Meet Pelusa! This 10 month old kitty came to the Shelter with her friend Miu after the previous guardian’s landlord said that they could not stay in the home. Although not bonded, Miu and Pelusa would make a great pair of kitties for someone looking to adopt buddies. Pelusa would thrive in an indoor home that will commit to keeping her long hair brushed and clean. She may do well with other animals with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Pelusa`s adoption fee has been sponsored by the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter`s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in the Shelter. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Mick Foley & Tofu! These bonded kittens grew up in a foster home where they learned the world isn’t so scary. Although still a little shy, they have certainly come a long way. They are bonded kittens that cry out for each other when separated so we are looking for a home for them together. They are sometimes fearful with loud noises so a quiet, cat savvy home would be best. A home with a resident kitty friend may be a fit for this duo, provided there is a slow, thoughtful introduction. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Story
Penny is a queen in both attitude and personality! With a bold and confident demeanor, she loves being the center of attention and has no hesitation in speaking her mind. Whether it's during her lively mealtimes or simply because she wants some love, Penny is always ready to engage in a conversation. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is getting brushed — just pick up the brush, and she’ll saunter right over, ready for her pampering session. Penny is incredibly active and loves to play with laser pointers and small mouse plushies. When she has a mouse in her mouth, she’ll proudly carry it around while continuing to chat away, bringing it straight to her human for some much-needed praise. She’s at her most energetic midday and evening, after the sun leaves her favorite spot, though her back legs can sometimes wobble a bit, but that never slows her down. Though not a lap cat, Penny enjoys cozying up by your legs when you're lying down and loves sticking close to people, always hanging around in rooms where there's activity. Penny prefers to be the single queen cat of the household. Likes: Brushing sessions, mealtime conversations, cuddling at your feet Dislikes: Being ignored during playtime, too much quiet time
