Story
#MADLoveRuger is built for an active person who wants a partner for every adventure . He helped the foster change a floodlight today and even tried to climb the ladder with him. That is Ruger in a nutshell. Curious, involved, and always ready to go.
He has a serious nose . A coon got into the foster’s backyard and Ruger picked up the scent the second they opened the door. He is smart, confident, and learns fast.
His ball drive is the real deal .
He does not mind rain. With the right guidance he would be a fantastic dock diving dog.
He is excellent on leash. He is house trained. He is people friendly in neutral spaces. At home he becomes protective of his people and his space, which is natural for him but worth knowing.
For kids, older is better than younger. He would thrive with an active family that wants a go everywhere dog. Neutral, calm pets could be fine with slow and proper introductions. High-energy dogs and young puppies are not a match for him. A privacy fence is the better choice for him. He can be reactive to other dogs through chain link and we are working on it with redirected ball play.
He should not be left unsupervised yet. He will get into things. He is too smart for his own good.
Ruger is sharp, loyal, and ready to bond hard with the right person. If you want a partner who keeps up, keeps you laughing, and keeps life interesting, he is your guy.

We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each our our dogs is posted with the name of the pet or in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
