Story
Meet a gentle longhaired soul in search of a forever hero. Lulu is a tender female who came to us in mid-November after being found as a stray by a kind Good Samaritan. Unfortunately, her rescuer couldn’t keep her due to having other pets and limited space. Lulu’s journey to safety didn’t end there and she was brought to ARF. She’s now looking for a special someone to help her feel truly at home. Lulu’s soft, luxurious coat will need regular brushing to stay tangle-free. This will be a perfect opportunity for bonding and quiet moments together. She is very shy and easily frightened, so she needs an adopter willing to go slow, watch her body language and follow her lead as she learns to trust again. When Lulu first arrived, she hid and slept in her litter box, crouched down, fearful of everything around her. She’s made some progress and now feels a bit safer sleeping just behind it. Our specially trained TLC volunteers have been working with Lulu to show her that people can be gentle and loving. They have also been working on proving to her that there is safety and comfort in human companionship. She will thrive in a quiet home without loud noises or too much activity and with an adopter who is patient, confident and willing to be her steady guide. We don’t know what hardships Lulu faced while fending for herself on the streets. But one thing is clear, she is ready for a forever hero who will offer her love, patience and security. Lulu may be shy now, but with the right person, her heart will open and she will learn that a gentle hand can bring warmth, safety and comfort to a life that has known so little of it. Could you be the hero Lulu has been waiting for? The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

Story
Meet Lynyrd Skynyrd, a shy little rock star in need of his encore. 🎸🐾 Lynyrd Skynyrd is a longhaired gray male kitten who came to us at the start of December, transferred from an overcrowded shelter. He’s still very much a baby, but right now he’s more “backstage” than center stage. Think of him as a rock star ducking behind the curtain to avoid the paparazzi. This sweet boy is shy and a bit nervous. New situations feel overwhelming for him. Lynyrd will need a patient, gentle adopter who understands that trust takes time. With reassurance, quiet encouragement and consistency, he’ll slowly feel safe enough to let his guard down and show his true personality. Once he does, we’re confident his confidence and his inner rock star will shine through. Because Lynyrd is longhaired, he’ll also need an adopter who is committed to regular brushing. Gentle grooming will help keep his coat tangle-free, comfortable and looking its best. It can also become a bonding experience as he learns to associate touch with safety and care. As a kitten, Lynyrd’s adopter can expect: * Daily playtime to help him burn energy and build confidence * Continued socialization, especially at his pace * Regular grooming and nail trims * Lots of patience, understanding and positive reinforcement Kittens grow quickly and with the right support, shy kittens often blossom into deeply loyal and affectionate companions. If you have a calm home, a gentle heart and the patience to help a timid little rock star feel safe enough to step into the spotlight, Lynyrd Skynyrd may be ready to make beautiful music with you. 🎶💙 The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Story
Ruthie is a shy, sensitive girl who takes a little time to feel safe, but once she knows you, she is incredibly loving and wants to be by your side as much as possible. She enjoys being cradled like a baby and loves gentle scratches on her head, tummy, and chin. Ruthie is quite vocal when she’s lonely or hungry and will happily remind you when it’s mealtime. She loves catnip toys and sleeps with her favorite purple purring cat. Because she is nervous and skittish, Ruthie would do best in a quiet home without young children or other animals. She is litter box trained, but cleanliness is very important to her—daily scooping and regular full cleanings are a must, as stress or a dirty box can cause her to urinate outside the box. She has never had issues with going outside the box otherwise. She had a vaccine reaction as a kitten, and her veterinarian recommends she not receive additional vaccines. She has otherwise been very healthy. As a Himalayan/Persian, Ruthie requires regular grooming to prevent matting. She does well with consistent brushing and is typically kept comfortable with a lion cut a few times a year. A groomer who does not require vaccines will be necessary. Ruthie is spayed and microchipped, routinely treated for fleas and worms, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV and heartworm. Her estimated DOB is 11/11/2020. All cats/kittens come with 30 days of free post-adoption support to Petcademy's team of trainers and behaviorists, as well as access to online materials to help settle your new furbaby into your home. Story
Lily Black is a long-haired beauty who came to us after her owner passed away. She may be a bit shy at first, but given a few weeks her personality truly blossoms into a sweet, friendly soul. Her foster mom reports that Lily is very well behaved, has excellent litter box manners, and faithfully uses her scratching posts. She enjoys simply being in the same room as her person, soaking up the companionship. Her favorite place is curled up on the couch next to you, happily accepting gentle belly rubs. Some of her most endearing quirks include her soft chirps when greeting you—sometimes even holding a little conversation—as well as her adorable paw taps and headbutts when she’s asking for attention. She has never been around other animals and we believe she would do best as an only animal in a quiet home. Lily Black is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, routinely treated for fleas and worms, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV and heartworm. Her estimated DOB is 8/7/16.
