He came to AAU rescue a bit underweight, and should fill out to around 14 pounds with steady meals and kindness.   Shy at first meeting, Bruce is the kind of dog who watches the world carefully before deciding it’s safe. Give him a little time, and his whole demeanor transforms. Once he trusts you, he becomes sweet, gentle, and oh-so-affectionate. This is one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, because this dog has been our best friend and loyal companion for the past five years. He is truly a loving, devoted dog who just wants to be close to his people. He absolutely loves cozying up with you at night, following you from room to room, and being by your side whenever he can. Walks are one of his favorite parts of the day, and he lights up when it’s time to play fetch; especially if his beloved ice cream cone toy is involved. He thrives on affection and will happily soak up praise, especially when he’s told he’s the best dog ever (which he absolutely is). We are rehoming him due to challenges adjusting to life with our new baby. This decision comes from a place of love and wanting what’s best for him. He deserves a home where he can feel relaxed, secure, and be someone’s number one companion again. He has so much love to give and will make an incredible best friend to the right person.
