Story
This sweet girl is "Cleo", lovingly named by her rescuer who helps the cats/kittens at the Cuale River. Just a baby herself, Cleo was abandoned, pregnant and extremely malnourished. She lost her babies but was taken into a loving foster home, where it was clear that she had belonged to a family or other home at some point. Her health and nutrition was improved and now she's ready for her furever home. She's already spayed, good with dogs and other cats.

Story
*** Ruffles is in a foster home ***Gray & white tuxedo, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 6/1/21, #16869Cats: loves--feline friend required!Dogs: preference for calm medium-sized caninesChildren: adults onlyDiscovered during a TNR program by volunteers with an organization dedicated to reducing the homeless cat population, Ruffles enchanted staff at the spay/neuter clinic. After engaging with him, they quickly determined that this scruffy street kitty actually was a very friendly housecat in disguise! They reached out to The Rescue House, and we transferred him into a foster home. There, he grew up into the most delightful little gentleman, and unsurprisingly, he was quickly adopted. Unfortunately, that home was not the right fit for Ruffles, and within a month, he returned to our care. All of the change in such a short period of time devastated Ruffles, and overwhelmed with sadness, he retreated into himself for a while. Finally ready to look for love again, Ruffles knows his special people are out there, and he is prepared to do whatever it takes to find them! If you look up the word "sweet" in the dictionary, we guarantee you will find a picture of Ruffles! Be prepared for him to play it coy at first, though, as he is a sensitive boy and likely to be very reserved when he makes your acquaintance. It will take time for you to get to know him, and you will not build a bond with Ruffles overnight. He will require you to prove to him your commitment and sincerity with patience and understanding... after all, he has to protect his heart-he doesn't deserve for it to be broken again. For the first few weeks, Ruffles may prefer to focus on getting comfortable and self-soothing rather than engaging with you. During this period, Ruffles might choose to spend his days hunkered down in a small place where he feels safe or a comfy hidey-hole. This does not mean he does not value you or your presence-he just is an introspective kitty that processes his stuff internally and requires space to work things out for himself. Talking softly to him and not pushing him too hard will help him to understand you accept him for who he is and will be waiting with an open lap for when he is ready to emerge from his shell. In addition, letting him settle in at his own pace and showing him compassion will earn his trust, and he eventually will begin to realize you are his forever human! A wonderful way to help your relationship with Ruffles grow and develop is through interactive play. He LOVES to play! If you entice him into a rousing session with a wand toy, though, he will be ever so grateful-wands are his absolute favorite! In his book, spiral toys come in a close second, so he requests a handful of those in his toybox at his new home, too. He also adores other kitties, and he likes to engage his feline friends in tame games of soccer or chase. Basically, Ruffles is a gentle soul looking for some kind humans and a hospitable resident kitty to welcome him into their family. He has so much love to give, and he is just waiting for the right people to share it! Ruffles does well with multiple cats, and he must have a welcoming kitty companion in his forever home. A feline friend will help him feel more confident-plus, life is always better with a sidekick! While he was okay with the senior Terrier in his foster home, he did not appreciate the Chihuahuas or the large visiting canine. Ruffles abhors noise and chaos; he will need a quiet adults-only home for him to truly be comfortable. This little boy has put on his best tux in pursuit of eternal love! Will you be the lucky one who gets to bring Ruffles home?
