Story
Meet Mr. Scruffles, the ultimate furry best friend! This 3-year-old, 25-pound cutie has never met a stranger—he adores everyone, and trust us, the feeling is mutual! Mr. Scruffles is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. One moment, he’s zooming around the yard, playing catch, or winning a game of tug-of-war, and the next, he’s curled up on the couch, soaking up belly rubs. He’s the ideal companion for both adventure and relaxation. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and making great progress with leash training. Mr. Scruffles is also cat-friendly and gets along well with most dogs after a slow introduction. He has met kids and done wonderfully with them! Currently, he shares his foster home with two other dogs and loves their company, but he would also thrive as an only dog—as long as he has his beloved humans by his side. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and endlessly charming companion, Mr. Scruffles is your guy! As of early February, Mr. Scruffles is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Meet Buddy! Buddy is a charming 2-year-old Dachshund/Beagle mix with a handsome brown and black coat, weighing in at 24 pounds. This sweet boy is as loving as they come, with an intelligent and eager-to-please nature that makes him a joy to be around. He gets along wonderfully with kids, cats, and other dogs, and his calm, gentle demeanor makes him an ideal addition to just about any family. Buddy loves to have fun with zoomies, playing with toys, and relaxing in his cozy bed. He adores spending time with people and will even lay his head in your lap as if he’s admiring you, a gesture so sweet it’s sure to melt your heart. While Buddy hasn’t been left alone for extended periods, he’s shown he can handle short absences with ease and would fit well in a home with a family who can spend time with him. Fully house trained and a great listener, Buddy is ready to be your new best friend. He’s adaptable and would be an excellent match for a first-time pet owner or someone experienced with dogs. Whether you’re a young family with kids or looking for a calm and loving companion, Buddy has the perfect temperament to fit right in. Buddy is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped. Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Maizie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Maizie is 30 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Maizie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.January 22, 2025, 9:20 pm

Story
Our handsome, shy boy is such a miracle to even think about being alive here today.   Archie seems to be a Dachshund/Terrier mix that was found huddled under a car in the icy cold rain and shivering violently with every inch of his body.  He was terrified and we did not know how he got there.  A kind and patient person slowly gained his trust and the ability to pull him out from under the car and bring him inside a home to warm and be fed.  He has been in a foster home ever since and has slowly come to trust and accept the kindness of people.  He is about 5 months old and weighs a light 20 pounds.  He will most probably be a 35 pound boy when fully grown as an adult.   He has the most adorable little body with short legs and head that remind us of Dachshund traits.  He is a tender spirit that is blossoming every day with more reassurance from his wonderful human fosters.  Archie will be an appreciative boy that will love you with all he has as he grows to know that you are not leaving him and his forever.  We love Archie and know that there is someone out there who will give him daily walks that will bring out his personality through the work of accomplishing something like a good walk with his human.  He is housebroken and he is good with other dogs and cats.   He is a dog who is being molded into a sweet companion and a dog who will be one of the more memorable pets you have ever loved and owned. Archie will be a loving project that will show you just what your dedication and love can do in a dog’s life.  We can help guide you along that path of nurturing and confidence building.  We have training consultation if needed via phone.  Our support is always there for our dogs and their needs when adopted or fostered. If you are interested in this darling dog please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com     Mention where you live when you send an email please. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 10, 2025, 12:36 am

They are all now neutered, had dentals, vaccines and fully vetted ready for adoption! Meet Fish, Oscar Meyer, &Sarge All 3 of these sweet boys are 4 to 5 years old. Fish and Sarge both weigh 12 pounds and Oscar Meyer is just a bit bigger he weighs 16 pounds. The boys are mainly dachshund but we think they could be a little mixed with something else. We received them from a shelter in Spruce Pine. All 4 pups including Mammalade were living in a vacant house after their owners moved out in August and sadly left them behind. These boys are very sweet but are a little shy with strangers and comes around quickly with trust so no small children. They would all do well with female dogs, but they have been scrappy with each other here with us. Their adoption fees are $300 each. Name: Whiskey Location: York SC Age: 3 Weight: 14 Vetting done by rescue: neuter vaccines etc House trained: no Crate trained: yes Fence required: yes Apartment/condo appropriate: no Bark meter 1-5: 5 Good in the car: yes Good on a leash:yes Good with other dogs: no Good with cats: no Good with older respectable kids:yes Good with Women/Men/Both: yes Medications: none Temperament: Sweet actiive Special needs:  Adoption fee 400 Story:   Whiskey came to us as a bonded pair with his brother Jager.   We originally adopted them together but when they got to their new home they had multiple violent fights with each and were returned the next day.   I believe they were both being possessive over their new person and didn't want to share the love.   Jager has been adopted and doing great but whiskey is still waiting for his person.   Whiskey loves to go for walks and explore, he would love to cuddle on the couch and give kisses. Whiskey has a high prey drive like most dachshunds so we dont think he will do well with cats.. Whiskey interacts well with other dogs around him in normal situations like at the dog park on a leash etc.    He just needs to be the only pet in his new home as he doesnt want to compete for attention. to adopt please fill out an application. 20.00 application fee applies  https://www.chapmansdox.com/adoptJanuary 23, 2025, 12:08 pm
