MEET BLITZ, an 85-lb stunning Doberman male who is waiting for his forever home. Blitz is a large Dobie, almost 2 years old. He is a dark red, almost chocolate color and is magnificent in appearance. Blitz is currently in training in the Los Angeles area to overcome some fears and quirks he has had in the past. He is affectionate with people he knows but in the past was tense and suspicious with strangers, especially if he is in a confined space. He can also be a bit stubborn, though his training is helping tremendously. Blitz gets along great with other dogs-- he has previously lived happily with a female Doberman in his foster home. Because of his size and strength, a home without small children is mandatory. Blitz has high energy and would benefit from having a yard, where he can run and play. Blitz is also hypo-thyroid so is on inexpensive thyroid medication, which will likely be forever. We believe Blitz is of European ancestry and like all Euro-Dobies, he has heavier bones and a larger head than the more petite American Dobies. Blitz is without question a lot of dog! But he is a lot of really good dog. Doberman or large-dog experience is a must for his adoption. Please email for an application.

Meet Sailor! This gorgeous dobie pup recently came to AFRP with a heartbreaking story. Sailor was found emaciated and tied to a fence, in desperate need of help. Now, she's on the road to a fulfilling life but she's looking for a furever family! Sailor is your typical pup, and would love to find a cozy home to spend her holidays in! She's still young, so she's looking for an active home and would likely do just fine with another playful pup. At this time, it's currently unknown how she may do with cats. Sailor would love to find experienced adult adopters, but may do well with families who have dog-savvy children over the age of ten at this time. Sailor will require pre-registration to general obedience classes with proof sent to AFRP prior to adoption. Sailor is also seeking a foster home! He is a bit of an anxious fellow and would do best as an only dog in the house--he has been bit by a large breed dog before and is reactive with most of them.

Story

Lucky is a 15-month-old puppy who is well-mannered and knows basic commands. He’s easygoing and doesn’t have an alpha personality, making him a great companion. He enjoys hanging out more than being a working dog, which might not fully align with our family’s lifestyle. While he can go on long hikes, his mobility isn’t as strong compared to our Malinois. Lucky gets along well with our 6-year-old Malinois, although he can sometimes be a little annoying to our older dog since he’s still very much a big baby at heart. Occasionally, our older dog snaps at him, but Lucky is not territorial or aggressive and gets along fine with other dogs. He’s great with our four boys and very patient with them. I believe Lucky would thrive in a family that is ready to spoil him with TLC and treat him as a beloved companion without any working expectations.
