Story
Emerald and her siblings were sent to Viva Los Gatos in November from an overcrowded Kentucky shelter that was trying not to have to euthanize them. The kittens were a mess - they had multiple treatable illnesses and were covered in lice eggs. Several months of treatment later, they are now healthy, happy, and ready for forever homes.
Emerald is a sweet, friendly, brave and mischievous kitten whose two loves are bothering anybody holding food and finding interesting small objects to throw off of shelves and tables. She is independent without being aloof - she can entertain herself perfectly well, but you might not like how she does it. She needs lots of attention and/or a kitty companion to keep her occupied. She will let you hold her for a while, but she is too active to remain there for long. However, she has been known to get right in bed with her foster family and tuck herself under a human's arm to sleep.
Emerald is the only Maine Coon mix in her litter - as you may know, a litter of kittens can have multiple fathers. She has the classic strong Maine Coon features, and looked like a fluffy pom-pom as a small kitten, but has become sleeker as she grows. She will probably remain a medium-hair as an adult. She has beautiful sweeps and strokes of orange in addition to her brown tabby markings. She is probably the least talkative of the kittens, preferring to remain silent most of the time and only meow very occasionally when she wants a door opened.
Emerald likes the other cats in her foster home and has a friendly relationship with the family dog. She has not met any children, but is young and resilient, and would probably do well with respectful kids.
Emerald was born around the beginning of October 2023. She is spayed, up-to-date on shots, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Please consider adopting her with one of her siblings - Berry, Cleo, and Cinnamon - so she has a playmate to match her active kitten energy.
