Story
We got Nyx from a family member around 2 years ago. She is somewhere in the ballpark of 2 1/2 - 3 years old. She can be a sweet girl but doesnt do well with children and often hisses/scratches at our 8 year old. We are looking to find someone that doesnt have kids, possibly someone older who is at home a lot as she likes to sit on your lap. With her long hair she does tend to have a lot of hairballs. We have tried a lot of things to mitigate this but nothing has worked and she ends up throwing up a lot. It&s difficult for us to keep up with this situation due to our busy schedules. We live in an apartment building and have made a lot of efforts to treat but as we cat clean the entire building fleas have been an issue for her. She has several spots where theyve bitten at her despite deep cleaning/flea drops/bathing. Due to this I think it would be ideal to have a standalone home for her and not a multiple dwelling unit. She has been an indoor cat all her life but loves windows.

Story
Meet a gentle longhaired soul in search of a forever hero. Lulu is a tender female who came to us in mid-November after being found as a stray by a kind Good Samaritan. Unfortunately, her rescuer couldn’t keep her due to having other pets and limited space. Lulu’s journey to safety didn’t end there and she was brought to ARF. She’s now looking for a special someone to help her feel truly at home. Lulu’s soft, luxurious coat will need regular brushing to stay tangle-free. This will be a perfect opportunity for bonding and quiet moments together. She is very shy and easily frightened, so she needs an adopter willing to go slow, watch her body language and follow her lead as she learns to trust again. When Lulu first arrived, she hid and slept in her litter box, crouched down, fearful of everything around her. She’s made some progress and now feels a bit safer sleeping just behind it. Our specially trained TLC volunteers have been working with Lulu to show her that people can be gentle and loving. They have also been working on proving to her that there is safety and comfort in human companionship. She will thrive in a quiet home without loud noises or too much activity and with an adopter who is patient, confident and willing to be her steady guide. We don’t know what hardships Lulu faced while fending for herself on the streets. But one thing is clear, she is ready for a forever hero who will offer her love, patience and security. Lulu may be shy now, but with the right person, her heart will open and she will learn that a gentle hand can bring warmth, safety and comfort to a life that has known so little of it. Could you be the hero Lulu has been waiting for? The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

Story
February is right around the corner, so we should talk about love, which is easy to do when you have a lover like Bernard! Seriously- his photo should be next to the dictionary definition for "cuddles". I should probably start out with what Bernard is not; he is not a Maine Coon, although he does a pretty good impression of one! He is a gorgeous long-haired tiger, who is looked for a lap where he can stretch out and be loved. To that point, I have includede his photo from when he first arrived (photo #4). The difference from then until now is extraordinary; imagine what he will look like once he finds his forever home! Bernard and his sisters were found outside before Christmas, in that cold snap, with no food or water. At 6 months and 8 pounds, he has seen some hardship, and he is ready to find a good home, where he can put his past behind him and focus on keeping his new family happy and loved forever. In addition, Bernard has also: -Tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV; -Is neutered; -Is vaccinated; -Has been treated for fleas and worms; and -Had a negative fecal test. -The balance of his vaccinations are included in our adoption plan. You guys. Look at that face! Can you imagine looking at it every day? If that sounds like perfection, please fill out an application today. https://www.catsanctuaryashland.org/adoption-application

Story
Lily Black is a long-haired beauty who came to us after her owner passed away. She may be a bit shy at first, but given a few weeks her personality truly blossoms into a sweet, friendly soul. Her foster mom reports that Lily is very well behaved, has excellent litter box manners, and faithfully uses her scratching posts. She enjoys simply being in the same room as her person, soaking up the companionship. Her favorite place is curled up on the couch next to you, happily accepting gentle belly rubs. Some of her most endearing quirks include her soft chirps when greeting you—sometimes even holding a little conversation—as well as her adorable paw taps and headbutts when she’s asking for attention. She has never been around other animals and we believe she would do best as an only animal in a quiet home. Lily Black is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, routinely treated for fleas and worms, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV and heartworm. Her estimated DOB is 8/7/16.
