Story
Meet Tex – Your Loyal Little Lookout! 🐾 Tex is an approximately 2-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix (or at least that’s our best guess), and he’s the perfect blend of small size and big heart. This sweet boy came to us from a rural shelter where he was very shut down and scared. Since arriving in his foster home, Tex has truly blossomed into a much more relaxed and confident pup. Now that he knows he’s safe, Tex enjoys the comforts of home life: lounging around, following his humans, and hanging out with the other dogs in the house. He’s also curious about the cats, though if they dart off too quickly, he might give a bark or two to let them know he noticed. Tex is an excellent little alert dog who takes his job seriously. If something unusual is happening around the property or if a sneaky squirrel dares to raid the bird feeder, Tex will sound the alarm. He’s got a great nose for mischief and will keep your porch squirrel-free. Tex would thrive in a calm, low-activity home where he can build a strong bond with his adopter. Once he knows he’s safe and loved, he’ll likely become your loyal little shadow. Tex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Please note: Tex is only eligible for local adoption in the San Antonio area at this time. It took him several months to fully warm up in his foster home, and we are hoping to find an adopter nearby. If any issues arise, we want to ensure we can easily bring him back into our care. If you are in the San Antonio area and looking for a sweet and loyal companion, Tex might just be the perfect fit. Go ahead and submit an adoption application for him now! $200 Local Adoption Fee

Meet Amaya, the sweetest, most lovable tripod you’ll ever meet! This beautiful black-coated retriever mix has a heart every bit as big as her adorable smile. Amaya came to us after overcoming a tough start, and one of her back legs had to be removed to give her the comfortable, pain-free life she deserves. Now healed and thriving, Amaya has fully embraced her tripod superpowers! Her three-legged strut is absolutely adorable, and she navigates the world with a happy-go-lucky spirit that inspires everyone who meets her. She loves zooming around the yard, hopping up for cuddles, and showing off just how unstoppable she truly is. Amaya is also a world-class snuggler and adores being close to her people. Whether she’s cuddled at your side, giving endless kisses, or soaking up every bit of affection she can, she’s happiest when she’s loved and she gives that love right back tenfold. Now that she’s strong, joyful, and ready for her next chapter, Amaya is looking for a family to call her own. If you’re searching for a resilient, affectionate companion with a personality as bright as her beautiful black coat, Amaya is your girl. Come meet her and fall in love with this incredible tripod sweetheart! Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Henry – Forever Foster Needed   Henry is a 13-year-old sweetheart who prefers to be the only dog in the home. He loves nothing more than following his human around and curling up beside them for TV time or bedtime snuggles. While he isn’t a fan of being picked up, Henry has no trouble hopping onto the couch or climbing the stairs to join you.   Once he feels settled, Henry will shower his person with kisses and cuddles. He’s easy to medicate, happily taking his morning and evening meds when hidden in cheese or treats.   Henry does best as an only dog, so he’s looking for a quiet home where he can soak up all the love and attention.   Medical Details: Henry has a bad back, arthritis, and muscle tremors. He is on Gabapentin and Methocarbamol (muscle relaxer). As a Forever Foster, all of Henry’s medical needs will be covered through our vet, Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Dickson.   Henry is an adorable boy who just wants a forever person to love him, and in return, he’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty and affection.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 20, 2025, 5:28 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Age: 7 years Breed: Dachshund Waldo is a gentle, loving soul who gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes — big, small, and everything in between. He’s an easygoing companion who adores being close to his people. His favorite hobbies include sleeping under the blankets (human bed or dog bed, he doesn’t discriminate!), snuggling in the recliner, and being your loyal little shadow. He has a very sweet, affectionate personality and bonds deeply with those who care for him. Waldo was diagnosed with Chronic Valvular Disease of the heart, which is well-managed with Vetmedin 1.25 mg (1 tablet twice daily). This medication costs approximately $124.78 for 100 tablets on Chewy, making his ongoing care very manageable. Waldo has also recently had a dental cleaning with five problematic teeth removed, so his smile is healthier than ever! Because he is a tiny escape artist, Waldo will need a family who can keep a close eye on him when he’s outside. For his safety and comfort, Waldo also needs a home with no children under age 10. Waldo is ready for a loving home that will cherish his cuddles, protect his adventurous little spirit, and give him all the cozy blanket time he dreams of.  Medical Notes: Neutered Vaccinated Dewormed Microchipped Heartworm Negative ProHeart 12 Injection Senior Exam + Bloodwork (all levels within normal limits) - diagnosed with Chronic Valvular Disease of the heart, maintained on Vetmedin 1.25 mg - 1 tablet orally twice a day (costs $124.78 through Chewy.com for 100 tablets) Dental Cleaning with 5 problematic teeth being removed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 11, 2025, 9:31 pm

Would that be you? He is a shy boy but with love and patience we know he can be the most loving little boy you have ever had but you need to have patience for him to come out of his shell and be a pet not a breeder dog. You can see the longing in his eyes when you look at him that he wants to trust but he is just not sure, give him that reassurance. He gets along with other small dogs, we do not know about big dogs so we are going to say “no” since he has never been around them. As he settles into his foster home, think about adopting him and giving him your love. We will update his bio as we learn more about him. In the mean time our must haves are: A fenced in yard Another small, adult, well socialized dog for him to learn from Someone that can be home more than not No apartment, high rises, or condos If you are wanting to adopt him then go to our website www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and fill out our online adoption application. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
