Story
Bentley is an 11-month old male Dutch Shepherd mix puppy (most likely Belgian Malinois) who was picked up as a stray by Stanislaus Animal Services. This poor puppy was so traumatized at the time of intake, but is now safe with rescue in a wonderful foster home, where he can decompress and begin to feel safe and loved.  As Bentley is new to us, we will post additional information as we come to know him better. What we can tell you, is that he is a sweet little boy, and didn’t hesitate to come to our volunteer upon first greeting.  He is just learning about the crate, and does well with other dogs (although can be a bit shy at first).  His first night in his foster home, he slept in his crate all night with no issues. Bentley will require a committed and loving human who will make him a part of the family, providing the care and attention that every young pup needs. Only older dog-savvy children 8 and above in an adoptive home will be considered. It will be necessary for an adopter to have recent successful experience in raising a GSD, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, or other large breed working puppy. An adopter who will begin and continue his obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended, to ensure he remains on the path of a well-behaved canine companion. We are currently screening applications for the best possible fit; however, he will not be available until he has received all age appropriate vaccinations. ##1805152##

Max, neutered male, 1-year-old, 38-lbs If you would like to give Max a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Meet Max! Max is a mellow and cheerful young pup with loving nature. He is close to humans, always greet people with a big smile and non-stop wagging tail and hip. He is super smart and aimed to please, so is easy to train. Around the house he obeys rules, has good judgement, and good self-discipline. He waits patiently before eating his food, before going thru doorways, and when getting in and out of the car. He checks-in often with his human, sitting very still and gazing up politely. He loves the head/tummy rubs and cuddling that follows. He loves to eat and gets excited before taking a walk, but will heed to command well. Max is crate trained to sleep overnight and potty trained to go outside. His favorite pastime is his daily walks, and romping around with doggie friends in the park. About Max’ rescue: Max was one of the lucky TNR (trap/neuter/release) shelter dogs that was bailed out by the rescuer before his scheduled release date. Story
Nina is an active 2yo 45lb border collie/german shepherd mix. She has a lot of personality and can be a total derp (tongue hanging out sideways and everything)! She's housebroken and crate trained, and walks amazing on the leash! She loves other dogs and is good with indoor cats. She is pretty high energy and enjoys going on hikes and playing with her canine siblings. She MUST go to a home where there is a resident confident adult medium-large dog (she worships the male german shepherd in her foster home but is best friends with a female Doberman the same age.. she's fine with small dogs but she's a bit too rambunctious for them). She has also discovered the comforts of the couch and loves to lay along the top and get petted while you watch movies. Because she can still be skittish with people though, she should NOT go to a home with children or apartment living (no exceptions!). She would do best in a gentle, quiet adult only home with another dog and a house with fenced yard. She has gained a lot of skills and confidence while in her foster home, but she is ready for the next chapter in her life with a new family that will continue to help her grow. Here is Nina’s story video: https://youtu.be/KxWGwurZVWk King is Nina’s companion/emotional support dog. He’s a 7-8yo purebred 75lb German Shepherd. Nina WORSHIPS him and is his shadow, follows him everywhere, and they even crate together. King is a mellow boy who prefers lounging in the house or on the couch. He would do best in a cat-free home.  They are not for first time dog owner, but when together they’re pretty easy. All they need is a couch and a yard.  Adoption fee for the two together will be $550. Nina can also be adopted by herself without King, however, we are requiring she go to a home that has another resident dog, and that she goes with a pal pup (either King or another known friend) for the first week during the transition phase, so that she doesn’t panic in a new home. Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc March 27, 2024, 4:55 am

Story
Sadie is a loyal ~2yo spayed 55 pound active small German Shepherd. She loves lots of affection, long walks and playing with her toys. She is a moderate energy dog, playful and active but also settles down nicely indoors by your feet. She is housetrained and sleeps in a crate.  She will need an active home that will keep her mentally and physically busy. She will chase cats that run. She needs proper intro to new dogs.   She is undersocialized and also needs continued training and structure. She needs continued socializing with other dogs and people (reactive in public). She would do best in a home with German Shepherd experience, as she can be insecure and also defensive/protective. She would do best with a single woman, or will need experienced handlers in a multi ADULT home (NO CHILDREN) who will be willing to commit to working on her socialization. NO APARTMENTS! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc March 27, 2024, 4:55 am

Story
Emma is a beautiful, large, purebred GSD. We love her dearly but we need to find her a new home. We have a family member with severe allergies and nothing has changed with her condition. Emma is recently spayed, up to date with all her shots, and has gone through 6 weeks of board and train. She is great on and off leash but could use some additional training for perfect recall, especially on hikes. She comes with a pedigree that is quite impressive! She is truly magnificent!
