Story
Male, approx. 8 years old, 23 lbs Personality: Calm, snuggler, and smart. Omar is a sweet, snuggly old man who has taken quickly to his new life in the city. His favorite activity is to curl up in your lap and get pets, and he will happily sit with you through work, TV, or any other sedentary activities if it means cuddles! Though his crate is a new experience for Omar, he happily sleeps in his crate overnight and will even put himself in his crate to nap. Omar's love for food and treats makes training a breeze, and he has taken particularly quickly to his snuffle mat! While he is still working on house training (a totally new concept for Omar), Omar enjoys his luxuriously slow walks - the more time for sniffing, the better. Could this old man be your perfect companion? Apply today to meet Omar! ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:   Scout  (SCO1223OWSMN)Estimated Breed:   Feist MIX  Approximate Age:   4 yearsApproximate Weight:   18 lbs (small)Currently Living at:   FosterAdoption Fee:   $375DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Scout is a cute little guy who was found in the woods as a 4 month old puppy, but spent the last 3.5 years in a loving home. Unfortunately Scout is not compatible with young children, so he needs to be re-homed to an adult only home or a home with older kids. Scout loves people, but can be dog selective with other dogs and has not lived with other dogs. He's a bit cautious with adults he doesn't know, but can be won over easily with a treat and a bit of encouragement. At home Scout is very affectionate and gentle, a moderate energy dog who is happy to snooze for hours at your feet or on the sofa (preferably with his head on your lap), but also always eager and ready for a walk or some play time when invited.  He is fully housetrained, walks well on a leash and loves learning new tricks. He would love to find an experienced adopter who will give him the happy life he deserves. Scout would do best in a single family home with a fenced yard. If you're looking for a loving and devoted companion, Scout is your man!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Pretty Gabbi is 6-1/2yo, weighs 25lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Through no fault of her own, as she's a great dog, her guardian has made the difficult decision to rehome her.  "Gabbi knows sit and for some reason she understands 'you can come' when I'm leaving the house.  She LOVES riding in the car and is very disappointed when she can't come.  Gabbi is so loving.  She loves to cuddle.  Her spot is right next to me on the bed.  She loves giving kisses. And, she will howl now and then when she's excited.  It's so cute !!!!   For a 6-7yo dog, she seems very young and energetic.  She could use a little more training.  I have to train her alone because she can't focus with the other dogs around." Gabbi's guardian states why she's made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "I have six dogs plus my daughter's chihuahua - so a total of seven.  My health isn't the best, and I'm finding seven dogs to be too much energy in the house - even though they are like therapy pets and I enjoy them tremendously." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding children:  Gabbi has been around children, ages 0-16, in her previous home, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Gabbi has not been around children since I got her in August, but her previous owner (who I'm still in touch with) says Gabbi has been around many children from newborn to age 16 and she was great with them.  The previous owner says that if the children pulled her tail or got too rough with her, Gabbi would just run away." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Gabbi lives with 6 other dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Gabbi does great with all of our dogs.  She can be a little bossy with them, but she gets along great with them." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Gabbi lives with a cat, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "Gabbi loves to chase and bark at our cat, but she has never hurt the cat." Gabbi's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Gabbi's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "She would love to be in a family who will give a lot of love and affection.  She would probably do better without cats and probably fewer dogs than I have." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Mechanicsville, MD ***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. When your application is received, a Placement Manager will do a basic screening. Applications will be forwarded to the owner for further screening and continuation in the adoption process.  3. Please give us 48-72 hours for a Placement Manager to respond after you submit your application. If it has been longer than that, please email:  rescuewellrehome@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE: We provide ALL of the information we have on this pet, here on this page, in its entirety from the pet's owner. For more on how our process works, please read our DISCLOSURE.   IMPORTANT: By completing an adoption application, you consent to Rescue Well screening your application, contacting your references, and forwarding your application to the pet owner for further consideration.
