Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program If this is your pet, please contact us immediately at AnimalCenter@wake.gov Primary Color: Blue Weight: 25 Age: 0yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Rey is a shy, reserved pup who's been through more than she lets on. She came to us with some unknown wounds-both inside and out-but with time, care, and a lot of love, she's healing beautifully. She arrived along with a neutered, unwounded male, but so far, she prefers to coexist rather than engage in play with another male.Though cautious at first, Rey has a quiet strength that shines through in the little moments: a soft glance, a slow tail wag, the way she leans in just a bit closer each day. She's not one for loud noises or busy places, but in a calm home with a patient heart, she'll flourish.Rey was briefly tested with cats by a volunteer-she's very timid about getting in the car but then rode quietly. Not particularly interested in the cats, she was more focused on exploring the house. It's possible her reduced energy could be a result of her past injuries, so it's best to go slow and supervise her cat interactions in the beginning. In playgroups, Rey is a bit of a timid gal. She's shy and can become shutdown, even in her kennel. However, she perked up around another shy male dog though he wasn't interested in interacting. We tried pairing her with a more playful dog, but it was a bit too much for her, and she became a little squawky. We'll need to find her the "Goldilocks" partner-someone gentle and dainty, who can bring out her quiet confidence without overwhelming her.Rey is looking for someone who understands that healing takes time-and that sometimes, the quietest dogs have the most to say. If you're someone who believes in second chances and finding beauty in the gentle ones, Rey is waiting to meet you.Although she is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. Primary Color: Brown Weight: 53 Age: 3yrs 10mths 2wks

Story
Pretty Girl is not just pretty, she brings more to the party! She is potty trained, trusted to have free run in the house, loves her walks, gets along with most dogs (she doesn't care for the ones who get right in her face, but who does?), and does well with a 2-year-old human. She loves to lay in the sun soaking up the rays, loves to be pet, loves her treats and boy, she really loves butt scratches. Pretty Girl prefers to be a couch potato then a high energy dog but has plenty of good energy. She lives with 3 large dogs and is dog savvy enough to play well and let them know when they go a little too far. We don't know how she is with cats. Pretty Girl is living in a foster home but really wants a home to call her own. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: White Weight: 64 Age: 11yrs 11mths 1wks
