No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cheerio likes to be around people but prefers to initiate contact herself instead of people going to her. She likes to smell your hand and if she approves, she loves to be petted on her head, ears and neck. Its her absolute favorite thing and she will purr so loud when she is being pet. If she is around someone she knows, she likes to sit next to them. She likes stringy toys and to play with them, especially if a person plays with her. She is fine around other cats but has never been around dogs. She prefers when children keep their distance because she gets scared of them but once she gets to know them, she lets them pet her. She prefers older children to babies. She doesn't like to be touched on her tummy and will move your hand away with her paws if you try to touch her tummy. She gets lonely when left alone too long. She loves to sit in high places so her favorite spot to sit is on a high bar chair. She doesn't mind being combed as long as you dont comb her tummy hair. She absolutely loves to sit and lie down in cardboard boxes. She only likes dry food. She will never eat wet food despite being offered many times. Despite his visual challenges, Benson enjoys his relaxing life. He's looking for a patient and understanding person or family who can provide a safe and secure haven. Benson's Personality: Benson is an affectionate cat who craves attention. He loves being petted and brushed and then will go chill in one of his favorite spots. Currently his favorite spot is a Chewy box that's on its side. He absolutely loves to feel the outdoor air while sitting at the screen door at the front of our house when the weather is nice. Benson meows when he is lonely, wants companionship or food. Special Needs: Having lost his left eye due to glaucoma and having limited vision in his right eye, Benson is mostly blind. A calm and quiet environment makes him feel comfortable and secure. Ideal Home: The perfect person (or family) for Benson would be one that: Other pets in the house: He would do best as an only pet. While he gets along with the other mellow male cats in his foster home, but would love to be an only pet so he can get all the attention. Is patient and understanding: Benson needs a home where his unique needs are respected and accommodated. Is willing to provide ongoing care: Benson may require additional care and accommodations as he ages. She enjoys scratches along her back and cat toys. Whether it’s nap time or play time, she will be entertained for hours. A friend of mine dropped her off and never came back for her ! She is 7yrs old and I can’t keep her because my husband is allergic to her and he has been sick for about 2 weeks now due to her ! She need to go to a new home ASAP !!! She is not my cat but I need to find her a home now !
