Story
Meet Baguette! This nibbly boy transferred to us from the San Diego Humane Society! Baguette was found as a stray and taken to a local vet. He was picked up by Humane Law Enforcement not long after and taken to SDHS. He had been there a month prior where he was secluded due to his kennel stress and was on anxiety medications. They were working to address his health concerns when we took over. His previous owner must have left him outdoors as he had healing fly bites on his ears, corneal scarring on his left eye, healing scrapes on his lower back, and was underweight. During his time with us we weaned him off his anxiety medications, his skin has improved, and we continue to work on the cause of his gastrointestinal upset. Health implications aside, Baguette has been an energetic busy bee with his new friends, loves to nibble on the staff's fingers, and is such a ball of joy! Health considerations: Baguette still has consistent blood in his stools. We have conducted a series of blood and parasite tests, all of which did not point to any root cause. We are working through changes to his prescribed diet to find what will work best for his gastrointestinal concerns. The next step in addressing his health concerns is an abdomen ultrasound. We have an appointment with an internist at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital-Sorrento Valley on 1/21 of 2026 and hope to come closer to diagnosing his ailment in the near future. Baguette has permanent corneal scarring on his left eye. This does not greatly affect his eyesight as it is rather small. Please note that Baguette is not available until he has a diagnosis and treatment/management plan. Regarding COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses: Please reschedule any visits if you are sick.

Story
Adoptable Gomez is one of the sweetest puppies we’ve met! He is about 12 months old, has a BEAUTIFUL brindle-ish coat, and is just a bundle of love. Gomez was listed at the shelter as a French bulldog mix and we actually think he probably does have some Frenchie - he has a cute little underbite and Frenchie ears 💗🥹 But he’s definitely mixed with some other things. He will be a medium sized dog as he’s only about 30 lbs at nearly 12 months old. Gomez loves other dogs, and is on the submissive side. He has done well with house training and crate training, but like any puppy will require some time and routine to get things down perfectly.

Story
Alaska is a little girl who came running to the shelter to hide, we assume she was scared after being run over At first glance we saw that she had a fracture in her hind leg, her first visit to the vet was to prepare her for an amputation, since her leg was beyond repair. After her recovery, she began to prepare to find her new home, currently she already has her vaccinations up to date, she is spayed and ready. She is a very pampered dog, like a big girl, waiting for love, affection and lots of cuddles, she likes to go for walks, eager to see new places, always happy, following you everywhere. She is very curious, elated to see you, and such an adorable, smart little girl. The fact that she is missing her leg does not stop her, she runs, plays and can even jump, she has adapted quite well to her new life. She is still a puppy, she will barely be a year old, she will not grow any more, she is medium, around 26 pounds. She is very protective with her family, she loves take a nap by your side, and she likes go to walks. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation to North of San Diego

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Introducing Anona!  Anona is a sweet and spunky 4-year-old French Bulldog mix weighing 26 lbs. True to her breed, she’s full of personality and charm, and she’s guaranteed to make you smile every single day. Anona loves people and greets everyone like a new best friend. Because she doesn’t always realize her own strength, she’s best suited for a home without young children, though dog-savvy teens may be a good match. She enjoys a good game of fetch (though you’ll want to toss the toy with care, as she can get a little too excited) and absolutely adores car rides with the window down, ears flapping in the breeze. Walks are another favorite activity, but like most Frenchies, she’s prone to overheating, so several short strolls each day are ideal. A securely fenced backyard is a must for this curious girl—especially since she loves to spend time chasing lizards! Anona does best as the only pet in the home, as she isn’t comfortable around other dogs (and we’re not sure about cats). She has “bionic ears” and can be quite the little watchdog, alerting you to every sound—even at night. She would love to sleep in the same room as her person, but be ready for some adorable Frenchie snores. She’s independent enough to be left alone for an hour or two, but she thrives in a home where someone is around most of the time—such as a work-from-home or retired adopter who’s looking for a fun, loyal sidekick. She is strong-willed (in true Frenchie fashion!) and will benefit from consistent boundaries and obedience training to help her shine her brightest. Anona also has some skin sensitivities. She’s allergic to chicken and beef, so she’ll need a special diet, and she responds best to Cytopoint injections to help manage her allergies. With her big heart, playful energy, and lovable quirks, Anona will quickly steal yours. If you’re looking for a spirited companion who will keep life exciting and full of love, Anona is ready to meet you! She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  November 11, 2025, 11:57 am

Story
Meet Titus! 13-year-old Titus was surrendered by his family after financial issues made it necessary for them to move and a change in jobs led them to be away from home for long hours. Upon welcoming him as a Frosted Face on September 9th, our staff and volunteers fell in love with this sweet, calm, and affectionate 35 lb. cutie. Soon after his arrival at FFF, Titus was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling that quickly turned into a Foster home. His foster mom has only wonderful things to share about Titus: "Titus is a total love bug that just wants to be pet and cuddled all day. He’s low-key but does enjoy a leisurely walk. He’ll also chase tennis balls. Titus is great with other dogs, including my own. I was told that he’s not good with cats, but he hasn’t encountered one with me. Titus settled right in and figured out the stairs to the couch. He is house-trained and has not had a single accident. He always lets me know when he needs to go out. When I leave home, Titus just heads straight to my bed and falls asleep. Titus is so sweet!" Titus accompanies his Foster mom to her hair salon every day and is a big hit with all of her clients. Be sure to watch the adorable video of Titus at "work!" Titus also went to the Frosted Faces Halloween SUP fundraiser where he went paddle boarding. He did great on the water, as well as with everyone he met, whether they had two or four legs! To meet this special boy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
