It's no secret we have some hounds at our Shelter - over the years we have probably had hundreds of them. Currently, we have five of them - four males and then the darling of them all, our Bee.Bee's light shines so brightly - and yet she is a bit of an enigma. She was found as a stray by Sussex and made her way to us. We aren't sure what happened in her previous life, but she is very cautious when meeting new people. Not playing hard to get, not shy, just wants to check it out before letting her guard down.Her best buddy, Benny, gets it. He came in with her and has cracked the code. Some of our volunteers get it as well - slow and steady wins the race.Bee is gentle and loving. We also see glimpses of playfulness and whimsy. She is three-years-old and heartworm positive but has already started her treatment - and that treatment is fully covered by AAS, even when adopted.To any of our previous hound adopters, you know that feeling you get the moment your timid hound fully puts their trust in you and lets their guard down? That's what awaits the lucky person who adopts Bee. It's one of the best feelings in the world - to know that an unconditional package of love has picked you to be their person.Please come meet Bee - the darling of our hounds. 757-513-2503We adopted Goji as a puppy from the Norfolk SPCA nine years ago. He was in a litter of seven "berry named" brothers and sisters. He is a wonderfully loyal companion who has traveled to and from Japan and loves going for walks. Unfortunately, we are looking to rehome him because he doesn't get along with our children (5 years and 9 months old).Goji is:• An American Foxhound mix• Housetrained (only one accident as a puppy)• Fine with some dogs, but dislikes poodles and golden retrievers• A loyal companion who loves walksGoji has never lived with another dog and only lived with a cat for a short time as a puppy. He does have some food aggression, which we've found typical for the breed. We would not recommend him for a home with young children. He is due for rabies and flea medication in the next few months.💰 Rehoming fee: $0Includes: Travel kennel, home fold-up kennel, food, treats, and poo bags.

Our sweet Gomer was picked up by a local animal control the day before Christmas Eve 2024.  He was very thin but happy to see everyone.  Every time someone walked by his kennel he ran to the front hoping that someone was coming for him.  He had intestinal parasites, wasn’t neutered, had several masses, had terrible teeth, and was heart worm positive.  Most of his issues have been treated.  He has finished his heart worm treatment and will have his dental in February 2026.  At first he didn’t respond to us when we took him out after pulling him from the shelter.  It didn’t take him long to realize that living inside with folks who loved him was a dream come true.  He likes to lay around with his buddy Gus and wander and sniff in the yard.  We’ve discovered that he is an escape artist if he sees something that interests him.  He can open latches on gates and climb a chain link fence.  He will need a 6 ft privacy fence and a family who will be very diligent about watching over him.  He is a fireplace dog who loves to chill with his other foster sibs and is learning basic cues.   We don’t know how he is with cats.   He would love a home with people who will love him for the rest of his life, taking him on sniffy walks and include him in family adventures.  If you are that special family who would love this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:08 am

He’s polite, sensitive, and deeply loyal -- the kind of dog who wants to get it right for you, every time.What Parker has taught us is this: he isn’t built for chaos. He doesn’t thrive in busy households, and he’s not comfortable living with other pets or children.
