Beau is a gorgeous, fun loving, young man who loves a good belly rub! Because Beau came to us as a stray, we don’t know much of his history. We can assume he was kept outside at times because he was found with a collar, with a rusty clasp attached to a portion of torn leash. He was seen wandering around for a few days in an open field near his rescuer’s workplace. Beau is the perfect running buddy! Because he's young and needs to expend some of his energy an active home would be best. Beau has really enjoyed his morning runs and nightly walks. He would LOVE a house with a yard! Beau is fully house trained and sleeps well through the night. His preferred wake up time is 7, although he'll try to keep himself occupied with toys if you want another 30-60 minutes of sleep. Because Beau is overly enthusiastic about playing with other dogs and doesn't accept no for an answer, we'd prefer to place him as an only dog. We might make an exception for a local adopter with a similar sized, balanced dog who is able to put his/her foot down when they don't want to play anymore. Beau was curious about his original fosters’ cat and showed no signs of aggression, but due to his lack of social awareness, he'd probably do best in a home without another small animal for him to try to force to play with him. Beau has been hit or miss in regards to whether he's fine when left alone. At his original fosters' home he didn't mind being left alone and was given free range of most of the house, but at his new fosters' home he gets stressed. This could be because he's confined to one room to keep him from trying to force the small breed resident dogs to play with him. Since Beau was a stray, it is unknown his experience with children. Beau had the opportunity to meet some neighborhood kids on his walks, and he gently and respectfully accepted their petting him. Je vous présente Mon Cher! This big boy is super chill and sweet. We can't get over how calm and friendly he is... a true gentleman... polite and charming. But this big fella had a rough journey to the shelter. Police officers found him living as a stray with several other dogs under a trailer. Animal control had to drag him out with a catch pole. Then he completely shut down. No tail wags, no nothing. So scared and confused and depressed. He had to be carried around everywhere.... which was tricky at almost 70 pounds!! But once he came to stay with us as a foster, he has bounced back. He LOVES to relax on the couch. And enjoys regular meal times. He plays well with my beagle boy and our other foster girl (Tootie). He has spurts of energy where he frolics and zooms around the yard. But for the most part he is incredibly calm. Just a jolly guy. He also likes when my husband chases him around playing tag. He understands the game. He is pretty good with our cats, though he gets in their faces too much sometimes and they hiss and swat at him... he leaves them alone then. He warms up to visitors at the house quickly. An all around good boy!! The main things we are working on are leash walks. He does not like anything around his neck, so we use a harness. He's not too fond of the harness either, but is doing better. He prefers the fenced in backyard where he does his business. He also does not like the crate. He'll go in there if coaxed with tasty treats, and then he's fine. But getting him in there can be a challenge. We've been leaving him out of the kennel during the days while at work. Bowen is a high-energy youngster ready for life's adventures! He has potential in spades, learns quickly, and already knows sit, down, stay, come, and drop it. He's potty trained, loves fetch, and happily races around with his prize. Chew toys are helping him channel those puppy behaviors appropriately. Bowen needs continued training, especially with leash skills and keeping his mouth on appropriate things, so his previous adopters recommend an adult-only home for now. He'd likely shine in flyball or frisbee! Physical and mental enrichment are musts for this happy boy, who gets wildly excited for walks and will gladly challenge you to tug. Dennis is a friendly, medium-energy Lab mix who's excited for walks without turning leash time into a circus. He's easy to leash, potty trained, knows "sit" and "down," takes treats gently, and passes other dogs without fuss on walks. In the yard, he'll happily check out passing pups before trotting right back to his person. The moment you start scratching him, it's like someone flips an off switch-he'll rest his head on your leg and nudge your hand for more. In playgroups, Dennis showed he genuinely wants to be part of the pack, but his social skills are still developing. His enthusiasm can come across as a bit intense, so he'll do best with thoughtful introductions and compatible dog friends. He also needs a home without cats, small dogs, or other small pets.
