Story
Brindle, bright-eyed, and full of heart, Diesel is the best mix of athlete and goofball. He loves people, makes soft eye contact, and is eager to work for treats or toys-classic Dutchie! His favorite toy is a blue & pink rugby ball. He has done well meeting friendly dogs with proper introductions and respectful play. He gets excited fast and will need someone to give him proper outlet and structure. We recommend a working-breed-savvy, active home that enjoys training and enrichment. Teens/older kids who can participate in his routine could work; cats are unknown. After activity, he settles nicely and leans in for affection-loyal, attentive, and ready to be someone's shadow. If you've been looking for a smart partner to adventure with and train, this boy is your guy. Quick highlights 1.5 years old, Dutch Shepherd (brindle male) • Social, affectionate, toy & food motivated (loves fetch) • Enjoys hikes/runs/training games • Dog-friendly with proper intro; cats unknown • Best with shepherd-savvy, active adopters Diesel is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He's currently located in Vallejo CA

Say hello to Cruz -- a spirited young pup with energy to spare and a zest for life that's downright contagious! This playful adventurer loves to run, romp, and make every moment exciting. He's still mastering the art of walking nicely on leash, but with his sharp mind and eagerness to learn, he's ready to keep growing into the superstar companion he's meant to be. Cruz is still growing -- both in size and smarts -- and he'd love a home that will help him keep learning more and more to fill that big, brilliant head of his. He can be a little cautious when meeting new people, but give him a moment (and maybe a tasty snack or two -- he's a total foodie!) and you'll have a loyal buddy for life. Meet Nonna—a sweet, 75-pound Dutch Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her paws! Story
Obie (short for Old Boy) is a sweet old boy looking for a comfy couch to call his own. He has a beautiful fluffy coat that he enjoys a nice brushing of. Obie is a quiet and dignified couch potato. He is fine with everyone but particularly loves men. He loves ear scratches and a nice snooze. Obie is currently on medication for seizures. He takes this medication twice a day and it has greatly reduced his occurrence of seizures. He takes his medications easily if hidden in cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt. Obie is house trained with a doggie door right now. He enjoys spending his afternoons outside relaxing. He can be scared by loud things like fireworks but has done well with CBD as needed for this very specific anxiety. Obie does not really care for treats or toys. Treats he has enjoyed for training include lamb roast, mashed potatoes and eggs. He thinks vegetables are yucky. He seems to have been new to dog food but has taken to it well with some patience. Obie previously lived with another large dog and got along well with her. She would even snap at him sometimes and he would not really react. He simply wanted to be her friend. We also believe Obie will be fine with mannerly children. He has met toddlers and takes care to not knock them over. When meeting cats indoors, Obie was excited but did not necessarily exhibit high prey drive. He allowed his foster mom to call him back as she removed the cat. When he sees cats outdoors he like to try to chase them, though this is true of most dogs (even those that live with cats). All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training at no additional cost to help ensure a successful adoption. To meet Obie, fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Once an application is filled out, our volunteers will reach out to you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel once out he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe then cooperative loves treats and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous. Max did great during his transport car ride but once at a new place he was nervous and confused. Did take treats. Once he knows you he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns. 7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs. With time he adjusted to new people at home. He is still leary of of strangers. Bonded to his foster mom. Loves his walks/hikes playing ball and relaxing at his foster home. 9/12/21: Sadly when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs during their two meets her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats snuggled being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe. Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home. Donations needed to help pay for his boarding. To date since 10/20/21 over $4000. 10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Max goes to male volunteer for hot dogs long walk and fine being petted. Max is a sweetie with people he knows and trust. Max would be a great hiking and home buddy.YouTube: https://youtu.be/veR-UfNMVfgNovember 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Hansel was rescued from a distant shelter. He has been neglected yet he is very sweet warms up then friendly and cuddles when being carried. Huge thanks to Tama Veterinary Hospital for squeezing him in on the day we rescued him. He was loaded with fleas and had to have capstar to kill all the fleas and has pot belly from worms. Hansel got exam stool test Drontal plus (dewormer) rabies and microchip. Ear infection was cleaned with 2 week ear meds packed in. His foster home had to bath him right away to get rid of the fleas and dirt. Poor Hansel is so young but was neglected with poor diet fleas and worms thus dull coat. He will get extra TLC have dog playmates and get healthy soon at his HERO Foster Home that WFH. Fh cooks home-made foods to add to meals. Onward now to a great happy and spoiled life. 9/30/23 update from his Foster Home: He will try anything without fear as long as he knows I am nearby to keep him safe. He fetches a ball and returns it. His recall is excellent. He is doing very well on a leash. Loves playing in water. Gusto followed his dog buddies right into the water and started swimming. He is very motivated to play with other dogs once introduced properly. Fine with her cat. He is getting lots of socialization opportunities. He is active and need daily brisk long walks and jogs. Foster home thinks he may need active guardians for K9 work or dog sports. Very intelligent curious receptive and high energy. He goes on one leash walk and two off leash walks/hikes per day. No kids because he will chase them. Update: Hansel needs to stay on leash to learn not to want to chase after runners cars or bikes. This is common for some young teens if not trained to ignore. Need one on one training to train impulse control and recall. He will work with a trainer soon for loose leash training. From our GSD experienced volunteers and what we have seen he seems to be a normal smart GSD teen energy but does need active and experienced guardian for daily exercise someone home and focus on one on one training and classes. Dog sports is always fun and great for young dogs. Need to train for recall and other commands. Loves playing with other dogs.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Handsome Jacob was rescued off the PTS list for 10/20/25. He is well behaved and quiet in his cage (shelter rarely walk or take out) but he was cooperative. Due to no more cage space the shelter had him in cage run with another dog Husky who was more dominate. Shelter even neutered him last week since he is a sweetie and thought he would get adopted. He enjoyed going out to play yard walks and meeting other dogs on leash. Soft mouth for treats. Saw him playing with a female cattle dog. Thanks to our hero foster home and trainer for saving his life she will temp. foster/board him until we find him a GSD-experienced foster home or foster to adoption home. He was quiet and well behaved on his long transport ride. Did great meeting his foster home and loaded up into car crate and super well behaved with a bath and adjusting to his new temp. home. He is a truly a sweetie and gorgeous. Learning commands quickly. Loves playing with other dogs. See his great new dog video.
