly loving and thrives on affection. Her only challenge is anxiety around unfamiliar dogs. She has had three past incidents involving other dogs, which we believe stem from being attacked by a German Shepherd as a puppy. That said, Luna does very well with dogs she knows and has never shown any aggression toward our other dog. She is excellent with children and has never displayed even the slightest aggression toward people. At this stage in our lives, with the demands of caring for our children, we’re no longer able to give our dogs the time and attention they deserve.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Guthrie is the sweetest little guy.  He’s extremely laid back except for mealtimes and when he’s on squirrel patrol.  We don’t know his history, only that when he  arrived at a local pound he was in pretty rough shape.  He was so badly matted that he had to be anesthetized to get shaved down.  It’s obvious that he did not have the best life before that, but that’s all changed for him now.   When he first arrived at his foster home, he marked his territory a lot.  There are three other dogs there and I suppose he just wanted to communicate that he belonged here too.  He’s over that now, but there’s a good chance that behavior could resurface for a bit if he goes to another home with other dogs.  (He does get along with other dogs just fine, other than that.)    Our little Guthrie also struggled with being in a cage while his foster mom was away.  He finally grew to tolerate it, but would be stressful for him. So she decided to stop crating him and see how he did.  He is doing great!  He is perfectly behaved while foster mama isn’t home.     We have him marked as “special needs” because we believe his hearing isn’t 100%.   He’s nowhere near deaf, but sometimes you have to use your outside voice when trying to get his attention.   Guthrie is a really good boy and really, really deserves a better life than he’s undoubtedly had in the past.  He’s smart.  When he understands what you want him to do, he will try his best to do it.  He’s very food-motivated, which is a huge plus for training!  And if you haven’t already noticed, he’s also very cute!   Want a cuddle buddy when you’re on the couch watching TV?  Guthrie’s your guy!  It’s his favorite pastime. He’s very good-natured and easy-going.  Except for maybe when it comes to the critter-type trespassers.  Guthrie would love a chance to be your boy!   He promises to protect your property from the threat of all squirrels, both foreign and domestic!   You can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:  adoption application  .   For those viewing on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal please click on More About Rose's Rescue, you may fill out adoption application from there. Story
Meet Scarlett!! Scarlett is a cranky senior, 11 years old, who has not had a great life! She originally came from the Lorain County Kennel as a stray. She had a skin infection from fleas, double ear infections and basically no hair on her back. Fast forward after some TLC all her hair has grown in, and her ears have been treated. She is spayed and completely vaccinated. We had an x-rays done to see if she had any back issues that would explain her fear of being picked up, but the Doctor said she just had some age-related arthritis. Scarlett is 32 Lbs. (should weigh about 28#). Scarlett is house-trained, crate-trained, and is a well-behaved house dog. Scarlett is looking for the right person to love her how she is and understand that she is looking for a roommate who will just let her live out the rest of her golden years. Scarlett is NOT a lap dog, and she will not tolerate being picked up. We think something in her past has made her very reactive to being picked up. She is a bossy Terrier mix, at first, but once she trusts you, she will seek pets on her terms. Scarlett is looking for someone that just wants a house dog to watch TV with and just hang out. She needs a fenced in yard so she can have the freedom to wonder around. She does well with other dogs and will even engage play, once she is comfortable with them. She has been conditioned to wear a muzzle when grooming or vetting was required. She tolerates the muzzle, once she trusts you. She has never bitten anyone but will try to snap if you try to pick her up. She is very food and treat motivated so she will respond to going into her crate for a treat and does not mind traveling in a crate, in the car. Scarlett just needs an experienced owner with no kids because kids would want to pick her up. If you are interested in Scarlett, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Scarlett would be a good match for you. Adoption fee/donation is $50.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O.
