She was terrified in the loud shelter so CCRT came to scoop her and her 12 hour old pups. While in foster she is finally learning to enjoy life. Wilda was semi feral when she came into our care and made little progress at Cliff's Cottage (our kennel). She has blossomed at her foster home and even learning to play. She will take a very patient home that will give her the proper time and space to learn humans are okay. She must go into a home with atleast 1 other dog

Name: Howlena Age: approx 4 years old Weight: 45 pounds Color: tri color Breed: foxhound Vaccines: up to date Altered: yes Heartworm Status: positive, receiving treatment. Cureently receiving treatent. CCRT covers cost of treatment until tested negative! Energy Level: average House trained: yes zero accidents Crate trained: yes Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: is in a foster home with cats to learn not to chase. Kid friendly: yes Temperament: outgoing yet a little timid, loving, sweet Adoption fee: 275 Available for adoption anywhere in the US and Canada with transport provided at no extra cost Currently located in Chesapeake VA Application link: http://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VACC/Dog Howlena came from the sad situation at the NENC SPCA. When they were shut down due to violations I went to pull some dogs for another organization and saw this pretty face waiting to be saved with a time stamp over her head....of course she came with! Howlena was certainly a hunting dog prior and enjoys scents and has the urge to track scents. She would do best in a home that can take her for adventures, nose work so she can feel satisfied with "hunting", and a comfy bed to finish off her days. She is the QUEEN of zoomies, very fast and its so fun to watch her have fun. She has her "go" but also her "whoa" where she is ready to snuggle ON you on the coach. She is not vocal and very loyal, loving, and sweet

NEEDS EXPERIENCED ADOPTER DUE TO BEING TIMID Name: Ukulele Age: approx 6 years Weight: 55 Color: red/white Breed: Walker hound Vaccines: up to date Altered: yes Heartworm Status: negative Energy Level: average House trained: Yes Crate trained: yes Dog friendly: yes/must be adopted to a home with atleast 1 dog Cat friendly: yes Kid friendly: yes but very scared Temperament: very fearful, goofy, playful whe he warms up Adoption fee: 275 Notes: We pulled Ukulele from our local shelter as he was struggling in the shelter environment. He is EXTREMELY fearful/flighty. Extremely athletic and has scaled walls at the shelter easily. He will require a very patient person with a quiet home and multiple friendly dogs to get his confidence boosted. Once settled he will pick his person and can be "normal" he does have the ability to bond and trust. He does silly things like take random items into his crate and "hoard" them. He does not destroy the items just takes them in his crate to collect. He has a great personality! Available for adoption anywhere in the US or Canada with transport provided Adoption application: http://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VACC/Dog

Name: Taquito Age: approx 3 years old Weight: 50 pounds Color: tan/white Breed: foxhound Vaccines: up to date Altered: yes Heartworm Status: positive, receiving treatment at CCRT cost until he tests negative. Energy Level: moderate House trained: unknown Crate trained: unknown Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: will test Kid friendly: yes Temperament: submissive, sweet, fun Adoption fee: 275 Available for adoption anywhere in the US and Canada with transport provided at no extra cost Currently located in Chesapeake VA Application link: http://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VACC/Dog Taquito was found as a stray in NC in the middle of nowhere. He was hanging with a construction crew on a busy highway but wouldnt let anyone catch him. I set a trap with Taquitos (hence the name) and thankfully got him to safety. He was well cared for as he's a healthy weight and in good health. He was not reclaimed so he is now looking for a new family that will be his FOREVER. He is a tad shy of my 3 year old son, kennels well with other dogs, no guarding issues or aggression. Super well rounded personality. He is a wiggly nice boy and deserves a fabulous forever home.

Story
Our sweet Gomer was picked up by a local animal control the day before Christmas Eve 2024.  He was very thin but happy to see everyone.  Every time someone walked by his kennel he ran to the front hoping that someone was coming for him.  He had intestinal parasites, wasn’t neutered, had several masses, had terrible teeth, and was heart worm positive.  Most of his issues have been treated.  He has finished his heart worm treatment and will have his dental in February 2026.  At first he didn’t respond to us when we took him out after pulling him from the shelter.  It didn’t take him long to realize that living inside with folks who loved him was a dream come true.  He likes to lay around with his buddy Gus and wander and sniff in the yard.  We’ve discovered that he is an escape artist if he sees something that interests him.  He can open latches on gates and climb a chain link fence.  He will need a 6 ft privacy fence and a family who will be very diligent about watching over him.  He is a fireplace dog who loves to chill with his other foster sibs and is learning basic cues.   We don’t know how he is with cats.   He would love a home with people who will love him for the rest of his life, taking him on sniffy walks and include him in family adventures.  If you are that special family who would love this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:08 am

We reply to ALL emails within 72 hours! Looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts adventure buddy and professional couch potato? Meet Budgie, a lovable hound girl with the sweetest soul. At around 7 years old and 50 pounds, Budgie has found the perfect balance between playful and relaxed. She still gets the occasional burst of excitement; those long hound legs can get a little bouncy when she's happy, but she settles down quickly and is just as content spending the afternoon curled up beside you for belly rubs or napping under a shady tree. Budgie is an easy dog to love. She is: Sweet, affectionate, and gentle Great with other dogs Excellent in the car Crate trained and housetrained Good on a leash Calm for baths and nail trims No food or toy aggression Not a digger or fence jumper Budgie hasn't had the opportunity to be around children while in foster care, but her calm, easygoing temperament makes us think she'd do well with respectful kids. She has also shown interest in cats, mostly out of curiosity, so with slow introductions we believe she has the potential to adjust well. Budgie has been thoroughly vetted and is ready to start her next chapter: Spayed Heartworm negative Up to date on vaccinations Microchipped On monthly flea and heartworm prevention Healthy exam with excellent bloodwork She wore down her front teeth sometime before coming into rescue, giving her the cutest little gummy grin. The good news is her back teeth are in great shape, her veterinarian found no dental work was needed, and she's perfectly happy showing off that unique smile every chance she gets. Whether you're looking for a hiking companion for a trail walk, a co-pilot for car rides, or simply a best friend to lounge on the couch with while giving endless belly rubs, Budgie is happy to be right by your side. Symbiotic Inc has a required minimum $360 adoption donation upon the completion of the adoption (it is tax deductible!) All dog adoptions include a required, one hour virtual session with a professional trainer. Before the day of adoption, we will schedule a one hour "go home" session for you and your family with a professional trainer from Lucky Dogs Training, during which time they will discuss tips and tricks for bringing home a new dog and answer any questions you may have! This session is at no additional charge. www.LuckyDogstraining.net If you think this dog may be a good fit for your family, please visit our website and find out more about our application process. https://symbioticinc.org/adoption-application
