Story
🐾 Meet Nugget: The Golden-Hearted Hound!Nugget is a stunning 6-year-old hound searching for his forever home. This sweet, healthy boy (neutered, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated) was rescued four years ago, but his owner’s health challenges mean he now needs a more active lifestyle. Why You’ll Love Him:• Social Star: He’s a "professional greeter" who believes every human should be greeted with a hug. He loves going to the dog park! • Polished Manners: Fully potty/crate trained and knows his commands. • Active Companion: He’s the perfect partner for hikers or runners. His Ideal Match:Nugget needs a home with a fenced-in backyard to satisfy his "zoomies." Because he prefers not to share toys or snacks, he requires an adults-only environment (teenagers are okay). He is currently staying with family while awaiting his "pawfect" match. His current family loves him dearly and requests an open adoption to stay updated on his adventures!

Story
Our sweet Gomer was picked up by a local animal control the day before Christmas Eve 2024.  He was very thin but happy to see everyone.  Every time someone walked by his kennel he ran to the front hoping that someone was coming for him.  He had intestinal parasites, wasn’t neutered, had several masses, had terrible teeth, and was heart worm positive.  Most of his issues have been treated.  He has finished his heart worm treatment and will have his dental in February 2026.  At first he didn’t respond to us when we took him out after pulling him from the shelter.  It didn’t take him long to realize that living inside with folks who loved him was a dream come true.  He likes to lay around with his buddy Gus and wander and sniff in the yard.  We’ve discovered that he is an escape artist if he sees something that interests him.  He can open latches on gates and climb a chain link fence.  He will need a 6 ft privacy fence and a family who will be very diligent about watching over him.  He is a fireplace dog who loves to chill with his other foster sibs and is learning basic cues.   We don’t know how he is with cats.   He would love a home with people who will love him for the rest of his life, taking him on sniffy walks and include him in family adventures.  If you are that special family who would love this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:08 am

Story
MEADOW - 1-5 yrs old, 45 pounds, playful, dog tolerant, activeMeadow is a lanky sort of hound-girl who arrived at VBACAC as a stray with a canine companion, Miles. She is thin and although barky behind the cage bars, she is friendly and inquisitive outside. She can take her time meeting new people, that's ok bc given that time, she'll learn she can trust you. She's also a sniffer, like all good hounds are, curious about where she is and what's going on around her.We have introduced her to our shelter playgroup dogs and she seems to like pushing and barking at other dogs with the purpose getting them to run. That's what she wants, to run!We are happily learning about Meadow and as we do, we will update this bio. Until then, however, come on out to meet her if you think she's meant for you! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 49
