Story
Zack's owner sadly passed away and we are unable to keep him due to our other dog not getting along with him, but he does fine with other dogs and we have one cat. He will most likely do best with a single elderly person as that's the kind of home he came from.

Story
We`ve named her Patty Cakes and she arrived with a larger group of small and large dogs. Her best friend is Sabrina A900863 and we would like for them to leave together. They have been missing some lovin` from humans for a longtime as they`ve endured some sad people losses in their lives. Extra patience will be needed to help overcome their fears and to remind them of their indoor manners. If you are compassionate, patient and willing to allow these girls to be girls, while building new human bridges for them, you`re exactly who they need. Please expect to send extra time getting to know them, they are lovely and warm up pretty quickly. They are advocated for by all their shelter family including ClassicCaninesATX who are helping to make bridges out of the shelter for displaced older dogs that took a fork in the road of life due to hardships.

Story
Penny and Poppy are a bonded pair from Louisiana. They were surrendered to a high kill shelter by their owner. One of our FABULOUS foster families happened to be in New Orleans and went hours out of their way to bring them to us! (We have the best fosters!) Anyway, we spayed them, got vaccines and started them on treatment for heartworms. Should they be adopted while being treated for heartworms, Hound Rescue will cover the heartworm treatment if Emancipet is used. Our wonderful vets at Daylily Animal Hospital think they are around 1 to 2 years old. We think Poppy is a Beagle mix and Penny is a Dachshund mix. They are each under 20 pounds. They were terrified of humans at first but are coming around. They are sweet, obedient, and very polite. No mischief and absolutely love snuggling! No need to crate as they are house trained. They are learning to walk on leashes and to play with toys! They both have great recall and are food focus, so training with treats makes great progress. Penny's foster has noticed she displays beagle characteristics during her walks with her nose to the ground taking in all the scents. They would make a great pair for a family looking to expand with smaller dogs.
