Story
This is Jumbo Jack (7 yrs). He is a diabetic that was NOT doing well at the shelter. He was in a feral box and it was nearly impossible to give him meds. So we decided to take on a new challenge.Jack has been with us for 2 weeks and we have made WAY more progress than we ever thought he would in a short amount of time. He still hisses and stays hidden in one particular spot in the room when we walk in. But with a slow calm approach, we have learned that the quickest way to his heart is with a brush.Today, I managed to push him a bit out of his comfort zone by turning the cat tree around to face the door so that he could see us when we walked in the room. While he is super uncomfortable with the slight adjustment, he did warm up quickly with some calm patience and showed us a bit more of his sweet loving side by flopping over and showing his belly for pets. While we are still a ways away from him being a more confident and grounded boy, we are so incredibly proud of him for opening up and trusting us as much as he has so far.

Story
Meet Meowidith Grey! 🩺🐾Paging Dr. Adorable! Meowidith Grey is a one-year-old medical meowracle and proud mama of the Grey’s Anatomy litter (plus one surprise intern who snuck in for snuggles). She was found by one of our amazing volunteers—skinny, alone, and still fiercely taking care of her tiny patients… we mean, kittens. Classic Meowidith: putting others first even on an empty stomach. With her elegant white and gray fur and soulful eyes that have seen things, Meowidith has the air of a cat who’s been through a whole dramatic season arc—but still purrs through it all. She’s got short-to-medium fluff and an emotionally complex meow. She’s been caught monologuing dramatically into her food dish, probably about life, love, and snack time. Now that her little ones are growing up and preparing to scrub in on their own adventures, Meowidith is ready for her own happy ending. She’s currently available for pre-adoption while she wraps up her mama duties. Is your home ready for a little drama, a lot of purring, and a whole season’s worth of cuddles? Adopt Meowidith Grey—stat!

Story
Charm was living outside and came to Heartland very scared and stressed.  Her mouth was in very bad decay so she was also in pain.  Charm was seen by our vet who did a full mouth extraction, relieving her pain and allowing her to focus on the perks of being an indoor kitty. Charm took a couple of months to warm up to her foster mom, but once trust was gained, her sweet and loving personality came through.  She now loves attention and can eat food just fine. Charm is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV, has been flea and parasite treated and is current on vaccinations.  She did test positive for FIV.  FIV kitties can live a normal, long life as long as they are kept indoors and given medical treatment if early signs of illness are shown.  Their immune system is not as strong so illness needs to be treated early.  FIV kitties can live with non-FIV kitties just fine as long as they are not aggressive, as FIV can be transmitted through a deep bite that draws blood.  FIV kitties do not require any daily meds or special food. Charm can eat normal cat food and is especially drawn to wet food.  She doesn't seem to mind cat friendly dogs.  HHS12989LH    November 5, 2024, 10:31 am

Story
Rusty had rough beginnings. Our daughter found him in the park close to our house in a tall cardboard box he couldn’t get out of on a hot summer day. He was just weeks old. He is a very lovable, extremely playful, energetic, loves attention, likes to go outside, doesn’t mind water, likes to talk and talk back, and thinks everyone and every animal is his friend. He loves soft fluffy blankets and cuddles. We would love for Rusty to get a home where he is loved, played with and cared for. Our daughter is very allergic to cats and her allergy shots aren’t helping too much. He deserves the best.
