Story
. Looking for a forever home for our 3 1/2 year old French Bulldog named “Scooby”. Scooby is a sweet dog who recently underwent Orthopedic surgery for a TPLO/MPL 11 weeks ago and struggled with vomiting and diarrhea for 5 full weeks and required cage rest during this time. Due to a hard recovery and isolation, we have witnessed a change in his behavior. He has started resource guarding food and water, and has started nipping when he feels threatened (generally while crated). He has been evaluated by a behavioralist who believes he can be rehabilitated. We have a 7 day old baby, and are undergoing a full remodel. We are working with a trainer but unfortunately don’t have the time to dedicate towards his rehabilitation so we are looking for a home that understands the breed. He is a sweet boy and this is a very difficult decision for us. He does well with other dogs, crates well, and is generally potty trained unless left alone

Story
Meet our lovely Gianna. She is a one-year-old, 20-pound, tan, French bulldog. When she was surrendered to AFC, she was in rough shape! She was bruised from head to toe from an apparent beating. She had awful skin and missing hair. She has experienced both abuse and neglect. However, she didn't allow that to change her loving heart. She has absolutely blossomed in her foster home. She is a sweetheart and loves people of all ages. She is fine with most other dogs. She would also be happy to be your one and only love. NO CATS as she will chase them. She is happy and playful and loves her toys. Gianna will chase a ball if you throw it but she won’t bring it back! Can you teach her to fetch? *(A short walk or outdoor play session with their owner each day should provide enough exercise to keep the French Bulldog in shape. Frenchies enjoy participating in canine sports such as obedience, agility, and rally. As a flat-faced breed, however, they are prone to breathing difficulties and should never be allowed to exert themselves in hot or humid weather)*. Gianna is on grain free salmon and sweet potato dog food and she is doing well on it. She also eats out of a Slow Feed Puzzle Bowl. Her skin and coat are now healthy. She is housetrained to a dog door. She is crate trained but absolutely LOVES to sleep in your bed! Warning though, she is a bed hog, lol. She will need leash training. She rides well in the car. She would be a wonderful addition to almost any home. Breed experience REQUIRED. She has been spayed, microchipped and currently vaccinated. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. My name is Leelah and I was found stray on the streets. No chip, no collar, no posted “lost” signs or clue to save my life as to how I got into this predicament. A Good Samaritan, who is now my foster mom stepped in to be my savior. She provided shelter, shots and safety. I am forever indebted to her. I am ready for my spay and am in the process of getting an appointment to have it done. I am smart, sturdy and ready to start my training towards developing into a great canine citizen and companion. I love long walks and people. Big dogs scare me and I start singing the song of my people, “Stranger Danger.” I need to have more socialization so that the new things in my world don’t frighten me. The good thing is I am still just a pup and I am confident that with patience and love I will thrive. I am just 10 months old. I weigh 52 lbs and am almost fully grown. My foster mom thinks I am a French Bulldog and Staffordshire Terrier blend. *** Leelah will need to be spayed before being released for adoption.
If you would like to contribute to Leelah’s care, we sure would appreciate it; please use the following link: Ken-Mar Rescue PayPal https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/R7K7K6HX8G72A If you would like to be considered to adopt Leelah, please email: Info@KenMarRescue.org And request an Adoption Questionnaire in the subject line. Be sure to include as much information about why you’d be a great candidate to adopt Leelah as well. Thank you for your support and for helping to save a dog’s life! The Ken-Mar Rescue Team

Story
Potter is a special needs pup with hydrocephalus; he needs a family that will keep his head safe and be ok with his developmental delays. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? My name is Potter, Hydrocephalus Superhero. ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY? I’m a little boy. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born around January 28, 2023. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a French Bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? 18lbs WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a cute, little guy! I’m white and brindle piebald, whatever piebald means. I have a little arrow marking on my forehead and white frosting on my ears. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like moist kibble and dog-friendly treats. I’m not too sure about the carrots or apples that my foster mom offers me, but if you gave me some chicken or other tasty dog-friendly food from your plate, I would probably gobble it up! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? Well, I’m not sure if you know, but I’m kind of a big deal! And all the things that make me different are the same things that make me special. I’m sweet and spunky and living in the moment is my style. I am playful and love to wrestle and chew on my foster brother Tater. I’ve been told I can be kinda demanding; sometimes, I fuss and bark to let you know I want attention, food, or need to go potty. Sometimes, I howl when I’m in my carrier or crate because I want out! But I settle down easily. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day starts with a “good morning, Potter” and scratchies from my foster mom. Then I do a big stretch, go potty, and get ready for breakfast. Sometimes, I go back to sleep for a bit afterward. Once I’m up, I’m ready to play, explore, and find something to chew on like my Benebone. I eat lunch and nap. I spend time chilling, playing tug-o-war, maybe have another nap, and more exploring. I take my medication at 7:00 p.m. sharp and start my bedtime routine of chewing a yak stick, and then snuggle and sleep. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Anything to tug-o-war and my yak stick. If you let me, I will nibble your fingers and toes. Sometimes I wrestle the dog bed and drag it as far as I can! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? No, but I know my name and I come when being called. I’m not sure about learning more. WHAT SCARES YOU? Sometimes loud noises and sudden overhead movement can be scary. I’m little, so people standing over me make me cower or try to get away. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? Yes, but because I can’t play rough and need to be safe guarded, it’s best if I am around older kids that understand. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I don’t think I’ve met a cat, so I am not sure. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I LOVE other dogs. They are fun, but being around gentle dogs that are not too big, who won’t knock me over, or squish me, is safer. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Hanging out with my person or forever family doing whatever they’re doing. I’m easy going. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I was born with Hydrocephalus. I have no idea what that is, but like I said, I’m a superhero and I’m gonna live every day to the fullest. Hydro makes me wobble around, unsteady on my feet, and fall over, but it doesn’t slow me down or stop me from having fun! Humans must be careful with me and ensure my head is protected as much as possible. Other than that, I’m great! Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and my foster brother. I love them both! I really like my foster brother because he lets me chew on him. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I stay in my very own X-pen with toys and a fluffy bed to lounge on, access to my food and water, and plenty of room to potty if I need to. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep on my comfy bed in my very own penned area – you know, superhero style. Sometimes, I fall asleep with my foster mom and magically wake up in my bed. I think it must be one of my superpowers. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? The most important thing for me with walks is that I won’t be going on any walks on the hard pavement. I’ll probably be more of a explore and stumble around on the soft grass kind of guy…. In case I fall over. DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? Um, I like to bark demands and do mischievous stuff, like tear up my potty pads when bored… I don’t think that is so bad. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE) No, I go potty on potty pads and sometimes I just go wherever I happen to be. I might be able to be potty-trained, but you’ll have to be very patient with me. DO YOU LIKE WATER? Only to drink and for bathing. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they protect me, are patient and kind, play with me, and love me. I’m living the dream. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I was born different, so some nice ladies rescued me and brought me from far away to NorCal. Now, I live in a wonderful foster home and my future is wide open… Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? If you’d like to have a superhero in your life, I am SO ready to love you forever! **Potter's adoption fee is $1,000.00** If you are interested in adopting Potter, please jump on our website and read why about the adoption fees for special breeds BEFORE filling out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi! I am Billy! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am such a sweet boy! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born in August 2022. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? French Bulldog HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? 24 pounds WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I have a soft black and brown brindle coat, slim frame and long legs! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I would like to eat everything, but I’m only allowed larger kibble because I have a cleft palate. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am pretty sure I was a cat in my previous life. While I am friendly and playful, I am also super particular about how I like to be touched. Sometimes I am okay with belly rubs, and other times I am uncomfortable with it. Sometimes I like having my back massaged gently, but then I might wiggle away the next time you try. If I’m feeling cuddly, I might curl up next to you, but then if you try to cuddle me, I’ll have to think about whether I’m alright with that. See, I’m a cat trapped in a dog’s body! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day would be playing with my fellow foster siblings, getting my zoomies out in the yard, sunbathing, and then napping next to my humans. Plus treats, treats, and more treats! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? My favorites are soft toys, no squeaker required! They are soothing to me! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I do! I am very good at SIT, especially when I know there are treats being offered as a reward! I know EAT means go to my crate and wait patiently for my kibble! And my foster grandma has taught me PAW, which I’m very proud of! My foster mom says I’m pretty smart, and I have to agree with her on that! WHAT SCARES YOU? Well, I’ve always had a nervous disposition. My foster mom says I’m like her little Italian grandmother, always slightly worried about something…except fireworks. Those don’t bug me at all! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I have been around children ages four and up, though I’m probably best with kids that understand I am not into hugs. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I’ve never met one…unless we count my past life experiences. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I am very friendly with other dogs! I get along well with all the other fosters and resident dogs in the home! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Snuggled up on the couch with my forever family! Oh and I just LOVE sunbathing every chance I get! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I have a cleft palate that requires that I stick to a certain size kibble so it doesn’t get caught in my cleft. And if you know clefties, we sometimes sneeze a lot to clear our palates! I am very good at letting my grandma blot my nose when I sneeze. I was also born with an underdeveloped left eye, but it has grown to a healthier size over the last several months! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom, foster grandma, and several young adults that come over almost every day. I love them all, but I would say grandma is my favorite because I nap with her on a leather recliner while mom is working. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? Safely in my crate, which is my favorite safe space! WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep very well in my crate! DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? Well, since you asked nicely, I’ll tell you … I am really not a fan of leash walks. The idea of leaving the house is just not appealing to me. I have everything I need at home! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I like to “nibble” on my people. I don’t bite, but it is soothing to me to nibble. I also love to chew the tags off blankets, so my foster mom makes sure those are cut off. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? Yes, I am house trained and go out the doggie door perfectly every time I need to potty. If there isn’t access to the doggie door, I will come tell you I need to go! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I love drinking it, but I’m not a fan of bathing in it so please make those quick! I will go out in the rain to do my business because I am a good boy… But I certainly won’t stay out there too long. No thank you! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love hanging out with the other foster dogs and my humans. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I was surrendered the day I was born due to my cleft palate and underdeveloped left eye. NorCal Bully Breed Rescue saved me, tube fed me until I could eat safely on my own, and made sure that I have been loved for my whole young life so far. But I am ready to find a family that I can call my own. Will you be mine? ***Billy's Adoption fee is $1000*** ***REGARDING ADOPTION FEES FOR THE FRENCH BULLDOGS IN OUR RESCUE… PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND READ ABOUT OUR BULLDOG ADOPTION FEES PRIOR TO FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION. Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? I’m Steve! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am the cutest little boy you’ll ever meet! HOW OLD ARE YOU? My birthdate is September 21, 2022. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a French Bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I weigh approximately 25 pounds. A little nugget! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am the most handsome gentleman! I have a black and caramel brindle coat with the sweetest brown eyes. My cleft lip is just adorable (if I do say so myself) and makes my smile guaranteed to melt your heart. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? Because of my cleft palate, I stick to my kibble and I LOVE IT! I should not eat any soft food and, quite frankly, I don’t even know what the fuss is since I have never had it. I am totally happy to eat my kibble as training treats throughout the day. And I also love the occasional blueberry and I definitely enjoy participating in collection of the "cheese tax" at foster mom's lunchtime! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am super spunky! I am always in a great mood and ready to play. I love to explore new places. I play a lot, but I also LOVE my sleepy time! I am so cuddly, you will always find me sprawled across my human or curled up next to another dog. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: First, it is potty time! Next, I get to eat breakfast and then it is time for a walk to explore the world. After my walk, it is definitely PLAY TIME! Then when my friends and I are all tuckered out, I settle down for a long, fabulous nap. I wake up for potty breaks and maybe some yard exploration, but I am totally content to hang out and sleep most of the day. In the evening, it is dinner time, play time, and then more sleepy time! I’m a simple guy with simple pleasures. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? My absolute favorite toy is a little Kong tire that I hang out with every time I am lying down. I always fall asleep with it in my mouth—like a big pacifier! I also love Benebones and tennis balls! I will chase whatever toy is rolled across the floor for me. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? Yes! I am such a smart boy! I know sit, shake, down, spin, high five, peekaboo, paws up on a platform, leave it, and lots of other super fun tricks! it. I look forward to my tricks training every night because I just love to learn (and I love treats, obviously)! WHAT SCARES YOU? Nothing! I am a brave, happy-go-lucky boy! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? I have been around kids of all sizes, and I love EVERYONE! I am gentle and cuddly so there are no concerns about whether I will be a good boy with children. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have not been around cats. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? Oh boy, doggy friends are the BEST! I play well with big dogs and little dogs. I love to have playmates to run around with! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I will be happy anywhere, as long as I can be with my forever family who will love me, feed me, and cuddle with me. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I have a cleft palate and cleft lip, but that just makes me look adorable and really only affects the types of food that I eat. Also, I am on medicine to help control seizures because there’s some funny wiring in my head that sometimes goes on the fritz. But the medicine has been really helpful and, thankfully, those things don’t happen quite as much anymore. And, from what the humans around me have said, the medication is not very expensive (maybe $30 to $40 per month), so that aspect of my future medical care is easy to handle. I do need someone who understands my special needs. But my special needs just make me that much more special, in my opinion! Foster mom says, “He is SO worth it,” and I agree! WHO DO LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and I have two doggy foster sisters and a doggy foster brother. I would say my favorite companion is my foster mom because she feeds me, teaches me how to be a good puppy, and keeps me safe. My second closest companion is my foster sister who is another Frenchie and we love to play every chance we get. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I have a super comfy pen where I am safe and cozy. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep in my cozy pen. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I am SO good on my walks! Walks are one of my favorite things to do! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? There’s nothing “not so great” about me! I am just fabulous (yeah, I am bragging on myself again)! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING, DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE?) Did I mention how smart I am? Yeah, I have the whole potty training thing mastered. DO YOU LIKE WATER? Water is great to drink, but that’s about the end of my affection for it. I am a good boy in the bath, but if I had my choice, I would skip that altogether. I do not swim, so I should not be around pools or spas to keep me safe. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I get lots of love from my foster mom and I get to play as much as possible with my doggy foster siblings. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? Because of my cleft palate and lip, I was surrendered by a breeder when I was first born. So for my whole little life, I have been lucky to have the nurturing and love provided to me by NBBR. But it is time for me to find my own family. Will you take me home with you and love me forever? If you are interested in adopting Steve please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org. There is also information on the adoptions fees for bulldogs.
