Story
Meet Kat! Kat is a gentle, one-year-old sweetheart who traded in her days as a stray for cozy naps and head scratches. With her soft purrs and playful spirit, she’s the perfect mix of curious kitten and calm companion. Kat loves batting around her catnip toys, exploring new spaces at her own pace, and curling up with a soft blanket when playtime winds down. Though she may be a bit shy at first, she warms up with gentle attention and quickly becomes a loyal little shadow. While she’s not a fan of being picked up, she adores being near her people and will happily lean in for pets, especially head and cheek scratches. Kat is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready to bring joy to a loving home. She’d do well with individuals or families of any age who can give her time to settle in, plenty of play, and affection on her terms. Kat is being cared for by a member of the community.  To arrange to meet this cat or find out more, please fill out our application here: https://www.thedancingcat.org/adopt-courtesy For more information regarding our Courtesy Posts, see www.thedancingcat.org/courtesy-postsAugust 13, 2025, 2:13 pm

Story
Fritz is a handsome 12-year-old, part–Maine Coon gentleman with medium-long brown hair and a solid 15-lb presence. While he may look majestic and fluffy, Fritz is truly all heart. He’s affectionate and enjoys being close to his people, though he’s not a lap cat, his favorite place is simply nearby, soaking in human companionship. Fritz strongly prefers people over other cats and would be happiest as the only feline in the home. He can coexist with another cat given time, but slow introductions are essential. It once took about six months for him to warm up to a feline companion.  People are Fritz’s main source of enrichment. While he has toys he enjoys, his greatest stimulation comes from being around his humans, especially listening to them talk. He even seems to have a soft spot for male voices, possibly a nod to his first owner. Raised by humans from birth, Fritz has no hunting behaviors and is very people-oriented. He is wary of unfamiliar dogs at first, though with proper introductions, he may adjust to them more easily than to other cats. If you’re looking for a calm, devoted companion who wants to share space, conversation, and quiet moments with you, Fritz may be your perfect match. Fritz is being cared for by a member of the community.  To arrange to meet this cat or find out more, please fill out our application here: https://www.thedancingcat.org/adopt-courtesy For more information regarding our Courtesy Posts, see www.thedancingcat.org/courtesy-postsDecember 17, 2025, 5:27 pm

Story
Tulip is a 5-month-old long-haired dilute calico with the sweetest mix of playfulness and affection. Though she can be a little shy at first, once she feels comfortable she blossoms into a loving companion who enjoys pets and cozy naps by your side, she even sleeps with her foster mom at night. Tulip is still a kitten at heart and loves playtime, but she would thrive most in a calm, quiet home without small children. With patience and love, Tulip will reward her forever family with endless affection and gentle cuddles. Tulip is being cared for by a member of the community.  To arrange to meet this cat or find out more, please fill out our application here: https://www.thedancingcat.org/adopt-courtesy For more information regarding our Courtesy Posts, see www.thedancingcat.org/courtesy-postsOctober 2, 2025, 4:50 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Princess with a Big Heart & TailMercedes is a fun loving princess looking for her forever home. Mercedes is initially shy and it takes a few days for her to take over the house. Then she will own the place and will tell you so. She is quite vocal when she wants to play and at meal times. She loves chasing after feather and other wand toys. She requires you to participate. She naps on her own and plays with her humans. Mercedes wants to be a lap cat but she needs to know you first. Initially she prefers to sit next to her human while they read or watched television. She enjoys brushing. It's needed to care for all that fluff. That fur makes her look larger than she is. After years as a single cat, Mercedes is not prepared to share her human with another cat. She truly wants to be the princess in the castle. When Mercedes returned to us she received a complete medical check up and updated vaccines. Unfortunately the vet found two problems. Mercedes has a grade 2-3 heart murmur and mild to moderate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She receives twice daily oral medication that she takes without complaining. Fortunately Mercedes is completely asymptomatic and enjoys and active life. Her heart problems do not stop her from running around just like a healthy cat. Come meet Mercedes and her tail. It has a life of its own. Here is her kitten bio: Mercedes was named after the car under which she was found. She was a scrappy little girl at 1.5 lbs, ready to take on all comers. With some TLC and regular meals, Mercedes no longer hides under the bed and prefers being with people. She knows being an extrovert is a lot more fun. While she plays well alone, attacking her toys and packing paper, she prefers interacting with her human friends getting them to move the wand toys and using their legs as launch pads. After playtime, a lap is a good place to crash. Mercedes is vocal only at meal time. She has the cutest “mew.” She also likes a solid routine: food, play, nap, cuddlesVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. To Adopt one of our Cats or Kittens, please fill out an Online Adoption Application on our website  https://www.13thstcats.org/info/adoption If the animal bio says that they are a "Courtesy Listing", the contact information will be included in the animal bio for you to reach out to them directly. Thank you for wanting to Adopt! -------------- 13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose. We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat August 7, 2025, 6:29 pm
