Hi! I'm Twix, and I'm a lovable 60 pound 1 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix. My foster family says I'm a playful goofball and a very smart boy. I know lots of commands like sit, down, stay, come, paw, and touch. I'm also house trained. I'm still very much a puppy, so I hope to find a forever family that will help me continue my training. I'm a good leash walker, but I also love running around and playing off leash, so a fenced in yard is definitely on my wish list.My two favorite things in the world are playing and food. I love to play with toys and having play dates with other dogs. I have 3 foster dog siblings right now, so I could be in a home with another dog but I love to be the center of attention too. If you like to snuggle, I'm your guy! I love to snuggle with my humans on the couch. After some morning play time and a walk, I spend the day napping or playing with toys while my foster parents work from home.I can be nervous when meeting new people or going to new places, but treats and positive attention help me get comfortable quickly. Because I'm a big boy and have teenage puppy energy, I would do best in a home without small children. I am about 2 years old. I am crate trained and have had no accidents in the house. I am strong, but my foster dad has taught me to walk on a leash. I really enjoy this exercise and time of bonding. I am a medium sized dog at a little less than 50 pounds. I enjoy the outdoors in a safe, fenced yard, but I am mainly an indoor dog. Won't you please consider adding me to your family? Dottie Darling is estimated to be nine years old, but no one has mentioned that to her. We won't if you don't. This beautifully spotted girl looks every inch a Dalmatian and has plenty of bounce, silliness and enthusiasm for working a room. She will happily make the rounds collecting pets, belly rubs and booty scratches, toss in a little playful moment for good measure, and then retire to the couch like the seasoned professional she is. As always with rescue dogs, breed and age are our best guesses rather than guarantees. Whatever may be in her family tree, Dottie is a wonderfully expressive, delightfully spotty girl with a personality that is all her own. Her energy comes in perfectly manageable little bursts. Dottie enjoys bouncing around, exploring and getting playful, especially when she hears the magical sound of a squeaky toy. She may carry a toy around for a bit, but squeak one and you will have her complete attention. Once she has had her fun, she is more than ready to stretch out and relax. She has big couch-potato energy with just enough playful sparkle mixed in to keep life fun and full of laughs. People are unquestionably Dottie’s favorite. She is confident, affectionate and wonderfully comfortable being handled. During her assessment, she happily moved from person to person collecting attention, rolled onto her back for belly rubs and accepted affection from everyone she met. She forms close bonds with her people and would love a home where she can soak up plenty of one-on-one attention. Dottie is also house trained and has lovely manners in the home. She handles everyday noises and activity well, walks nicely on leash and responds well to guidance. A ground-floor apartment could suit her just fine, provided the complex welcomes a girl of her size and breed. Because she is an older lady, she appreciates breaks, comfortable places to rest and a home that will not expect her to spend long stretches exercising in the heat. Now for the boss-lady portion of Dottie’s résumé. Dottie is dog-friendly, she currently lives with another dog and she has shared her home with him for many years, but their arrangement works because he likes being bossed around and is willing to respect her rules. Dottie's foster find it hilarious because if love is being given out, Dottie wants it to be her turn no matter what the circumstances. She isn't mean, just insistent. Simply, she is not looking for a wrestling partner or a busy canine social life, and her version of the happiest home would be where she is the star of a one-woman all-star show. Dottie has also lived peacefully with cats, and her foster shared they often can be found napping together. When she met our house cat she was very eager to meet him. Because of that difference, we would not consider her broadly cat friendly. A home with a calm, aloof, dog-savvy cat may be possible with slow introductions and thoughtful management, but a pet-free home would offer the most straightforward fit. She would like her people nearby, the temperature comfortable, a squeaky toy available upon request and a couch with enough room for one very spotted snuggler. 🤎🐾 STETSON 🐾🤎 “Sometimes, all it takes is one person to change everything.” Somewhere in Moultrie, Georgia, two college students stopped at McDonald's. They had no idea that before they got back in their car, they would meet a dog who would change the course of their entire day — and possibly his entire life. They witnessed five dogs attacking Stetson. They tried to intervene, but the dogs wouldn't stop. Eventually they managed to drive the pack away, and when they reached Stetson, they saw the puncture wounds covering his face and neck. They could have called someone. They could have driven away. They didn't. They called their parents, put a frightened, injured dog into their car, and drove 14 hours from Georgia to Connecticut because they couldn't bear the thought of leaving him behind. And that's how Stetson found his way to us. Now, let us tell you about the Stetson we know today. That handsome boy who arrived with a face full of wounds has healed. Physically, he's made a wonderful recovery. And emotionally? He's come an awfully long way in a surprisingly short amount of time. When Stetson first arrived, he had every reason to be wary of the world. What happened to him was terrifying, and it takes time to put that kind of experience behind you. But with care, patience, and a whole lot of love from our staff and volunteers, we've watched this boy find his feet again. And then came the Blessing of the Animals at the Lutheran Church. Now, you might expect a dog with Stetson's history to keep a little distance from the animal kingdom. Understandable, right? Not Stetson. While waiting in line, he made friends with a SHEEP and a CHICKEN! Yes, you read that correctly. A sheep and a chicken. Apparently, Stetson has decided that the world has some pretty interesting new friends in it. He is still a little leery of some dogs, and we respect that. After what he experienced, he deserves thoughtful introductions and the opportunity to decide who he feels comfortable around. But his progress has been remarkable, and we're not going to overlook just how far he's come. We LOVE this dog. And we're certainly not the only ones. The young couple who drove all those hours from Georgia to give him a chance loved him enough to change his entire future. We think about that kindness often. Stetson is living proof that a terrible experience doesn't have to define the rest of a dog's life. He is no longer the injured dog from that Georgia parking lot. He's a handsome, recovering, increasingly confident young man who is discovering that life can be pretty wonderful after all. We believe love heals. Stetson is showing us what that looks like. Now it's time for his next chapter. A home where he can continue to grow in confidence. People who will appreciate him for the wonderful dog he is. A soft place to land, a little patience when he needs it, and plenty of reasons to keep trusting the world. The two students who rescued him gave Stetson his second chance. We got to watch him heal. Now we'd love to see him get the happy ending he's worked so hard for. Because this story was never meant to be about the five dogs who attacked him. It's about the two people who stopped, the people who cared for him, and one very special dog who found his way back to happiness. Stetson has come a long way. Woof (Hi) I'm Sandy and I will follow you everywhere. It's hard to get a good picture of me because I'm always at your feet with every step. I'm a bit shy to start, but once I trust you, I won't leave your side. I am very athletic, super smart and problem solve. You may need to get up early to keep ahead of me! I learn commands really fast and would make an excellent household service dog! I currently know how to come, sit, down, high five, touch (nose to your fist) and (on her own) how to open and close the gate latches ;) lol. I am also crate trained, and will put my "paws up" to be lifted to my second story crate.
