Story
A beautiful long- haired grey cat like myself should never have to beg. But, maybe a polite request for your attention? You see, I`m here in `the small animal room` at the Shelter, and a lot of folks overlook me. Most days that`s okay because I don`t like a lot of stimuli-- keep the noise down and don`t put me in with a lot of cats. I really like when my volunteer picks me up and holds me. And I`m just fine with getting petted until I`ve had enough--I twitch my tail faster and my volunteer knows to put me down again. Now, that isn`t too difficult is it, Santa ? I just need someone to adopt me who pays attention and would like petting me, maybe in a nice quiet home with a soft couch ???. Remember, whoever my human is will be getting a beautiful cat who will be their cat furever. Thanks for sharing my letter, Santa, because sometimes it`s a little lonely here. Sincerely yours, Miss SuniSuni came to the shelter as a stray in March of 2024•4 years old•Negative for FIV/FeLv•Microchip •Spayed•Not sure about other animals- will coexist with them but would rather not cuddle them??•Would do best in a quiet home Come visit Suni at the shelter during open hours Monday-Friday 12p-5p, Saturday 11a-4p

Story
Esther is 14 years old. I have had her since she was born unfortunately she does not like a lot of changes in the home. We have a lot of people coming in and out of our house and that disturbs her so it makes her uncomfortable and that will make her want to poop or pee in the house. Other than that, she’s the perfect cat. She just needs attention and not a ton of people coming in and out. We never had this issue when we didn’t open our home up as soon as we opened our home up it’s become a problem, looking for a good home for her. She’s a big cat. She’s always been inside. She’s a lover. She likes attention and affection. She’s 16 pounds.

Name: PrinzessBreed:DLH/Maine Coon mixDOB: 6/14/2025Good with kids: YESGood with dogs: YESGood with cats: YESFoster location:  Rockford, IL Adoption fee: $200 a kitten or $350 for a pair of kittens under 2 years of age. Kittens need to hit 2 pounds (usually around 10–12 weeks old) before they can be spayed or neutered. We try to schedule their surgeries as close to that mark as possible, but of course it depends on the vet’s availability. This all has to happen before they’re ready for adoption—so once they’re fixed, they’ll be on their way to their forever homes! Fun Bio: If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.   We always recommend playtime, positive reinforcement training and a regular schedule for feeding times when bringing a new cat/kitten into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time! Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing (done at 26 weeks), deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip. Anti-Declawing Policy: All cats and kittens will have a no declaw policy in their adoption contract with us! Declawing is a series of bone amputations.  Declawing is more accurately described by the term de-knuckling and is not merely the removal of the claws, as the term “declawing” implies.  In humans, fingernails grow from the skin, but in animals that hunt prey, the claws grow from the bone; therefore, the last bone is amputated so the claw cannot re-grow.  Declawing is one of the most painful, routinely performed procedures in all of veterinary medicine.  Each toe of the cat is amputated at the first joint.  Declawing a cat is equivalent in a person to amputating the entire first knuckle of every finger.  Declawing is done strictly for the benefit of the owner.  There are NO benefits to the cat and NO good reasons to declaw. Declawing can lead to behavior changes.  A declawed cat has no way to defend itself and may resort to biting more often.  Due to pain, they may stop using the litter box.  There are humane alternatives to declawing.  Cats can be trained to use scratching posts.  They should have their nails trimmed regularly.  There is double sided sticky tape that can be put on furniture to deter a cat from scratching there.  There are also nail caps called Soft Paws that are glued onto a cat's nail without harm.   ##2493326##

Story
This sweet boy was abandoned near our home. He is not microchipped and no one claimed him following report to local shelters. Our vet examined, neutered, and administered his shots. He is a very sweet, docile boy but we have three other adult cats and two of those refuse to tolerate him. We are hoping to rehome him. We live in Rockford but are often in Janesville and Madison, WI if it would be helpful for us to coordinate drop off closer to new home.

Story
Turbo     (White and Gray) Birthday: 3/15/15 Sex: Neutered Male  Breed: Domestic Longhair Fee: $150. Our cats come vet checked, spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and negative for FIV/FELV! Traits: Good with adults and older respectful kids 13+, May tolerate another calm cat with slow, proper introductions, but likely happiest as the only pet Current Diet: Tiki Cat Tiki Cat Senior Puree and Tiki Cat Digestion Mousse 2x a day in a silicone slow feeder. Kibble and free feeding is not recommended. About Me : Turbo was taken in by a local animal hospital after he was found as a stray. The animal hospital tried to find him a home but after a period of no luck in finding him a home, they reached out and asked if we could take him in. Turbo was scared at first, but quickly warmed up to people once he felt safe. Turbo takes time to adjust to new environments but once he is comfortable he is very sweet! He loves to be pet, brushed and cuddled on his terms of course. Turbo is a big cat, we do not know his genetics, but he is larger than most average house cats. He previously lived in a foster home with other cats, dogs, and children. While he tolerated the environment, he would sometimes get nippy or upset when overwhelmed. Because of this, we believe he will thrive in a quiet, low-stress home without kids. A home where he can truly relax and feel secure.  January 19, 2026, 8:49 pm

Story
Hi! I'm Fern! I am the fluffiest fluffy butt you might ever meet. I am like a tiny little house lion, but with a floofy collar instead of a mane. My favorite hobbies include being a secret ninja, playing hide and seek (but without the seek), sleeping in random locations, and getting my steps in. I came from a hoarding house and am still unsure of attention from people. If I run away from you, please don't be offended. It's the ninja side of me—I need to stay stealthy! And it doesn't mean I don't want a home of my own. I want a home where I feel safe and can find new locations for napping and ninja stuff! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Included in our adoption fee, all of our kitties are vaccinated, FELV / FIV tested, dewormed, microchipped, spayed / neutered, and checked out by a veterinarian.
