Story
Hi! My name is Sophia and I am about 4 years young. I was brought into the Pet Pantry with a lot of other cats from an abandoned home. I do have some things going on, her is a medical note from the staff veterinarian:  Sophia came to us from an overcrowded home. She was not well socialized and was not adapting well to caged housing. With her high level of stress, she would pass blood in her urine. She has continued to use her litter box. She has had radiographs, had a bladder ultrasound exam, had a urine culture--all were negative for pathology. She was tried on gabapentin and Z ylkene for anxiety, but would still pass dark urine some days. She was started on fluoxetine about a month ago, and has responded well to it and is doing better behaviorally interacting with people. We feel she still has a stressful evening now and then and will have a recurrence of bloody urine.  Sophia needs a quiet stress free home with patient caretakers. She has been eating a urinary diet and seems to eat it well. She likes slow approaches and will now enjoys being brushed and petted. She is quite curious and will come down to meet you. To aid her in adjusting to her new environment, we would like to send Sophia home with fluoxetine temporarily. She will eat her medication in canned food (pate) or Churu cat treat. When she seems comfortable and starts exploring, she may be weaned off of her medication. It also may be helpful to offer her litter that monitors blood in her urine by a color change (eg Pretty Litter).   I am spayed, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Applications are available at our location as well as online at petpantrylc.org. From there, our adoption coordinator will be in touch! April 23, 2024, 5:40 pm

Story
Magnolia is not just any senior gal; she's the best senior gal. This sweet girl found herself wandering the streets as a stray, but thanks to the kindness of a good Samaritan, she found her way to us.Despite facing some health challenges, Magnolia has a bright spirit. She's been diagnosed with kidney disease and thyroid issues, but with proper care, she's thriving. Magnolia requires a special prescription diet and daily medications to manage her conditions. However, don't let that deter you because this loving lady is worth every bit of care and attention.Magnolia loves being petted, and her purrs could rival a motorboat. While she may have her medical needs, she's a low-maintenance kitty in many other ways. Magnolia tolerates other cats and reliably uses her litter box like a champ. Now, Magnolia is on the lookout for her forever home-a place where her medical needs will be attended to for the rest of her days. But it's not just about her health; it's about cherishing the moments with this darling girl. She's got an old lady meow that's simply charming, and her biscuit-making skills are top-notch.If you're ready to open your heart and home to Magnolia, you'll be rewarded with a lifetime of love, purrs, and companionship. Come meet Magnolia today and let her show you just how special senior cats can be.--This animal is living in foster care - please email Lancaster@pspca.org if you are interested in setting up a time to meet her!

Story
Hi! My name is Louie and I am about 2 years old. When I came to the Pet Pantry I was missing a lot of hair. I am a sweet boy who is a little shy with being here. Here is a medical note from the veterinarian: Louie arrived with some skin issues which were the result of a combination of fleas, secondary infection, and allergies. He has responded nicely to treating him for fleas, medicating him with an antibiotic, and feeding him a hypoallergenic diet (Hills Prescription Diet ZD).  Signs of allergy in cats include scabs around the neck, lower back, belly, and legs. This can happen from getting bitten by a flea, inhaling an allergen (pollen, dust mite excrement, dander, mold spores, etc) or eating something he is allergic to (beef, milk products, poultry, or fish). We do not know the exact causes of his allergy, but if he would resume showing symptoms, your regular veterinarian or a dermatology specialist can help you find out. Therefore, regular veterinary exams and good monitoring at home are imperative to keep him healthy and comfortable. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Story
Hi! My name is Hoppy and I am about 1 & 1/2 years old. I am a sweet boy who is a little shy with being here. You may notice I am missing my front right leg. Here is a Medical note from the veterinarian: Hoppy came to us not using his right front leg because he could not straighten it. He had suffered severe trauma to this leg which made it unusable. Therefore his right front leg was amputated. He seems to be adjusting to being the new him very well and is healing nicely from surgery. He has no restrictions in his forever home; he should be able to figure out stairs, cat trees, furniture etc just fine. We recommend that he have a litter box available on each floor he has access to, so that he is not forced to use stairs to get to his potty. Hoppy also suffered an injury to his left eye. He has a cloudy spot on his cornea (corneal scar) and it appears that a small area of his iris (colored part of eye) has stuck to the back of his cornea. He seems to be able to see with this eye, and it is not currently causing him discomfort. It is possible that later in life, the eye could become enlarged and painful (glaucoma) or develop a tumor secondary to chronic inflammation. Therefore he should have his eye monitored with pressure checks and retinal exams by your regular veterinarian or a veterinary ophthalmologist I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Story
Let me Bee-Bee your next BFF. My name's BeeBee and I came into the shelter with my friend Shimmer. We both came from an unknown background as w were found left alone in a home for quite some time without care. We're both looking for our next furever homes, either together or apart. While I may seem shy at first, I love nothing more than getting pets, eating treats, and playing in catnip. I also enjoy watcing bird videos and lounging in the sun. I could do okay with a home possibly with other cats and even kiddos, as long as theyre respectful of my unknown background. I may be a tortie but I don't have the classic 'tude. I'm a lovely lately just looking for my next home, a home that wont leave me behind. Please stop by the shelter to meet me and take me home!
