Story
Alfie and his sister, Siri, both have cerebellar hypoplasia. The part of their brain responsible for coordination and many other things, did not form properly before they were born. The vet considers them in the mild to moderate category. They can both walk, eat, and use the litter box, though they sometimes have an accident. Alfie has had several seizures which is not due to the CH, but whatever caused the CH has damaged an area of the brain that is causing seizures. He is on a daily inexpensive medication that is controlling them very well. They both sometimes can go into spasms when startled by something. Now I will tell you about the important things. These 1 year old kitties are precious. They are super sweet and purr the minute you touch them. You could hold them all day long if you wanted to because they love attention. Yes, they wobble, can't climb, and can't do stairs, but they love people and love each other and would make wonderful companions. They must be adopted together. Since they cannot get out of your way, they cannot go to home home with small children or elderly people. They are not afraid of dogs, but could easily be hurt by a dog that likes to play. Their spacial awareness is affected by the CH and they may bump into things, so their adopters must be willing to make modifications to make their new home safe for them. They are staying in my office right now and I can walk away from my computer and leave my coffee on my desk because they cannot climb or jump. They can chew on wires, though, so that is something to be aware of. If you are still reading, then maybe you would be interested in learning more about CH kitties. Please do some research online before deciding if they are right for you. Please email us at scratchcats@gmail.com for any questions you have about Alfie and Siri. You can fill out an adoption application at www.scratchinc.org/adoption.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This beautiful girl was rescued in April near a homeless camp. She had a degloved tail injury, which caused part of her tail to be amputated in May. She was rescued with another cat, Emmy, and she became fast friends with her until Emmy was adopted. Penny is ready for her forever home. Ideally this would be a quiet home (where she has her own safe space) and another friendly cat or two for her to have as a feline friend. She would thrive in a home with someone who works from home or is retired. She loves to sit and watch others, and she will be easy peasy to have in your home! Penny is shy and will take some time to adjust to her new home, but we know that she will bond with her special person. She is gentle and very sweet. She enjoys snuggling other cats, eating churu treats, looking out the window, playing with her cat toys and getting chin scratches. The shy cats are the ones who need our help the most. You can apply to adopt our Penny here: https://www.scratchinc.org/adoption.
