Story
Bean is a sweet and affectionate dog, but she seems to have experienced some trauma in the past. We adopted her from the local animal hospital, where she had been abandoned. They said they think she had at least 3 pregnancies and may have come from a puppy mill. She gets along fine with people, but fights a lot with our other dog, which is the only reason we are looking to rehome her. Bean is high energy, but she does not know how to play. She enjoys walks and being in the yard. She loves petting and sitting on your lap, and loves being under blankets. Bean loves to eat, is very food driven and can be territorial over food. Bean needs to be an only pet, or she may be able to get along with bigger dogs, but we do not have a way of testing that. Bean is house trained, but she will occasionally pee on blankets if they lay around. We think that may also be territorial. She knows how to sit, stand on her hind legs ("up"), turn, and give her paw. She is not crate trained that we know of.

Story
Meet Boots! Boots is a sweet Dachshund-Poodle mix, about 15 lbs and 1.5 years old, with a striking black-and-white coat. This friendly and loving guy enjoys playtime, cuddles, and spending quality time with his people. Boots has a curious streak and loves toys, frisbees, and treats, but he's just as happy relaxing nearby and soaking up attention from his family. He even has a funny habit of nuzzling his nose right through your arm-he's a little Velcro dog who loves being close! Boots knows basic commands like sit and is eager to learn more with gentle, consistent training. He responds well to his name and is ready to continue mastering commands like down, stay, and come. He is house-trained and walks well on a leash. Boots would thrive in a home where someone can spend time with him throughout the day, though he's also happy just being near his humans. He does well with children 4+ who understand gentle play, and he enjoys the company of other dogs once introductions are made slowly. Boots is perfect for a small family, a couple, or a single person looking for a relaxed, affectionate companion who enjoys being part of daily life. His calm and loving personality makes him a joy to have around. Boots' adoption fee includes his neuter and microchip, and he is current on vaccines. Contact us at adopt@carolinapaws.com to meet this sweet, laid-back guy!

She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time then she is not the dog for you and you will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect and you adopt them because you want to make them whole but some take longer than others, is that you? She really needs to have time to know she is safe and relax and she will give you love but she wants it back too. Do not disappoint her, give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must haves for Pip are: • A fenced in yard • Another young, small, and well socialized dog • Someone that can be home most of the time or works from home • Please no apartments, condos or high rises Please if you are interested reach out and we will let you know all about the sweet gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
