Story
HI -I'M NOMI! I'm a 5-year-old beautiful Dutch Shepherd-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. My name means "beautiful" and "delightful" and it is so fitting, because I have a gorgeous brindle coat and a sweet face. I was rescued from a California shelter, and now have been waiting patiently for someone to notice me! I am gentle with people, and am friendly with most dogs, though I can get jealous at times. I would probably thrive as an only dog where I could get all of the attention, or hang out with a submissive male. I weigh 68 pounds. I would love a new home this year! Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
Angelina the ballerina is her name and she is as sweet as the name makes her sound. She is a gentle girl with a soft side for people and a budding love for toys. Her favorite toy? Hmmm… a tennis ball or stuffie are the top contenders but she wants to try them all before giving you her final decision. Take a look at her in action then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/ykeiiKruv10 Angelina is estimated to be around 6 months old and she currently weighs an absolutely adorable 21 lbs. She may be a shepherd mix but in rescue both age and breed are details we cannot guarantee. She isn’t full-grown yet but we anticipate she will be somewhere near 50lbs as an adult. Angelina has the slightest bit of shyness in new environments, she is young after all so it is understandable. Angelina loves the company of a confident dog and is an ideal +1 pal if you are here looking for a buddy for your current dog. When introduced to new dogs she a touch shy but that quickly melted into fun. Within five minutes she was playing chase and bouncing around as happy-go-lucky as could be. Angelina has solid basic leash skills and is very attentive, pair that with her age and she is prime for learning and training. The favorite time I spent with Angelina was once we were inside where she warmed up to a group of people who had all come to visit her. She played with a tennis ball, greeted everyone, and happily enjoyed some treats. While inside we did get to hear her “voice.” Whether she is just talkative or was responding to a dog outside, her vocal side means apartment life isn’t for her. Basically, she would love a home with a yard where she can sniff around, sunbathe, and enjoy her favorite toys without the busy nature or noise complaints of apartment life. This girl is all heart and has so much love to give. With a little patience and a lot of love, Angelina is going to be the loyal, fun-loving companion dreams are made of! Questions? You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! **All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** **Requirements another dog in the home, fenced backyard*** Millie (spayed) and Spud (neutered) 1yrs old, Dutch Shepard, Boxer, Pit mixes. They came from a animal hoarding property, their sister Chili was more than ready for a home alone, these two would prefer a home with another confident, sweet dog. Millie loves playing with many of our dogs here, she has learned so much and is becoming a brave girl, it does take her time to warm up to people. She loves other dogs, from Pitbulls to huskies to German Shepard's to little terriers, smaller to larger, he loves them all. She would flourish in a home with another dog who is brave, confident and gentle in nature. From her adopter she needs patience, time for her to acclimate, a fenced backyard, no young kids or loud adults, her hoarding home was very loud with over 15 dogs and a lot of people. She just needs a chance a gentle human and dog buddy, like she has here with us. My adoption fee is $250

Story
Hi!  My name is Stella. I am a 2 yrs old spayed Shepherd mix and I am 45 pounds. I was rescued at the very last minute of scheduled euthanasia at the highkill shelter in Los Angeles! Thanks to AllJoy4paws Rescue for saving my life! I am currently learning to live my best life with my foster family in San Diego. This is what my foster mom says about me: PERSONALITY: Stella is such a beautiful girl packed with personality.  Stella is an affectionate, sweet, loving, and spunky girl.  She is curious, has lots of energy, enjoys playtime, and loves attention. In fact, she wants ALL of the attention.   She wants to please and is very eager to please.  Whether it is going on long walks, or adventures outside, she will be ready to join in on the fun.   Stella benefits from mental stimulation and is a quick, and eager learner.  She knows the command “sit” when presented with her food or a treat. She is potty trained, has all her shots, is on flea medication, and is spayed. She has been learning to relax in the crate.  If she needs to be left alone, she doesn’t seem to mind napping in her comfy crate.  She has been fine left alone at home without being inside of the crate, but the crate is beneficial for her to relax.  She sleeps in the crate at night. Stella will prance and nudge your hand and want to be your companion, she is non-aggressive and bonds fast. BEHAVIOR: Don’t judge this sweet girl.  She may seem overly excited but that is because she is only 22 months old.  She is strong and has a deep voice. Stella is living with her human mom and dad, human brother and sister, and her 18 pound Maltese mix doggie brother named Charlie.  Stella is learning to share with Charlie.  She plays appropriately with him.  She can get jealous at times.  Charlie is quite smaller than Stella, and Stella likes to use her front paws to play with him.  She opens her mouth over him, and although it looks scary, she is only trying to tease him. Stella engages and initiates play activity with Charlie and will sometimes even jump over him.   She is polite and will not beg for food. Stella likes to relax on her dog bed, in her open crate, or anywhere on the floor. She redirects well and will listen to the command “Off” as she is learning not to jump on people nor the inside furniture.  She listens well and is learning not to go up the steps, and is learning not to sleep in Charlie’s bed. Stella needs a forever home, to be an inside dog (with access to outside) with a loving family that is willing to walk and exercise with her. Although she loves dog companions, if she gets lots of human attention, she will also do well as the only doggie in the house. She is learning proper leash skills.  With additional leash training, Stella will make a great addition to a fur-ever family. Currently being cared in Southern California, Stella is ready to embark on a new journey, willing to be transported to everywhere within the US continental, where a wonderful, suitable family awaits to shower her with love and care, and give her the life she deserves.
