Story
Don't look now, but we have another LOW RIDER!! And this little guy is about as cute as they come.Baby Skipper is a 14–15-week-old short-legged little nugget who was recently sprung from the Memphis Animal Shelter. We believe he may be a low-rider mix, but whatever he is, he's 100% adorable.Skipper has received his vaccinations and deworming and is now settling into one of our awesome foster homes, where he's getting the full puppy experience with kids, dogs, and cats. He's still acclimating to everything, but so far, so good. He's doing pretty well in his crate. He may give you a few little huffs and puffs when he goes in, but then settles down and goes to sleep. Kids? He LOVES them — although he's currently in full-blown puppy mode, which means those little teeth are everywhere and ankles are apparently very exciting. Older kids who understand puppies would be a good fit.And because Skipper is, well, a puppy, his new family needs to be ready for all that comes with one: house training, crate training, leash walking, basic obedience, lots of appropriate chewing, continued socialization and plenty of patience. He'll need supervision, routine, exercise, and lots of opportunities to learn how to be a very good dog. Puppies don't come pre-programmed!Skipper is healthy and will return to one of our Memphis veterinarians for his second vaccine in mid-September. Once he's ready, he'll head north to New England. He's not neutered yet because he's too young. He has also been noted to have an undescended testicle, which will require abdominal surgery when he's approximately 6–8 months old. Paws New England will cover this surgery at one of our partner veterinarians at no cost to his adopter. If this little low rider looks like someone you could fall completely in love with, don't wait too long to apply. These short-legged guys tend to disappear pretty quickly — and honestly, we're not surprised. Just look at that face! All known information about the animal is listed above. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known historyName: SkipperBreed: Dachshund/Terrier   (Breed Mix is not guaranteed - no DNA testing has been done)Sex: MaleAge: 14 weeksWeight: 18.0 (approx 55-60 lbs when adult)Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. All vaccinations required after adoption are the adopter's responsibility.Heartworm: Too young (testing is done at 6 months of age)Housetrained:  Not usuallyMicrochipped: YesLocation of dog currently:   Tennessee       Puppy Adoption Fee:  $600.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)                                    $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee applies to Massachusetts residents.Adoption Fee Includes:~Preadoption vaccinations, complete examinations, and microchipping.~Spay/neuter surgery rebate, paid to the adopter once proof of surgery is provided to Paws New England. We are happy to provide a list of low-cost spay/neuter clinics upon request.ATTENTION: Puppies are wonderful—but they are also a big commitment. Before applying, please make sure you're ready for the time, patience, and training they require.>Puppies should not be crated for more than 3–4 hours at a time.>Your home will need to be puppy-proofed.>Expect chewing, nipping, scratching, accidents, and lots of supervision while they learn.>If you have young children, be sure they're prepared for normal puppy behavior.>Training, socialization, exercise, and consistency are essential.  Unless you're an experienced dog owner and your Adoption Coordinator is comfortable with your experience, you will be required to attend puppy training and/or behavior classes. Our goal is to help you and your puppy build a happy, successful, lifelong relationship.Important InformationPaws New England is a foster-based rescue. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes throughout the South and New England.Your adoption donation helps cover veterinary care, transportation, and other expenses for your adopted dog. It also helps us continue to save senior dogs and dogs with serious medical needs or injuries. While their adoption donations are often reduced, their veterinary costs are typically much higher. When you adopt a young, healthy dog or puppy, you're also helping us give another dog a second chance. Thank you for supporting our mission and making rescue possible.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPaws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need. Paws New England abides by the dog importation regulations set forth in the states of MA, CT, NH and RI.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bonded Duo Looking for Their Forever Home ❤️ Scooby and his brother, Pepper, are searching for a forever home where they can stay together. At 12 years young, these sweet boys have unexpectedly found themselves in need of a new family. Don't let their age fool you—they have plenty of energy, love life, and still act much younger than their years! Meet Scooby Scooby enjoys his walks but his favorite exercise happens indoors! Every single day, he proudly empties the toy box to make sure every squeaky toy still squeaks. Every. Toy. Every. Day. It's one of his many charming quirks that is sure to make you smile. Scooby does resource guard his bones, so mealtime and special treats are best managed appropriately. He and Pepper have always been the only dogs in their home and would love to remain the center of someone's world. However, they could happily live with another respectful, easygoing dog that understands Scooby's boundaries and won't interfere with his prized bones. Scooby is a healthy little guy who recently had a dental procedure that included 13 extractions, along with a full blood panel and removal of a small growth on his chest. He has recovered well, is up to date on all vaccinations, and is microchipped.   Meet Pepper Pepper likes to stay fit by chasing squirrels and chipmunks and enjoying long walks on leash. When he's finished with his daily workout, his favorite place is curled up next to his person for a good snuggle. Pepper is a healthy little guy who recently had a dental procedure that included 18 extractions, along with a full blood panel and removal of a large fatty tumor. He has recovered well, is up to date on all vaccinations, and is microchipped. The Perfect Pair Scooby and Pepper are: House trained Great on leash Excellent car riders Friendly with other small dogs Wonderful with older, respectful children These loving brothers have spent their entire lives together and are looking for a family willing to give them the love, comfort, and security they deserve for their golden years. In return, they'll reward you with endless companionship, laughter, and twice the love. Could your home be the forever home Pepper and Scooby have been waiting for? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lucy! ❤️ This sweet senior lady is looking for her forever home at the tender age of 12½. Lucy is a gentle, affectionate girl with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines through every wag of her tail. When Lucy came to us, she was carrying a little too much love, weighing in at over 18 pounds. Her diet is already going wienerful—she has shed 3 pounds and has just 5 more to go to reach her ideal weight! Lucy recently had a dental and senior wellness blood panel and is ready to settle into a loving new home. Lucy is not a fan of large dogs. She currently coexists peacefully with her foster brother and sisters but prefers not to interact much. Lucy is blind in her right eye, so if another dog approaches her from that side, she may react. A laid-back canine companion could be a good fit, as long as they respect Lucy's space. She also requires daily eye drops. If you're looking for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to love you, be loved in return, and spend her golden years by your side, Lucy may just be your perfect match. ❤️ Age: 12½ years Adoption Fee: $300 Apply only at: Paw Affection Rescue If you have questions that aren't answered in Lucy's bio, please feel free to call or email.
