Story
A FRIENDLY LITTLE FELLOW: Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 14 lbs. Hi, I'm Newton! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and now I hear that I'm ready to find a wonderful family of my very own, where I can love and be loved furever! I hope to meet them very soon and charm them with my cuteness! I came in heartworm positive, but I'll be treated for that soon, so local adoption please. I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me. Perhaps it you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and though I wasn't quite ready to play, I also didn't show any aggression. I also co-exist nicely with the 6-year-old male and female dogs in my foster home, taking naps together and sniffing around the yard, with just one little scuffle over a treat on the floor so please feed us separately. If you have a nice dog at home already, let's meet! / I just ignore the cat in my foster home, but all cats are different, so I'm not sure how I would be with another kitty. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let's meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a curious boy with a little pep in my step and a whole lot of sweetness! I'm friendly, loving, and happy, curious and everyone says I'm such a good dog and a little sweetheart. I have fun little bursts of energy and cuteness—rolling around in the grass, chasing my tail, tossing a toy in the air and doing that cute little prayer paws pose with a little dance when I am so hopeful you will give me a treat. I am also very affectionate and can give kisses for days. I follow my foster around like a little shadow—do you need one? / Energy level: 3-5, but may increase a bit after my heartworm treatment. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the 'come', 'leave it', 'drop it' and 'place' commands and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I did well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and sleep well in a little pen area with an open crate in my foster home. / My potty habits are good in my foster home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love cuddles, pets, scritches, kisses, and I enjoy going for walks. Once I'm settled into my new home, I'm sure we'll discover lots more things we will love to do together! / I get a little nervous during baths and car rides and like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Sadly, I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, so I'm heartworm positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that soon, and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet. I hope to be with my new family before treatment begins! I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.
