Story
Mr. Handsome, Friendly, Hipster Laszlo wears a long-haired black and white tuxedo and sports a little soul patch under his chin - he is gorgeous! His name translates to “glorious ruler”, and this fine kitty will definitely rule your heart. It’s perfectly okay with him if you scoop him up and snuggle him! He especially loves it when you scratch his cheeks and chin. At the shelter, Laszlo has shown that he seems to love all cats, cuddling, sleeping, and goofing around with his roommates. He is an equal-opportunity lovebug! Otherwise, he spends his time on patrol looking out the window, finding the good catnip toys to roll around on, and playing with rolly balls. Prior to his arrival at APA!, Laszlo suffered trauma to his tail, which gave him incontinence. He can’t empty his bladder on his own, so he needs his humans to manually express his bladder for him, which means gently pressing on it to help him go pee. It’s easier than it sounds, and APA! will show you how and make sure you are comfortable with it. He also takes some supportive meds, and needs a booty clean-up now and then. Caring for an incontinent cat is easier than you may think. Check out this video, and please consider adopting Laszlo! bit.ly/CatExpressionDemo Laszlo is fun, loving, and a great companion - for you and for another cat! Contact APA! for information on how to care for him, and to ask any questions you have. And to meet this wondrous boy! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. Story
Silly, Social, Simply Stunning! Vampire Slayer is a curious and cuddly special needs kitty who will make your heart melt with her zest for life! She is super affectionate and loves humans and other cats, and her favorite pastime is following her foster parents around the house, waiting until someone stops to love on her. She is a chatty girl and will confidently let you know what she thinks; meow back to her, and she will hold an entire conversation! Vampire Slayer was born with a shortened spine that didn’t develop normally; she doesn’t have a tail and her non-working back legs were surgically removed to improve her ongoing health and mobility. Sounds like a lot, right? But not to VS; that is a very small part of who she is! She scoots happily around on her little rear end and isn’t fazed by anything. She has a huge personality to match her huge eyeballs (look at the photos, she has AMAZING eyes), and cuddling her is kind of like cuddling a living teddy bear - she’s so soft! VS is full of energy and will play with anything that moves! Seriously. She gets the zoomies big time - zoom zoom zoom! - and then naps hard. She gets along well with the cats in her foster home, even the grouchy one. She has met dogs a couple of times, and was very brave and curious; we think she could live just fine with a gentle pup. VS has urinary and fecal incontinence and needs manual expression - which means, gently squeeze her bladder and intestines - a few times a day to help her go potty. Sometimes, she wears a diaper for a couple hours at a time between expressions. Manual expressions are pretty straightforward, and doesn't take much time to care for her; once you get the hang of it, it could take no more than a couple of minutes; APA! will show you how to manually express her and make sure you are comfortable with it. It’s easier than you may imagine! For more information, please contact APA! VS would do best in a home with kitty playmates, people to talk to and share affection with, and who can give her a lot of interaction. Her human(s) should be able to accommodate her potty schedule. That’s it! She’s pretty easygoing! Vampire Slayer is special in all sorts of ways! She is a loving and amazing companion. Contact us today to learn more, and to meet her! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. Look who's here, it's Wise Owl! He's a newcomer to APA! and we can't wait to get to know him. When we do, we'll share all the details with you pronto. Check back soon! Wise Owl has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Wise Owl can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about Wise Owl's care. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Wise Owl, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.

Story
We live in a rural area and Black Kitty showed up about 5 years ago and think he's about 9 y.o. He is, by far, the sweetest cat I've ever known. We didn't want a pet, but he really wanted us so we kept him around. He never wanted to be an inside cat, though. His "home" is definitely our back porch and yard. He will come inside during extreme winter weather, but refuses to use a litter box. He has never once peed or pooped in the house, though. He simply goes into what we call "hibernation mode" and only has to go outside to potty once or twice a day during those times. He's getting older now, as are my husband and me, and he wants to come inside more and more. We don't have (and don't want) a kitty door, so it's becoming a lot for us. We also travel a lot and struggle to find someone to take care of him while we're away. I'd love someone with a big property and a kitty door who would like a sweet indoor/outdoor boy. If no one wants him, we are perfectly happy keeping him.

Story
Billy Bob is a feral cat who has been hanging around our neighborhood for over a year. He is nearly blind and possibly diabetic, as he drinks a lot of water. I am looking a kind person with a soft spot for elderly cats who can give him a soft landing. He was neutered last year, given rabies and feline leukemia vaccine.

Story
Cowboy was found in a garden when he was just a few weeks old. Hell be 4 years old in July. He is a sweet, funny, beautiful cat. Unfortunately, Cowboy has many health issues that I can no longer afford to support. He is on a strict diet of hydrolyzed protein and must take an anti-acid before each meal. This regiment began because we was vomiting twice a day, every day. The diet and medicine, helps a bit, but he still vomits about once as day. Without this regiment the vomiting will kick up to 3-4 times a day + diarrhea. He is also dealing with skin issues. He scratches and wounds his skin and then is prone to infection. ve found that as long as he take a medicine called Atopica, his skin stays under control. He is very shy and refuses medicine from a pet sitter, which makes it difficult to leave him for even a weekend. I hope to find him a new home with a larger, more flexible support system and the ability to afford a higher lvl of care. He is wonderful and so loved!
