Story
https://foha.org/pet/milo2024/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Milo (pronounced MEE-LO)—a small dog with a big heart! I’m a sweet, speedy little guy who loves both playful adventures and peaceful moments. I have a cute routine of carrying a chew toy in my mouth when I’m getting ready for walks. I enjoy spending time outside soaking up the sun and doing my lightning-fast zoomies. After a fun outing, I’m the perfect co-pilot who curls up and naps in the car. I’m a bit timid at first but eager to connect with my people. I’ve thrived in a home environment and have done well living with other dogs, though I do appreciate breaks from them sometimes. I’m loyal, intelligent, and affectionate—just the right companion for active yet cozy days. And make sure to scroll down past my bio to see all the AMAZING videos my foster mom has posted! You can really see how much I thrive in a home, and maybe it’ll help you see how I could be in your home and heart! HOW AM I WITH DOGS: Good with dogs with proper introductions. I’ve lived with multiple dogs and did great, but I may need patience and breaks from them occasionally. HOW AM I WITH CATS: I am a bit too interested in cats and would do best in a home without feline friends. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Unknown. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Sit, stay, come. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I have good house manners! THINGS I LIKE: Chew toys, sunny yard time, car rides, cuddling, zoomies. THINGS I DISLIKE: Storms, sudden dog encounters in public places. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS – https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet. My adoption fee has been covered by a generous donor!!

Story
Meet Shaggy...One of the Scooby Doo puppies! Shaggy's story began on Kelly Mountain in Logan County, West Virginia, where he, his mom, and two brothers were found abandoned by a group of hunters far from any nearby homes. When the hunters stopped, the little family immediately approached them, friendly and social, leading us to believe they once belonged to someone and were intentionally left behind. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stepped in and took the family into her home until rescue help could be secured. Because of her compassion, Shaggy got the second chance he deserved. His mom and brothers have all been adopted, so now it’s Shaggy’s turn. For the past few months, Shaggy has been in his local foster home, living as part of a busy family. He's being fostered with a mom and dad, two children, two adult dogs, and has frequent toddler visitors from the 3-year-old grandson. He loves kids and is very gentle and affectionate with them. He would happily spend his day being held or included in whatever his people are doing. Shaggy has great house manners - he is crate trained, potty trained, sleeps through the night, and is not destructive. He has moved beyond the baby puppy stage now. He's a naturally happy boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and loves spending time with his family. Like many young dogs, Shaggy is still working on his leash manners and social skills. He can be barky when meeting some new people or dogs while on leash, though it's intermittent and situation-dependent. We had a trainer evaluate him, and he feels Shaggy simply needs more exposure to new environments outside the home to continue building his confidence. His foster family has been working with him consistently, and he's already making progress.  We believe Shaggy's ideal home would include another confident, social dog to be both a playmate and a role model. He would likely do best in a suburban setting rather than a busy urban environment. This sweet boy is ready for a forever family that will continue helping him grow while giving him all the love of family. ❤️ Apply today ! BREED ESTIMATE: Feist or Terrier Mix (his brothers were part Beagle) GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~ 29 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  6 months old COAT TYPE:  short ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Vienna, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
Lola is truly a dog in a million! Though why she ended up in a rural Virginia shelter remains a mystery, one thing is certain: everyone who meets her agrees she is absolutely perfect. Training & Manners: Lola comes fully prepared for her forever home. She loves car rides. Both crate-trained and house-trained, she walks beautifully on a leash without pulling, and is remarkably quiet and obedient. Her foster family reports zero separation anxiety or destructive behaviors, making her adaptable to any living situation. And did we mention she is photogenic and will happily pose for your pictures? Social Butterfly: A gentle soul, Lola is incredibly loving and affectionate with everyone she meets, especially women and children. She thrives in a pack environment, getting along famously with her current dog roommates. There is no resource guarding or toy stealing with this girl; she shares happily. The shelter team thought she was good with cats, noting her complete lack of prey drive—she even ignores squirrels! The Perfect Fit: Whether you live in a cozy apartment or a sprawling house, Lola will flourish as long as she is by your side. She is the ultimate companion who simply wants a chance to love and be loved. Could that person be you? HART Homepage: https://hart90.org/ Questions About this Animal? Story
Meet Maisy – Your Built-In Hype Girl with Cow-Print Spots 🤍🖤 With her adorable black-and-white “cow” spots and bright personality, Maisy is the kind of dog you don’t forget. She’s equal parts silly, smart, and deeply loving—and once you’re in her circle, you’ll feel like the most important person in the world. Maisy may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give her a bit of time and you’ll meet her true self: a joyful, affectionate girl who absolutely adores her humans. When she loves you, she LOVES you. Having a rough day? Maisy will be right there making you feel like you hung the moon just by existing. She is incredibly people-focused and thrives on connection, attention, and shared moments with her favorite humans. Maisy is also very smart and picks up new tricks quickly—she loves learning and shines when given a chance to engage her mind. She enjoys toys, long walks, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get. Maisy is truly happiest when she’s with her people, being part of their world. While Maisy is making great progress, she is still working on her reactivity and will need a home without other dogs. With continued guidance, structure, and patience, she is learning more every day and growing in confidence. What we love most about Maisy is how much she wants to do well and how far she’s already come. Her adoption fee has been waived to help her find the loving, understanding home she’s been waiting for. Maisy isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for her person. The one she can adore endlessly, cheer for endlessly, and love with her whole big heart. Story
Fiona is a great lap dog and loves to just hang out or go for car rides. Shes older now so when we do walk I take her doggy stroller to give her a break when she needs one. We need to find a home for her hopefully where someone is home at all times as she is getting older she cannot hold it like she used to. Shes rather skittish during storms and hides. She also has summer allergies that make her want to lick her paws relentlessly. I have yo give her up due to her not doing very well with children unfortunately.
