Story
Sam is looking for a new family - We have known Sam since he was a 6 week old kitten who was abandoned underneath our deck along with his 4 siblings. We took them in, got them healthy and they were all adopted out to different family members. Sam went to live with Grandma who lovingly took care of him for almost 10 years before she passed away. Unfortunately, her love of Sam and her confusion in her later years means he never went without a full bowl a food. Sam is a big boy! Sam has been living with us for about the last year and he is a cuddle bug! He loves cuddling up on the couch, sleeping at my feet in bed and getting head scratches from the kids. We need find a new place for Sam to be loved because not only are all of us (2 adults, 2 kids) various levels of allergic to cats, but we have also relocated from a house into a smaller apartment and Sam does not seem like he is as happy as he once was with sharing his space with everyone all the time.

Story
MEET LEONHARD! This spunky guy was approximately 6 weeks old when he entered Kitty Devore foster care in June of 2024. Leonhard instantly stood out as the loudest member of his family, singing the song of his people the entire car ride home from the shelter. He had a lot of questions and concerns that he wanted to share with management, most of which involved food. (Even with a severe kitten cold, his appetite never waned.) He has a fearless approach to life that is most evident in his tussles with the robot vacuum. Only the bravest of cats is willing to face such a foe. But Leonhard also has a soft side that shows when he asks to be picked up and cuddled, falls asleep draped over a shoulder on the back of the couch, or snuggles up with his foster brother. He runs to the door when his foster parents get home and greets strangers as if he has known them forever. At the heart of his talkative nature is a desire to be acknowledged and loved. Leonhard’s left eye sometimes gets weepy, and the vet thinks he might breathe loudly from time to time because of his crooked nose, but these things can’t keep a big boss kitty down. He has friends to make, toys to play with, laps to sleep on, and a whole world to explore. Because of his active spirit, Leonhard needs to be in a home with another kitty that can keep him entertained. He would love to be adopted with his foster brother, Harlo, the yin to his yang. Shy kitties may not appreciate Leonhard’s aggressive approach. There are no dogs in his foster home, but he has been introduced to canines and instantly loved them. Are you looking for a furry bestie that will take an interest in all of your activities and have an unwavering dedication to being your miniature shadow? Story
MEET DARLINGTON! Darlington was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024 when he was just a month old, along with his mom, Fontana, and siblings Concord, Sonoma, and Daytona. Too young to remember the shelter, he has grown up entirely in the safety and comfort of his foster home. As a very young kitten, Darlington and his littermates were quite ill, but thanks to attentive care and lots of love, he made a full recovery and is now healthy, active, and thriving. Gentle, affectionate, and playful, Darlington is a sweetheart who adores chin scratches, lap snuggles, and cozy companionship. He’s also a joyful little character who loves collecting crunch balls, zooming through crinkle chutes, and investigating boxes as if they hold great secrets. Darlington is especially bonded to his brother Sonoma, and the two are rarely far apart—playing, lounging, and keeping each other company with an easy, affectionate rhythm that speaks to their deep connection. Darlington would thrive in a calm, loving home that values companionship and is open to welcoming a bonded pair. Ideally, he and Sonoma would be adopted together, as they are the last two kittens from their litter still waiting for a forever home and bring out the very best in one another. If you’re ready to open your heart to Darlington (and hopefully his brother Sonoma too), please visit www.kittydevorerescue.org to submit an adoption application. ** Darlington and Sonoma both reside in a Kitty Devore Rescue foster home in San Marcos, CA.

Story
MEET HARLO! This adorable mini-panther was approximately nine weeks old when he entered Kitty Devore's foster care on July 19, 2024. Someone brought Harlo to Devore Animal Shelter after being found at a structure fire in Fontana. Luckily, he only suffered singed whiskers and fur. When he arrived at his foster home, Harlo was understandably nervous around people. Even though he was scared, he was a perfect gentleman when given a bath on the first day. Signs quickly appeared, indicating that he was becoming more comfortable - his toys would be moved from their original spots, and tiny black paws started appearing under the door of his room when curious kittens were waiting outside. It didn't take long for this little guy to transform into a confident and playful kitten who can keep up with his foster siblings, no problemo! He walks around the house with his tail held high and happily accepts human hands reaching out to pet him randomly. He can't resist turning on the motor when picked up and cuddled. Harlo also enjoys phone screens and watching TV - he'll hop up on the back of the couch to drape himself over a shoulder and join the viewing party. Harlo would love to be adopted with the remaining member of his foster siblings from the Math Cat family - Leonhard. His foster home has no dogs, so his feelings about a canine companion have yet to be determined. Are you looking for a lovable purr machine to brighten your day? Fill out an adoption application at www.kittydevorerescue.org to meet Harlo today!

Story
MEET NARA! This sweet and spicy, tabby girl was rescued from Devore shelter in July of 2018 when she was about 4.5 months old. She has gobs of energy, but not having other kittens to play with when she was really little meant that she didn't quite learn “how to cat”. Nara made great strides in foster care, learning how to be a kitty from all her foster brothers and sisters! She plays very rough, often pinning her foster siblings to the ground during their wrestling matches, and bounding through the house chasing everyone around like a maniac. While she gets along with some of the other playful kitties in her foster home, she can be a little much for some to take and she can be hot and cold with who she chooses to want to play with. For this reason, she may do well with another equally playful kitty who will tolerate her sass, or she might be happy as an only cat as long as her people can give her a lot of outlets and attention to direct her energy to. Nara climbs and likes to be up high. She loves chasing her spring toys, the laser light, and loves to play with the wand toy. When she gets a burst of energy, she gets crazy eyes and will sometimes growl and hiss, but don’t mistake that for aggression- that’s usually her way of communicating that she needs some high energy play time! She also knows exactly what she wants…even if what that is changes from second to second. One minute she’s loving the pets and the play time and the next minute she’ll tell you she’s had quite enough, thank you very much. She can get a little mouthy when she plays, so kids and adults who aren’t cat savvy probably won’t be a good match for her. Once she gets all that spicy energy out though, Nara will happily snuggle on the couch with you and purr while you scratch her chin! Nara can experience stress when she doesn't have her "me time". She does need a more subdued home with adults who are more on the low key side. When Nara is stressed out she can develop urinary blockage and UTI symptoms that require veterinary care. She is currently on a prescription diet for urinary tract health that also addresses the underlying anxiety causes. She would need to continue this diet in her new home. Nara is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. If Nara sounds like the perfect combination of sugar, spice, and everything nice, fill out an application to adopt her today! **Search #ARsNara on Instagram for more photos!**

MEET SONOMA! MEET SONOMA! Sonoma was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024 when he was just a month old, along with his mom, Fontana, and siblings Concord, Darlington, and Daytona. Too young to remember the shelter, he has grown up entirely in the safety and love of his foster home as part of the "NASCAR family." As very young kittens, the entire litter was quite ill, and while Sonoma recovered well overall, he was left with mild nerve damage in his hip area as a result of that early illness. Despite this, Sonoma is a happy, playful, and affectionate boy who enjoys life to the fullest. He loves chin scratches, responds with eager purrs, and is always ready for playtime--especially if it involves crunch balls, crinkle chutes, or cardboard boxes. His mobility and activity level are normal, and the nerve damage does not limit his ability to run, play, or enjoy daily life. He does occasionally experience urinary incontinence, something that is manageable and currently being supported with acupuncture treatments, which have been helping. Sonoma is otherwise a healthy, content, and loving cat. Sonoma is deeply bonded to his brother Darlington, and the two are constant companions--playing together, cuddling, and providing comfort and confidence to one another. Ideally, they would be adopted together into a calm, understanding home that values companionship and is comfortable with Sonoma's minor ongoing care needs. They are the last two kittens from their litter still waiting for a forever home. If you're ready to welcome this devoted pair into your life, please visit www.kittydevorerescue.org to submit an adoption application.
