Story
A loving and playful male cat, lived indoor and well trained in using litter box. He loves to play with water in the shower and with tennis balls. Loves to be petted and very affectionate. Heart-breaking to give him away due to a rare health issue with the owner's spouse. Love to see him once in a while in the new home if the owners are agreeable. Story
JazzyYou`ve probably heard of cats that don`t warm up quickly and tend to run away when frightened. Well, double or triple those characteristics, and you will have me pegged! My owners adopted me as a kitten from another shelter, and I have lived with my family all my life. I am 2.5-years-old now. Last February, we moved to a new house, which was terrifying for me. The two young children and the two dogs in the home were always a source of fear, and whenever they came near me, I would run and hide. I knew the family meant well when they bought two self-cleaning, robotic litterboxes in addition to the traditional one, but I was petrified by their noise and movement. You get the picture! When a cat is fearful, stressed, and anxious, she often avoids the litterbox as a last-ditch effort to express herself. Therefore, I was surrendered to the HSHC on October 14.I was alarmed by all the new people, noises, and expectations. I used the litterbox just fine but tended to hide in my cubby rather than come out and socialize. For this reason, I was sent to live with a foster mom to give me a chance to relax and be in a home environment. She reports that I am doing better but still shy and easily scared. I hide a lot, but I sometimes play with house cats on the other side of the gate. I remain in my own space but am very loving, craving being petted, and I am a skilled biscuit-maker. My ideal home would be calm and quiet, offering a predictable routine, the kids would all be 12 or older, and I would be given a small space with everything I need as a place I could escape to. I loved the cat that lived with me in my first home, so if you have a friendly kitty, that might be just the companion I need to feel safe and comfortable. 1-7-25

If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.  Meet Janey Lane – The Fluffy Fetch Champion!   Janey Lane is a stunning, fluffy feline with a playful and affectionate personality. She has a unique talent—she loves to play fetch! When she’s not chasing after her favorite toys, she’s zooming around with her foster sister in an exciting game of chase.   But Janey isn’t all action—she’s also a cuddle enthusiast. After a fun-filled day, she enjoys curling up for snuggles. She’s an avid birdwatcher, often found perched on her cat tower, keeping a keen eye on the world outside. Always curious, Janey loves exploring new spaces and discovering cozy spots to lounge.   Janey is looking for a loving home with a playful feline companion who will keep up with her adventurous spirit and playful energy. She does have skin allergies and requires year-round flea treatment, as well as regular hairball management to keep her feeling her best.   If you're searching for a fun, affectionate, and curious companion, Janey Lane is ready to bring joy into your home! Hi, I’m Turbo!I may be 12, but don’t let that fool you, I’ve still got plenty of playful energy and a whole lot of love to give. I’ve been with my best friend Maddox since we were young, and we do everything together. We groom each other, nap in the same bed, and keep each other company through it all. We’re a package deal, and honestly, that just means double the love.Strangers? Well… I can be a bit of a scaredy cat at first. Maddox and I both like to take our time getting comfortable. But once we’ve had a chance to settle in, we’ll be right by your side looking for pets and attention. We just need someone who understands that love like ours is worth the wait. Once I know you...I’m a big fan of affection, I’ll head butt you, rub all over you, and even give you little love nibbles (don’t worry, I’m always gentle). I like being held too, though I’ll let you know when I’m ready to wiggle free.If you’ve got a cozy home and a soft spot for sweet, bonded boys like us, we’re ready when you are.

Story
I was being given away on facebook. I had been a stray in a neighborhood. I went into the house but she didn't want to keep me. I was part of a group that when this rescue took two kittens, they got me too. I was really afraid at first, but now I realize how wonderful people are. I have a fantastic purr. I just needed some time to get to know people and feel comfortable. I do love catnip toys and things that rattle. I would also really enjoy a fishing pole toy. If you would like to adopt me, here is a link to apply https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POMH-A-5667

Kitty Boy is a 7 year old sweet boy. He is used to being an only pet in a quiet home with elderly caregiver. Unfortunately, his mom can no longer care for him due to her health and he needs a new home. He would love a quiet home with a warm lap and loving pets!

Story
Please do not send inquiries. These cats can be visited at PetSmart in Carmel/Westfield (14720 US 31N) during store business hours. Applications are available at the store. Rosetta and Clark have a long history with me. I originally got them as kittens from different feral colonies. We put them together when they were about 4-5 months old and they bonded from that point. They spent years with me and were finally adopted by an older couple with an empty house. Unfortunately, the couple divorced, the wife left, the husband lost his job and had to sell the house. Per our contract, the cats came back to us at the husband's request. Clark and Rosetta are now 11+ year old seniors. They could probably use a teeth cleaning sooner rather than later. Rosetta came from a colony in Speedway. Her mother and a brother stayed at the colony (feral), two siblings were adopted. She does love human attention once she trusts you, but will always hiss at you. She just never learned that hissing is only a warning; she thinks it's just a common way to say hi. Clark came from a colony in Indianapolis. His mother was a Siamese, but he is a beautiful black male. He also had a Siamese brother. His brother and mother were adopted to their own forever homes, but Clark is black and shy and was constantly overlooked. We paired him with Rosetta and they became the best of friends. Bonded pairs are even more difficult to adopt. WE WILL ONLY ADOPT THEM AS A BONDED PAIR. We recommend no dogs and no small children. They would do best in a very calm forever home where they never have to move ever again. They do not adjust well to change. Rosetta & Clark are approximately 11+ years old, spayed/neutered, updated vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Adoption fee = $80 total for the pair

Story
Emerson was found right around Christmas at our back door. He was brought into our home with love and joy. He has been given all his vaccines and has no known health issues. His estimated age is 9-12 months old. Sadly due to a newborn, we are unable to give him all the attention he needs. Great cat, loves to play and cuddle. Please let us know if you have any questions. We want him to go to a good home. No fee.
