Story
Charm was living outside and came to Heartland very scared and stressed.  Her mouth was in very bad decay so she was also in pain.  Charm was seen by our vet who did a full mouth extraction, relieving her pain and allowing her to focus on the perks of being an indoor kitty. Charm took a couple of months to warm up to her foster mom, but once trust was gained, her sweet and loving personality came through.  She now loves attention and can eat food just fine. Charm is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV, has been flea and parasite treated and is current on vaccinations.  She did test positive for FIV.  FIV kitties can live a normal, long life as long as they are kept indoors and given medical treatment if early signs of illness are shown.  Their immune system is not as strong so illness needs to be treated early.  FIV kitties can live with non-FIV kitties just fine as long as they are not aggressive, as FIV can be transmitted through a deep bite that draws blood.  FIV kitties do not require any daily meds or special food. Charm can eat normal cat food and is especially drawn to wet food.  She doesn't seem to mind cat friendly dogs.  HHS12989LH    April 6, 2024, 10:48 am

Story
Meet Hollister - this handsome fella was adopted from us as a kitten and recently returned because his mom lost her home.  Hollister has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), or wobbly kitten syndrome.  CH is condition where a kitten’s brain does not fully develop due to a viral infection in the mother cat.  As a result, they experience wobbliness and uncoordinated movement.  There is no cure, but it doesn't not affect their overall health and they can still live long, happy lives without issue.  Hollister is moderately CH; he does fall occasionally and is pretty wobbly, but gets around just fine and uses the litter box without problem.   Hollister is a very sweet boy but is on the sensitive side and can become easily overwhelmed by too much activity around him, likely because of his balance issues.  He would do best in a quieter home without children.  He lives with other cats and does fine with them for the most part, but he can be easily intimidated so a calm, gentle and mellow kitty friend would be best.  Not sure about dogs.  Hollister loves to be petted and is quite affectionate.  He enjoys playing with toys but canned food is his favorite thing in the world.  He is neutered, chipped, current on vaccinations, negative for FeLV/FIV and recently had a dental with 6 teeth pulled.  DOB 4/1/15 - tag 9902. April 6, 2024, 10:48 am

Story
I took my cat in when he was given up on facebook, so I have had him since he was a kitten. He has always been a little wild but shows his sweet side from time to time. He is 6 years old and pretty calm, loves to be outside on a porch where he is unbothered.

Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy is a 10.5 year old black medium haired cat. She enjoys being center of attention and loves cuddles. She tolerates young children and other animals. She loves cat grass and tuna. She enjoys being around people and has a bad case of FOMO (fear of missing out). Lucy had a bladder stone in April 2020, which was believed to have been caused by stress. After changing her diet for a bit it went away and we have not seen any problems with it since. Lucy is spayed and up to date on her shots. Lucy’s brother Leo is also up for adoption. While they do not have to stay together, if you are looking for a beautiful duo, look no further! Apply today to meet Lucy in her foster home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 17, 2024, 11:15 am
