Story
Jadoe (rhymes with "Shadow") isn't just a handsome face: he's confident, playful, and friendly as can be!Jadoe would happily hang out with people almost 24/7. He loves to chill together, play together, and get pets during the day and curling up to sleep at someone's feet at night. He also loves to talk, and he'll never hesitate to let you know when it's time for food or fun! When people aren't around, fellow animals are pretty good too: although he does try to steal his fellow felines' food and will occasionally insist on being the only cat on the bed, he can frequently be found lounging near his foster siblings while waiting for his humans to finish work.Jadoe is very agreeable, and his foster family thinks he'd likely be good with animal-loving kids, cat-friendly dogs... he even warms up to guests fairly quickly! Although he doesn't like to be picked up, he'll happily take kisses, scritches, and pets forward, backward and side to side. He just loves the attention!Don't think it's all about him, though: when Jadoe hears that a person or pet sounds hurt or upset, he often runs in the room to ask what's wrong. Everyone feels loved when Jadoe is around!Jadoe spent his first few years as a colony cat, but he's not much of a fighter. He is quite patient and tolerant even during things he dislikes, such as being brushed, being kept away from the other cats' food, or spending time home alone. Jadoe needs a home with a big, friendly family who'll love to play, sit, and sleep together with him. You'd never know it from his happy demeanour, but Jadoe has mild irritable bowel disease (IBD). It is well-controlled with his current diet, and his forever family must be able to commit to prescription veterinary food, daily probiotics, and regular exercise. His thick fur also requires regular brushing with the furminator. With the right food and care, cats with IBD can live very long and healthy lives-and a loving companion like Jadoe is totally worth the effort!Like all ACR cats, Jadoe has been treated for fleas and parasites. Jadoe is negative for FIV and FeLV.

Story
Meet Lemur, the charming feline with enchanting round eyes and an adorable face reminiscent of a lemur monkey! This sweet and affectionate boy has transitioned from a semi-feral outdoor life to embracing the joys of indoor living. Now, he's on the lookout for a loving human and a forever home to call his own.Lemur is not your ordinary cat - he's a delightful character with a playful spirit. Witness him chasing his own tail, executing playful somersaults, and displaying his affection by drooling a bit when being petted. Always ready for attention, Lemur eagerly joins you on the couch or bed for endless petting sessions - the ideal companion for cozy TV-watching evenings!Despite his love for interaction, Lemur is not high-maintenance or clingy. He entertains himself with playful gallops down the hallway, acrobatics on cat trees, and indulging in his favorite Yeowww catnip toys. This older gentleman has plenty of energy and is seeking an active playmate to share in the fun - he's excellent with other cats. Additionally, his litterbox habits are impeccable.Lemur does have early-stage kidney disease, a common occurrence in aging cats. However, it's easily managed with a special diet, which he adores, and twice-weekly sub-Q injections. He handles these injections well, especially when accompanied by plenty of pets and treats.Having spent his early days on the streets, Lemur can be a bit shy around strangers and may require an adjustment period in a new environment. In the past few months, Lemur has been gaining confidence around unfamiliar faces, even approaching seated guests to request pets. Once you gain his trust, Lemur promises to keep you thoroughly entertained with his endearing quirks. He's patiently waiting for his retirement home, where he can bask in the undivided attention of his very own human. One charming habit he's developed is standing on his hind legs and popping his head up over the chair arm or bed's side before joining you. His funny face peeking up is sure to bring a smile to your face as he settles in for pets and a cozy nap beside his favorite humans. Lemur is ready to bring joy and companionship to a lucky individual or family - could that be you?!Lemur would do well as a buddy to a friendly, playful resident cat, but he could do well as the solo cat in the home provided he gets all the attention and cuddles he wants :)Lemur had a dental cleaning in June 2023. Due to his early renal disease, Lemur requires bloodwork every 6 months and is next due in January 2024. Like all ACR cats, Lemur has been treated for fleas and parasites. Lemur is negative for FIV and FeLV.Check out videos of Lemur playing and cuddling by following these links:https://vimeo.com/863395004?share=copyhttps://vimeo.com/863395014?share=copyhttps://vimeo.com/908897299?share=copyhttps://vimeo.com/908897444?share=copy

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mowgli is a smart, calm, older gentleman who perks up for all forms of catnip, Churu treats and beams of sunshine. Next to regular meals, his favourite activity is looking out of a cracked window and sniffing the air. After 7-8 years outside, he has fully settled into indoor life and is wonderful company, snoozing during the day and emerging in the evening to spend it close by. He has excellent manners with perfect litter box and scratching pad use, and because he waits patiently for breakfast, he will never wake you up. He prefers self-play and does not associate playtime with his human family. In his years outside, he lost his ears to frostbite, and due to mistreatment from humans, he is wary and will not accept touch. He communicates his displeasure with a short hiss and removes himself. He will thrive in a quiet house without dogs or children. He is also submissive, so he will be best as an only cat or with gentle cats that will not dominate or bully him. Mowgli needs an experienced and patient adopter who understands his needs and boundaries. Mowgli prefers his own routine and requires a lot of patience when disrupting his routine (such as going to the vet).Mowgli is FIV positive and feline leukemia negative. He has had all his teeth removed and requires a senior diet (dry food is fine!). Mowgli needs regular senior bloodwork and is due for his next test in August 2024. Like all ACR cats, he has been treated for fleas and parasites.Cats with FIV can live a long and happy life. You can read more about FIV on our website here: https://annexcatrescue.ca/the-happy-truth-about-fiv-cats/

Story
This lovely lady was rescued from a colony along with a few of her friends. She is a friendly and sweet lap cat who enjoys snuggles and a good brushing. If you're looking for an affectionate cuddlebug, this is the BFF for you! It MUST be understood that Furbie is very shy towards new people, so any adoption applicant will need to be patient and willing to let her get comfortable at her own pace. We strongly recommend introducing her first to a small area of the home without hiding spots (e.g., a spare room, a washroom) to avoid overwhelming her and to maximize your interactions with her for building rapport. Once she trusts a person, she becomes a complete lap lump and snuggle baby.

Not good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Microchipped, DOB October 17, 2015 Mitch likes to sleep on cushions, old jackets, and clothing. He is a very observant cat and will sometimes just watch both humans and cats with such intensity and curiosity, as though he is a scientist studying them. Mitch is a very cautious cat. He requires some time in his new home before his trust in his human friends will develop. It took his foster parent nearly 6 weeks to get Mitch to trust them enough to pet him gently by his ears. He is best suited for environments that are not stressful - meaning no dogs (cats are ok) and no being chased by young children. He is also not a very adventurous cat and needs to be in a relaxed environment where he can have the freedom to become comfortable at his own pace. He would also be suitable for a working couple or single person as he is not very demanding of his humans' time. He prefers sitting and watching TV and looking out the window, but he will also have his bursts of energy and moments of playfulness. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200. Mitch has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. They don't require medication and can live in a home with other non-FIV+ cats, as the virus is only passed to other cats by blood (i.e. deep bite marks) and can't be passed to dogs or humans. Please don't judge them based on a blood test!

Story
LOCATED IN CAMBRIDGE, ON at PetSmart Cambridge DOB 13 March 2022 DMH/DLH brown tabby with white -FIV/FELUK NEGATIVE Hey there, I'm Oscar, your potential new best bud! 🐾 I'm a handsome mix of affection and independence, ready to charm my way into your heart. I'm a friendly guy who likes to work the room and map it out for good spots to call dibs on. You'll catch me wandering around, checking the smells and feels of things, and rubbing against your legs to share some love along the way. (A gentleman always says "Hello," right?) When I've finished exploring and surveying my kingdom, I'm content hanging out with my humans or in a comfy cat hammock or kitty condo. I like to chat too (nicely, I think). Sometimes I'm saying, "OMG, it's great to see you!" or sometimes I'm asking for something. But don't worry, I'm not an overly clingy type. I do like seeing what you're up to, or coming over to ask for petting, but I've got kitty stuff to enjoy too and am more of an independent young guy at the moment. With my floof, a lot of people want to hug me. I do love to roll around and nudge you for some loving head scratches! The rescue humans are super nice and they pet me like that, but I have not warmed up to laps and hugging since being at the rescue. I do like to be petted though! So, I might even lay my legs across your leg on a couch... Maybe the rest will come with time? I do ask for affection, and I do show affection too, but I also try to let you know what I want and when. So, until we get to know each other more, I'd like to choose the pace and place. Hope you're ok with me figuring that out? Also, until I figure it out, I'm not sure around people who maybe aren't as in-tune with reading my kitty cues, so maybe not a comfy fit around young children. Either way, the humans think I'm quite a magical kitty to be around! No, really, they do. It's funny how humans (who have almost no fur) seem so awe-struck by kitties with lots of it.😊 It's cool though, and I'm not letting it swell my ego 😊 I'm still a curious young cat who lands on the same four paws no matter how high the pedestal is! So, if you're searching for a companion who sometimes wants petting, sometimes wants "me time" to play, explore, think deep thoughts, or dream about cat things... a companion who also happens to turn a few aheads, then I could be your guy! 🐱 NOTE re Oscars shave: Oscar had matted fur and some minor wounds when rescued so needed to be shaved. His fur is growing back in, and will be wonderfully soft and plush like the fur around his mane/head. Until it does, he is still stunning and he just snuggles into his blankets a bit more - it's adorable! His adopter will need to please help him maintain his coat with daily/frequent brushing etc. To inquire about adopting Oscar, please contact *KW Chapter* of Toronto Cat Rescue at 519-266-3557 or kwadopt@torontocatrescue.ca

Story
Microchipped, DOB March 11, 2015 Kenny is such a sweet boy, and he has lots of love to offer his humans; when he is happy he likes to clean them and sleep beside them. He makes the cutest purring sounds and meows. He is not very active due to his age, but he still has very bright, big eyes and a sweet personality. He is generally always happy, but he does not like to be touched a lot; he will come to you when he does want affection. If brushed too often, he will get upset and may not stay in the same room as you for few hours, but he will come back and give you another chance to get back on his good side. He's a bit of a prince, you just need to be patient with him and give him lots of personal space. He has early kidney disease and is on a prescription kidney care k/d diet. He drinks a lot of water and eats his kibble well but he will eat few kibbles at a time and then come back later to eat more. Within short span of time, Kenny has become his foster family's favourite, including that of the resident dog (as long as the dog does not get too much into Kenny's face, they are good, but if he gets too clingy, Kenny will hiss him away and establish boundaries). His foster parent says that Kenny is the sweetest boy they have ever met and that anyone would be lucky to have him! Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200.

Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Microchipped, DOB: Feb 20, 2020 Given how big Mack is, it’s surprising that he’s a very shy and timid cat. Over his time in foster care, Mack has started coming out of his shell to be sweet and playful. He enjoys being brushed and likes to be pet once you’ve earned his trust. Mack isn’t a fan of being picked up and prefers a quiet environment where he can relax. If he’s happy to see you, Mack will purr away and roll on his back. When rolling on his back and showing his belly, Mack will use his front feet to pull your hand towards his head to pet him! He’ll also put his entire face into your face and rub his cheeks on your hands. Mack is still working on trusting people and needs a lot of patience. He would do best in a quiet environment with an experienced cat owner who can help him with his confidence. Mack still spends a lot of time hiding and will probably need some time to decompress before starting to be comfortable with a new home.

Story
LOCATED IN CAMBRIDGE, ON at PetSmart Cambridge DOB: 12 April 2017 Microchipped Oreo is a sweet, friendly, confident, youthful boy who loves exploring, loves people, and likes a nice chat. This beautiful, loving boy is a bit of an explorer. He loves climbing and sniffing everything out. He scales cat trees to reach high shelves, and even gets up on his back legs like a meerkat to sniff the ceiling once he's up there 😂 He wants to map and approve every inch of a space, revisiting his favourite spots along the way. Once he's finished his adventure, it's time for rewards! Oreo's favourite rewards are wet food and sharing loving with his humans. He's very loving, and shows it by coming to greet you and saying "Glad you're here!" with a heab-dump and some cute meows. He also says "love you" by circling around your legs, or brushing against you while you're doing things. While he seems to prefer to be pet beside you or in a spot he chooses (vs being "held"), he loves his humans and enjoys being pet pretty much any place on his body - belly, head, chin... He even rolls around at your feet and sleeps upside down sometimes to show his belly ...a soft and floofy belly... a belly recently filled with wet food too, if he gets his wish. (So if you're wondering how you could get him off a high shelf, this is one way - wet food!) Oreo will thrive with a family who appreciates when he wants to hog the couch beside you versus when he wants to explore... who adores how he asks for love by coming to you or with his cute meow... how he is curious and revels in adventure so focusses on that sometimes instead of wanting for belly rubs. (He'll catch up with rubs after, don't worry!) Oreo also has a soft, medium to long hair coat which his new family will want to help him maintain through regular brushings - a wonderful way to bond with him! In many ways, Oreo is "dog-like" - sniffing out what's around, devouring canned food, greeting you, valueing a close bond with his humans, but also valueing his own desire to explore. Either way you phrase it, Oreo is more than a cat - he is a loyal bestie and a magnificent lifelong companion! To inquire about adopting Oreo, please contact *KW Chapter* of Toronto Cat Rescue at 519-266-3557 or kwadopt@torontocatrescue.ca

Story
***AT SHELTER***You won't be spooked by Spooky! The illness of her loving family member has made it necessary for Spooky to seek a new living arrangement. She is presently calling EHS home while waiting to meet the people with whom she can spend the rest of her life.Spooky is understandably frazzled given the sudden turn of events, and is taking time to decompress in her new surroundings. As the saying goes, her "bark" is worse than her bite. When approached slowly and comfortable in your presence, Spooky will sometimes accept pets, preferring a gentle touch with the wand. One step at a time, Spooky. Things will get better! Tube treats might well be one way to her heart as not only did she enjoy the treat directly from the tube, but she also chose to make sure our dedicated volunteer's hand was clean by licking off all residue of this delicacy. Spooky will likely do best in a calm setting where she can, once again, be a cherished family member. It is best that dogs not be in her future, but she does seem to enjoy the company of other feline-friendly cats!  Spooky is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. She is currently enrolled in EHS's socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people. There have been many successful graduates from this program, but potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Spooky along this journey. It should be noted that while some skittish cats might remain reserved, others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Spooky with a successful transition to her forever home. Will you be the one to help Spooky find love once again? Why not come out to meet her? You both might hit the jackpot!  --------------------The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home an adult feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200...or, double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! If you mix and match (kitten plus cat), the adoption fee is $300. Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.--------------------Interested in adopting Spooky? It's easy! Just click "Adopt a Cat" on the EHS website (etobicokehumanesociety.com) and fill out our "Cat Adoption Form."  An EHS representative will be pleased to help.
