As a Rescue do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Meet Athena! Athena is a sweet fluffy girl who is around 12 weeks old. She weighs 18#s and super sweet! She does have something wrong with her rear leg, she’s been to the vet for x rays and it’s an old break, it’s starting to fuse, she will put weight on occasionally but usually doesn’t. The vet recommended a wait and see approach, at her age she may use it more as it heals more or it could require amputation, we can do that here prior to adoption. She doesn’t let it slow her down at all.

Story
. Kory is about 3 years old, weighs roughly 45 pounds, and is the kind of dog who quietly works his way into your heart. He's crate trained, potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, and in structured social settings does wonderfully. He is not chaotic or unpredictable—he is thoughtful, observant, and always taking in the world around him. Kory loves other dogs and, quite honestly, needs one in his forever home. Not just any dog, but a truly calm, confident, stable dog who can help him navigate new situations. When Kory has that canine guidance, his confidence grows tremendously and his sweet, affectionate personality shines. Once he trusts you, Kory is incredibly loving. He enjoys affection, seeks out his people for comfort, and is happiest when he feels safe and understood. However, he is naturally sensitive and can be skeptical of new people and unfamiliar situations. When overwhelmed, he may bark or try to create distance, but these behaviors are simply his way of communicating that he needs a little more space and reassurance. Kory isn't a plug-and-play dog. He needs adopters who understand decompression, respect his pace, and won't rush him. He thrives with structure, consistency, and patient leadership rather than pressure. Kory's ideal home includes:• A calm, confident resident dog• No cats• No small children• A structured, lower-chaos environment• People committed to helping him continue building confidence The right match matters more than speed for Kory. He is a really good dog who has shown us that time and time again. He doesn't need someone to fix him—he needs someone who understands him, believes in him, and is willing to give him the environment he needs to thrive. We are taking this placement seriously. We moved too optimistically before. That’s on us. We will not repeat that. Please understand that reviewing applications for Kory may take longer than our typical timeline. We are going to move slowly and intentionally.     This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. ##2559576##

Story
Meet Kodak!Kodak is the president of Goofy Ears R Us and he takes his role very, very seriously. Which is good because he takes absolutely nothing else in life seriously.A young lab mix at about seven months old, Kodak is FULL of life and energy. He WILL need training, of course, as he's (literally) a puppy with little to no manners. We're teaching him what we can at the shelter but he's going to need consistency so his training WILL need to be continued in his forever home. He's about 46lbs right now and will probably be around 55-60lbs when full grown.Kodak LOVES other dogs. Like, he is obsessed with them. His enthusiasm knows no bounds so he can be a little much for older dogs that have zero patience for shenanigans or for more introverted dogs that want NO part of his nonsense. But a dog that will match his energy? It will be comedy hour 24/7. We would prefer not placing him with cats because he does not understand angry cat language and he WILL instigate like a teenage boy. He also loves people. He's an extrovert to the extreme. He loves getting attention, loves being involved in whatever it is you're doing, and loves playing with toys. He's definitely got mouthy puppy energy (again, he'll need training) so we would recommend older kids (12+) or an adult only home until he's learned his manners. He DOES have skin allergies so adopters will need to stay on top of monitoring his skin and seeking vet care when necessary. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.

Rex just turned 2, he’s a great dog. We a looking for a home where he get can more attention then he gets now, I currently travel for work and I’m not home much and our son just got diagnosed with DMDD and he requires a lot of attention that we don’t get to give to Rex. He’s great with kids and loves being outside, it hurts us not being able to give him attention but hurts even more giving him up but we know he deserves a home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Meet Morris! While he may have the distinguished white face of a dapper older gentleman, don't count him out just yet!Morris is about seven years old and weighs just around 53lbs. He's a good, solid, medium sized boy and he's a lab/shepherd mix. He's got the sweet, silly, extroverted personality and the overwhelming NEED to be friends with everyone of a lab and the brains of a shepherd. When we say that Morris wants to be friends with everyone, we mean EVERYONE. Other dogs, cats, humans, it doesn't matter. He's been super respectful of itty bitty kittens and, once one of our grumper cats started her grumbling, he turned around and noped right out of the room. Despite being seven years old, Morris absolutely LIGHTS UP around other dogs - it's all play bowing and whining and hopping around because all he wants to do is play with them! He's an absolute sucker for butt scratches and will swing his butt at you until he gets the attention he wants. There is no avoiding the booty bump. He's decent on a leash but can pull a little heavy when he really wants to get somewhere. He knows sit and give paw and will give you both of his paws whether you asked for them or not. He's shown mild interest in tennis balls (will chase and boop them) but doesn't seem all that into toys - he's way more into people and other dogs!If you're looking for a social, sweet, easygoing, gentle older guy...Morris might be your soulmate. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application.
